Mission:
BUGS OH NO!!
Location: USS Amandora
Timeline: current
ON:
After a long, hot shower and getting dressed in clean clothes; her uniform with the vest variant, Commander Green went to her desk and sat down, making the call she had promised to make. After visiting on the call with her dad for an hour she then went to ship's business, and Ainkara. She explained the situation and then told the Director of Starfleet Personnel that Ainkara was quite knowledgeable with technology and scientific disciplines. That her drive was all go, no quit, to be an officer. Admiral Stone had received plenty of her test results already and had to agree that she showed excellent aptitude, but there was more to being an officer than good grades, which Green agreed with. She then explained that she was calling to get her a cadet designation rather than crewman/crewperson, not to try and get her an officer slot right now. Aaron gave a chuckle, realizing he had misunderstood the call, and changed gears. With all that she had showed so far, and with her XO singing praises, then Stone would allow her to be given the rank of Cadet, Senior Grade. The call ended with Green telling pops she loved him, and then standing up and leaving her quarters. "Computer, location of Crewman Ainkara."
"Crewman Ainkara is in her personal lab." Ro asked for section and designation and headed that way.
Arriving at the door Green almost did a command override but decided against it. If Ainkara was in the middle of an experiment she could ruin it by bursting through the door and distracting her. So, to be polite and not pushy, Green hit the chime, hearing "enter" come through the speaker. She walked in and saw Ainkara in the center of the room with a pedestal containment unit, which was activated to contain what looked like an ion storm. "Is that safe, Ainkara?" She almost used the cadet designation, but wanted to present it correctly, with the collar device in her left hand and hidden.
"Perfectly safe, Commander," said Ainkara. She used the rank since Green was now in uniform, which meant back to active duty. "What can I do for you?"
"Get into the proper uniform of the day, that's what," Green responded, smiling and stepping in. Getting toe-to-toe with Ainkara she reached up and removed her crewman pin and set it aside, putting the cadet pin in its place. "Ainkara, you are now a Cadet, Senior Grade. As before all regulations and laws are now applicable and you will be treated as an officer in training. Keep up your drive and focus and it should take no time at all to see ensign, at the least."
Ainkara went to her mirror and looked at her chest where the crewman pin had been, now seeing the shiny four-pip pin of a Senior Cadet. She spun back around and gave a smile. "Thank you, Commander. I will live up to all expectations."
"You better," said Ro with a smile. "The Admiral may be my dad but it's my reputation if you muck this up." She gave a giggle to show she was not worried about that, honestly, just making a point. "If you have any issues, any questions, just find me or another department head and ask away. At that rank in your cadet status this is considered your cadet cruise. You will be evaluated not only on your work performance, but on how you conduct yourself as a Starfleet officer. Some make it to Lt(jg) right out of the gate but most start as ensigns once they graduate. Work hard and good luck, Cadet."
"I will, Sir, and thank you."
"Alright," said Green, the moment now over. "As you were, Cadet. I'm sure we'll see each other later. Good night." Ro turned and left the lab.
Ainkara simply stood in place, a smile on her face denoting her joy at being selected. This Federation was all one could ask for, and if she found her people scattered among the stars then she would do all she could as a Starfleet officer to see to their relocation within these borders. With renewed vigor she returned to her experiment.
