Mission: BUGS OH NO!!

ON:

Receiving word from the Bridge that there were babies on a runabout in the main shuttle bay, Sean Silk grabbed his engineer's vest stuffed with medical devices and hypo capsules and took off out the door after letting Long know where he was going. Once in the corridor he looked up. "Computer, site-to-site transport to main shuttle bay." After a split second he vanished in a particle stream and reappeared in the main shuttle bay. There, across the bay, sat a Romulan runabout with FC personnel flocking around it to get it locked down from flight. He jogged over. "This the bird with the babies on board?"

All of them looked confused before one said that they did not know that information. Just as he went to clarify the starboard hatch opened and the stairs folded out, with a Voran poking her head out. "Ainkara!" He stepped over to the bottom of the steps. "How are you...never mind. Are there children aboard?"

"Yes. In the aft section." Ainkara turned and went further back inside the ship so Silk followed her.

Arriving in the aft section and seeing the sealed and secure bassonet type machinery, Silk pulled his tricorder from a pocket and began to scan. "Damn, they're in perfect health. Just gotta make sure this machine is self-reliant for power. If not, by the time we opened it after disconnecting they could suffocate."

"Have no worries, Doctor Silk," Ainkara reassured. "It has its own power source. I requested medical since this is a foreign device and new to the ship. Contagion is always a factor."

"That it is," said Silk, looking at readings as they spoke, his eyes coming up to glance around at the babies and their bed. "But, the scans show nothing dangerous. No contagions or radiation."

As Ainkara watched him work she began to feel a bit of a headache coming on, in the left portion of her brain. Like Vulcans, Voran brains were not split, but all one organ continuous. "Argh!" She hissed out as her left hand reached up to hold the side of her head. "Argh...pardon...pardon me."

Silk watched her closely, seeing the eyes squinting like someone with a migraine, and then the clutching of the left side of her head with her left hand. After the first outburst of pain, and then the next with pardons, she grabbed both sides of her head and bent at the waist and screamed bloody murder. Sean actually jumped despite himself, stepping back a pace as his right hand went to his sidearm. "Ainkara! What?"

She began to spin and bounce off the walls, stumbling like a cadet after last call, before she slid down a wall with her back and ended up on her tush, knees to chest, still clutching her head. Seeing she was down Silk got closer and trained his tricorder scans at the Voran. Her brain activity was off the charts, but seemed scrambled, with no direction. As he scanned she seemed to relax and her hands came down from her head. She looked up at him and for a split second, in her left eye, he swore he could see some kind of computer signature, circular, spinning back and forth, and then it was gone. Not instantly, but fading over a few moments time. Either she did not notice, or did not know she had this because she never said a word about it. So, for now, he would keep it to himself and make a Security notation. Her brain activity had returned to normal and she seemed fine now, the elevated blood pressure and such also back to normal. "What the hell happened?"

"I do not know," replied Ainkara. "Just a sudden onset of pain deep in my cerebral cortex. If I had to describe it, it would be akin to getting an ice pick shoved into my brain, starting behind my left eye and radiating out from there." She had noted the circular computer imagery that had appeared in her vision in her left eye. As the spindle-like holo spun back and forth in her eye, anything within that circle had been scanned visually with a rundown list of what was what. All written in Iconian and Voran. Ainkara had to make sure he had seen nothing before she would bring it up herself. The last thing she needed was another cage. It was like having a computer eye with a telescopic reader that fed her data on her surroundings.

Silk nodded a few times, his scans showing just the Voran and nothing unusual. "We need to get you and the youngins back to Sickbay." He saw her open her mouth to respond. "No arguments. I need to run complete scans on you while Long deals with the babies." Silk pulled a transporter tag from a vest pocket and slapped it on the techno-bassonet. "Computer, beam myself, Ainkara, and the tagged item directly to Sickbay, incoming patient area." They all were whisked away.

Arriving in Sickbay via transporter Silk stood up tall and helped Ainkara to her feet. Without a word he looked her in the eyes and simply pointed to a biobed off in a corner. She nodded and complied. "Sickbay, I have to see to an injury on Ainkara. These little ones need some TLC." Medical personnel began to move to help the kids while Silk went over to Ainkara, who had diligently obeyed, and now lay on the biobed in the sitting up position with the headrest.
