#81 Understanding

Mission:
BUGS OH NO!!
Location: USS Euphrates
Timeline: current
ON:
On the USS Euphrates Green and Silk were still in the back with the two members of the unknown species. Both of them wore a body glove that was an off white color, with padding throughout and the appearance of being capable of thermal protection against the rigors of space. Neither wore helmets, currently, so Sean could only surmise that the suits were advanced enough to be worn daily, and without a helmet when not in vacuum.
"Okay, their vitals seem to have steadied," reported Silk. "They may have taken a sleep agent to be able to relax and sleep through most of the trip. Wherever they were going, that is."
"Still no idea where they are from? No similarities to any other species we've encountered?" Asked Green.
"Honestly, they are very human in their make-up," Silk explained. "The tricorder has mapped their organ placement and what each one is. The internal structure is very human-like, and the bony ridges are actually cartilege; evolutionary eye protection in a natural form. It was probably much more pronounced thousands of years ago but has become less intensicve..." A hand on one of the passengers twitched, the fingers wriggling slightly, then went still. "Do we have any Class-M planets nearby?"
Green said she did not know, so she called Kirk to the back. "Ensign, scan for Class-M planets in the sector. Also, check the Starfleet database. If there is a homeworld for them out there then perhaps a probe scanned it in passing."
"You got it, Commander." Jim looked to Silk. "Doc, you have an issue with us going onto their vessel?"
"Nope," Silk said. "No contagions or deadly isotopes detected. Be cautious, as always, but there shouldn't be anything to worry about."
"Thanks, Doc. Resch and I will check out their ship, Commander. They might have a form of logs."
"Go ahead," Green said, aquiescing to the idea.
Kirk gave a nod and went back to the Bridge.
"I'm going to wake them." Announced Silk. The two male aliens were still unconscious, with the one still twitching a hand. "The best way to get answers is to ask questions." Dropping the sterile field after readying a hypo with a stimulant in it, Sean stepped in and injected the cartridge into the neck of the twitcher. After about twenty seconds went by the eyes began to flutter open and the breathing went from deep sleep to standard.
The man on the table opened his eyes and looked about, spotting Silk since he was next to the table, so he adjusted his torso and was now leaning back on his forearms. Looking from Green to Silk, back and forth a few times, he then spoke. It was a language the UT did not recognize so Green pulled her tricorder up and made some adjustments. With he hand she did the puppet thing, showing a moving mouth, then did the roll on motion with her hand to coax him into giving more.
Sean stayed next to the man, showing he was not a threat but there for him. "We need more," he said, giving the motion of something coming from his mouth, then he tapped his ear. "Please, keep speaking." The being did so, and after a minute Silk looked at Green who gave a nod of affirmation as the man kept speaking in small phrases.
"Can you understand me now?" Asked Silk.
The man's eyes immediately went back to Silk, showing surprise to hear his language coming from the speakers. "I can, yes. Who...who are you?"
Silk felt the query was only fair while sitting on an alien ship far from home. "I am Doctor Sean Silk and this is Commander Ro Green. We're from Earth, our government is the Federation. We," he gestured back and forth. "Are in Starfleet, a Federation organization of exploration."
"Exploration?" Asked the man, who then sat up and swung his legs over the side of the table, easing himself down into a chair. "Is this a warp ship?"
"It is," said Green, stepping in closer to Silk and the awake passenger. "Your ship is not warp capable but you know about them?"
"Yes." The man went to explain, but then shook his head slightly. "Where are my manners. Apologies. I am Commander Zaren. My world is Tuura, and we are Tuuran. My companion and I. As for knowing about warp, we were visited in the past by two species with warp engines. The Ferengi and the Orions. Do you know them?"
"Yes, we do," answered Green while Silk kept scanning the man. "Most of them are not friendly, and only exploit from others. But, as with all species, there are those who are more noble among them."
"All Species?" Asked Zaren. "How many are out there?"
Silk wanted to tell the man but the Prime Directive kept his cautious. "There's a few. We're not at liberty to say, by directive. Apologies."
Green decided to get the conversation on another track. "Why were you so far away from home, seeking warp craft?"
"My people are dying," admitted Zaren. "We have an incurable disease, as far as our medical advancements go. We were seeking people like you, with warp drive and higher technology in the medical field. Last I knew we had over 12 million people die from the illness, and still no cure. We've been gone over two years seeking aid, so no telling how many more have died since then. You said you were a doctor, can you help us?" He looked back and forth at them, seeing the hesitation in these benevolent beings.
Silk had no choice but to look to his XO. "Commander? Do I have permission?"
Ro thought on it a few moments. "They already know of warp drive and other species so, the contamination to their culture is acceptable. See what you can do."
Silk gave a nod and a grin, with the grin being aimed at Zaren as he turned his face back to the Tuuran. "We forgot to mention, we're human. Earth is our home world, as I said."
Zaren gave a nod before Kirk came in the door and his attention went to her.
"We've downloaded their on board database, using the UT trnslator," Kirk said. "Their system, and planet, are no more than eight hours away even at warp one. We can activate the tractor beam and tow the craft home, Commander."
"Set it up," ordered Green. "The Doctor can continue to work on these two and familiarize himself with their biology to better understand the illness decimating their population."
Kirk gave a nod of acknowledgement. "Yes, Sir. We'll get underway as soon as we have tractor lock." She disappeared back to the Bridge.
Ro got Sean's attention. "Keep at it, Doctor. I'm sure when we arrive they will be eager to meet you and catch you up."
