#141 Not Always on the Same Page/Misunderstanding

Posted on Mon Jan 9th, 2023 @ 11:54pm by Captain Rogue Green {Meji} & Lieutenant JG Ainkara "Kara" {Meji}

Mission: BUGS OH NO!!
Location: Bridge
Timeline: current

ON:

After arriving on the Bridge, and hearing the Commodore roll out her directives, Ro had to hold in her retorts. She used the Core, because if she had not then she would have spouted off. It took a measurable amount of the Control provided by the Core to do so.

Her ire had been raised by the fact that the Commodore seemed to think of these people as weak and needy. Obviously, she had never met true colonists. True pioneers out to build something lasting. They were not stupid. Had she read the report and cared to look at the logged transmission between herself and Governor Bachman, Cyndi would have realized that Dwight had assured her that it was not a life threatening situation, just one that threatened their hard work in terraforming a world. They had scientists with them, and medical personnel were always, always included in scientific research due to the nature of chemistry, biology and so forth. This all bothered Green since she herself had been a colonist, and had survived for three years by herself as a child on Rigo IV after raiders destroyed her colony. Just because Kirk had told her what really happened did not change the fact that the attack is what led to the destruction of the original colony.

As Number One, of course she would choose to send Doctor Long and some of her staff down to the planet. Health inspections were not invasive and were often welcomed, if done in the right way. Should any personnel on this ship begin to push the colonists around like they were in charge simply because they wore the uniform, Green would burn their asses like a rotisserie chicken. Everyone, no matter their position, better be respectful and diplomatic at all times. Because, according to Starfleet regulations, everyone in a uniform was, first and foremost, a diplomat. Even the marines. SFMC did stand for StarFleet Marine Corps, after all. The Amandora was here to help, not take over, and she would make sure that was understood by anyone desiring a trip to the surface.

Cadet Ainkara had been on the Bridge, as was her due, working with the SCI II station and the lateral sensors. Being in orbit the ship needed to maintain scans of the system and planet. Last thing Amandora needed was an ion storm suddenly popping up and being a threat without warning. As she worked Ainkara would glance over her shoulder at Commander Green occasionally, seeing the Human woman standing directly in front of her chair, arms crossed over her chest as her right hand rubbed her chin and rubbed her brow in the body language of someone who was upset in an angry way. "Commander Green," she said, half turning her body to be able to look at both Ro and her station with but a glance.

"What!?" Green's response was clipped, with an edge to it, the anger she was feeling coming out in her tone as she snapped out the word. She immediately corrected herself. "Apologies, Ainkara, what do you need?" Her voice was back to her normal, pleasant self as she walked over to the Voran and stood with her at SCI II.

"Preliminary scans of the planet are completed, Sir. All relevant data has been logged for crew use, and Sciences has a full report." Ainkara reported. But then, as she did see Ro as a friend, she had to ask. But, in a low tone. "Are you feeling alright, Commander?"

"I'm fine," said Green, in a neutral, clipped tone that said now was not the time. "Anything we need to know, Cadet?"

Ainkara gave a slight shaking of her head, dropping the query about the Commander's status immediately. "Not really. Midora III is Class-L, as we already knew. There is sparse vegetation in comparison to a Minshara class, but it does have its own varieties. Other than the colony there is minimal life readings in regards to animals, barely enough to be picked up by the sensors. But, there is something alive down there, though spread out. The water all seems potable, but we won't know about any life there until we take samples and check physically through microscopic research. I'm sure the colonists will have their own data on that and would be willing to share. No special needs in regards to atmosphere. If there are dangerous pathogens or poisonous flora or fauna of any kind then we will have to ask the colony, Sir. Aside from that, they are having main power fluctuations which our sensors detected."

"Thank you, Cadet." Green's voice was once again back to a more pleasant tone. "Well done. Prepare yourself, Cadet, this will be your first away mission and you will be going down with one of the groups, officially. Keep in mind you will be graded."

"Of course, Commander. I look forward to it." Ainkara went back to her scans as Green nodded at her and walked away.

Ro walked over to the Tactical station, tapping keys and setting up the shipwide broadcast. "Attention, crew of Amandora, this is Commander Green. We are currently in orbit above Midora III, a Class-L planet with an established colony. It is wide open country down there, a new world being terraformed by those who chose to live here. We are here to assist them with maintenance and any other needs they may have. I'm sure I don't have to tell you to follow regulations and protocol, and to be on your best behavior when among them. Since the world does not present immediate dangers then it is free to visit with the colony's permission, of course. When not on shift I will arrange it so that anyone who wants to walk on turf may beam down as they see fit, when off-duty. Science and Medical, get your people prepared and stand by for further orders in regards to going down and exploring and for assisting. Engineering, there are fluctuations in their power grid so gather work teams together and either go down by transporter or shuttle. Lieutenant Kirk has her people prepared and waiting for anyone choosing to fly down. Thank you for your ear. Green, out." She tapped the comm off. "There we are, Commodore, the crew is informed and orders given. If you'll pardon me, Sir, I need to leave the Bridge for personal reasons."

Not waiting for a response Green spun on her heel and left the Bridge using the aft section lift. She needed to meditate, to center herself. What Cyndi had said should not bother her this much. So, what was? Reaching inward could provide answers. Ro laid in a direct course for her quarters, went inside, and then put up the DO NOT DISTURB on her chime panel, unless an emergency was called.
