{Deck 5 - CSO's Office}

Now that the Lieutenant had met her XO, which was a very interesting and enlightening meeting, there was someone else she wanted to meet.....one Ilum Ocha. Tapping her Comm "Ensign Ilum Ocha please report the the CSO's Office" she summoned then re-read his personal file just to refresh her memory a bit.

Ilim was already en route when he heard the call, and arrived at Zolon's office shortly thereafter, tapping the door chime. At an 'enter', he stepped inside and stood at attention. "Ensign Ilim Ocha, reporting sir."

Cassandra looked up from her reading with a smile "Ensign, relax and please have a seat. Can I get you anything to drink?"

Ilim took a seat, his back straight. Although his general perception told him that unlike most military officers, Zolon was genuine in her offer for him to relax, he didn't know her yet. "Water, please."

Cass stepped to the replicator and grabbed a water then handed it to the Ensign "Here you go" as Cassandra took her seat "I see your from Betazed.....you're the third person I've met on this Ship that's Betazoid. So tell me a little bit about yourself and your interest in Botany" she asked noticing the Ensign starting to relax a bit.

Ilim did relax then, sipping the water as he began to discuss his very favorite topic. "I've been interested in the Natural World since I was a small child." He said, intentionally withholding the mystical aspects of his relationship with Eliah, and his status in the order. Such things were usually met with heavy skepticism and it wasn't something one wanted their boss to know about on the first day. "My telepathic abilities tend to extend to less sentient beings, so it was a natural fit for me to study the Nature around me. I joined Starfleet to visit other worlds primarily, and to study their natural biomes." He paused, realizing he'd gone on nonstop about himself. "What about you? What is your chosen field of study?"

"That's very interesting and I admire your dedication" Cass commented "I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities to study nature first hand. As for myself....being the Chief I dabble in most of the Science disciplines but I tend to concentrate on Space itself due to having Bridge duty from time to time."

Ilim nodded, "Makes sense." He said, "Speaking of which, I overheard a crewman saying that we would be visiting a world soon. Something about a distress call." He sat on the edge of his seat, not bothering to hide his excitement. "I don't suppose the away team could use a Botanist?"

Cassandra grinned "I think that could be arranged....matter of fact maybe the Commodore will let us both go on an Away Mission. I'm sure some plants should be sampled for research" she stated.

"Wonderful." He said, smiling warmly. After several seconds, he said, "Was there anything else, Sir?"

"Not really, I wanted to meet new person on my Staff" Cass replied then stood "Welcome aboard Ensign and welcome to the Science Department. I look forward to working with you" as she extended her hand.

Ilim rose and shook her hand. "I look forward to as well, Lieutenant." He said, and left. As he walked out of her office, he felt a presence that he hadn't noticed recede. He paused, considering it, then promised himself he would request access to her file. He was missing something, and he didn't like the feeling.

Cassandra sat back in her chair feeling that the Ensign somehow seemed distracted but she wasn't all that concerned "I'm sure whatever's a distraction will surface in time" she thought then went back to work.
