Mission:
BUGS OH NO!!
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: current
ON:
Silk had finished his deep cranial scans on Ainkara, and had seen Long and a group of medical personnel see to the infants brought aboard, when another transporter signal came in and deposited Kirk, Green, and Bjorgo. Tore, he could see, was a corpse. Dead for some time by the looks of it. Rushing over he waved in a couple of the nurses still available, hoisting Bjorgo's body onto a biobed and then aiding both Commander Green and Ensign Kirk to their own beds, next to each other.
Green had focused her Core on internal injuries, reconnecting and mending all the organs that had been damaged by the cauterizing effect the sabers had on wounds. The initial entry and exit wounds were still pretty raw so he decided to begin there. "See to Kirk," Sean ordered a nurse, as the Ensign looked to have a head wound and other superficial injuries. Green, however, not only had a hole in her chest but she also had some nasty plasma burns along the left side of her face, neck, and collarbone region. "How we feeling, Commander," Silk asked, since his patient was awake.
"I've been better." Said Ro, looking over at Kirk and seeing she was fine, too. Her eyes came back to Silk. "Where is Tore?"
"Third bed over, covered. The teral'n made that a bit difficult, but we made do." Sean responded as he began to scan her torso injuries. Amazingly, there was still some internal trauma but most of whatever had happened had already mended. "Let's see to you first, then worry about him, okay?" Setting to his duties Silk set his instruments for deep tissue mending even as he injected various medicines to offset infection, aid healing, and to ease any pain. After about fifteen minutes Rogue Green's torso looked as if it had never been pierced. "There will be soreness within for a few days, Ro. But, I will clear you for duty."
"Thanks, Sean. I hope you don't mind if I just lay here for a while."
"Not at all. The House of Long is always available." Silk patted her shoulder and stepped away, moving over to Kirk. "What are we looking at," he asked a nurse.
"A nasty bump on the head but, other than that, she is fine, Doctor."
"You hear that, Jim, you're gonna live," said Silk with a smile.
Kirk gave a smile in return. "I've been told I am pretty hard-headed so, better there than anywhere else, I guess."
"Indeed," replied Silk, raising his own medical tricorder and running scans. It was not out of lack of trust he did this, knowing full well that those in Sickbay were always on the ball and professional. But, in medical, more than one opinion was expected and doubling the scans ensured there would be nothing missed. "You're cleared for duty, as well, Ensign. Once the nurses are done mending your wounds, of course. How did Tore die?"
"No clue, Doctor." Kirk's eyes took on a hardened look. "When we arrived on scene there he was. I can only assume this Jynxza person killed him before our arrival." She glanced over at Green a moment, speaking softly afterword. "How is she?"
Silk spoke in his normal tone, not one to hide what he said about a patient. "She's fine. Going to be sore for a few days but nothing that won't heal physically."
"Doctor," this came from Green, and both Kirk and Silk looked over. "Please, move Tore to the morgue. Leave him as is so that I can, respectfully, see to removing the teral'n from his chest. Since he and I are...were lovers, I will claim the weapon in his death."
"You got it, Ro. No regulations against that. When he is moved and set we will allow you to go in and see to him privately." Silk's face showed how crushed he was by the loss. And, it showed in Green's eyes, no matter how stoic her face appeared.
"Thank you," said Green, sitting up with a slight groan and swinging her legs over the side facing towards Kirk. She had used the Core to recall her saber to her after Jynxza had thrown it away down the hall. It was hooked to her belt even as her eyes looked to Kirk's side. There was no saber there. A discussion for another time. Easing off the bed Ro let her feet make deck-fall and stood tall. "As always, Doctor, your ministrations are impeccable."
"Awww shucks, Commander, you're gonna make me blush." Silk said as he tried to downplay the praise. He really was doing all he could to NOT blush.
Kirk gave a chuckle as she too sat up and swung her legs over, facing Green. "I think you found a chink in the armor, Ro. The badass marine does have a soft spot after all." The three laughed, something that was sorely needed on Amandora these days. Around them, others had been privy to the banter and they too elicited their own form of humorous expression. Jim got to her feet and moved a pace over so as not to crowd her XO. "I'll be down seeing to maintenance on my Delta. She got put through the paces on this one. Take care you two." She departed their company.
Green watched her go then looked to Silk. "Thanks for your understanding about Tore. Why is Ainkara over there, far away from others?"
Silk gained a thoughtful expression, with several subtle changes to it, before answering the best he could. "That is something we need to discuss, Commander. I detected an anomaly with her and I am trying to sort it out. However, with her mental trauma over being a servant to the Iconians I don't want her to feel as if she is a prisoner."
"If she is dangerous in any way we have no choice," stated Green, her tone saying she would not budge on the matter. "I am all for respecting others, and treating them well so long as they cooperate. However, if she presents a danger to ship and crew, we do what we must."
"I know," said Silk, a bit miffed that Ro thought he would act in any other way. He was a Marine, and if the Voran became a viable threat to all, he would put her down himself without hesitation. "And, why she is over there so that I can do things privately and keep her calm. Now, please leave Sickbay and let me tend to my patients my way, Commander." He walked away without another word, heading back to Ainkara.
Green had been suspicious about Ainkara for some time, but could not nail down why. Perhaps the Core was trying to tell her something. She needed to meditate. After thanking the medical staff for aiding her she left and headed for her quarters.
