ON:

Kirk had stopped by her quarters and had a shower, seeing to hygiene, and then redressing in her uniform she had put through the refresher. Like Green she preferred the vest variant so she donned that and applied the necessary paraphernalia. Dressed properly, and seeing it was just passed midday, Jim left her quarters and headed for Strategic Ops.

On her way, reading from a PADD and trying to use peripheral to avoid collisions with others, Kirk ended up running into what she thought was a tree, all greenish grey with some brown mixed in. But, the zipper on the tunic told her it was a soldier's uniform. Probably one of Hurd's herd, she sthought as she looked up. BAM! She could run into this guy any time. Built well, no slouching shoulders, standing tall with light brown hair and awesome blue eyes. "Well, hello, Marine." She looked at his collar, then his sleeve. "Or, should I say hello, Corporal?"

"Why does everyone do that?" Asked Barnes, a grin forming. "The security knobs at the gangway did the same thing, calling me marine before recognizing rank. The apology isn't necessary, Lieutenant. I am, forst and foremost, a marine. Corporal is just a gift for getting shot at a few times." He gave a chuckle, and leaned a bit to one side, as if adjusting for comfort.

Looking at his name plate on his sleeve Kirk decided to go a different route. "Okay, Barnes, I won't make the mistake again." She noticed his leaning, as if he had a sore spot in his pelvic area or his back. Maybe the ribs. "You okay, Corporal?"

"Can we talk and walk, Sir?" Asked Barnes, explaining further as they got moving. "It feels better when I move. I'll go wherever you're headed, then cut out once we're there. And, the name is Jackson Barnes, Lieutenant. Jack or JJ, for short." This chic was a looker. What was it Hottie Month and no one told him. First Imogen Harris on Pegasus, who he had promised to look up when Amandora made a port call, and now this fine example of Starfleet females.

Kirk gave a grin in return. "Jamie Kirk. Jim, for short. And, the question remains. Are you alright? You're limping a bit and look to be in pain."

"Well, Sir, I fought the devil and then got kissed by an angel," was his explanation, which elicited a broad smile from him as he winked at her. Barnes gave her that look that what he had said was enough, for now.

Kirk took in the response. So, he got in a fight and then had some fun afterwards, fun with a female. Gotta like a man who can brawl and then pull it together enough to get his carrot wet. "A fight and then some p...ersonal relations. Got it. Was she worth it?" Kirk was teasing him back, giving a cynical grin and raising her eyebrows askance.

Barnes gave a chuckle and looked over at her. "They always are, Sir. Let's just say that the Nausicaan got the worst of it and then a Security officer took my report. She was very...intense." Another chuckle. "Sorry, Sir. She was a good officer who just happened to hit it off with me. No harm done."

Jim shrugged and shook her head slightly. "Not my business, JJ. Who you do carpentry with is your thing."

"Carpentry?" Jack asked, looking confused as to why that was said.

"Yeah. You know, lots of screwing. Hammering. That sorta thing. Carpentry." Kirk gave him another cynical expression, browse raised once more, backed by a lascivious smile.

Not able to help himself Barnes gave a hearty laugh. "I like that, Jim. I'll have to remember that one. Carpentry." he gave another light laugh.

Kirk continued to grin and giggle as she watched him try to collect himself from his own laughter. They got to the door for Strat. Ops. "Well, this is me, Corporal. Stop by and say hi when you have some free time. Plus, I like drinks in the lounge on occasion. Have a good night." She slapped his upper arm and walked into her domain, the door closing behind her as he turned and walked away.

Barnes was still chuckling to himself as he left, having to retrace his steps back to the lift so he could go downstairs to marine country and crash out.
