Mission:
BUGS OH NO!!
Location: USS Euphrates
Timeline: current
ON:
For half a day Green, Dwight, and the two scientists wandered the depths of the ocean on Midora III. Again and again they kept hearing the whale song sounds, but when they would go that direction the sounds would dissipate and they would find nothing. Among them the hypothesis was that it was either a creature hiding itself from discovery, or it was just some form of underwater anomaly caused by tectonics making the sound. For Ro that made no sense. Why would it suddenly stop, and then be heard at various locations. Sensors found nothing and the sonar gave no pings but the sound still came from far away, and from different locations. The Gorn were invisible to sensors and biological scans as newborns, and as eggs. Perhaps this creature could knowingly mask itself, to become one with the ocean around it, and knew where to go to hide in its natural environment. It was a mystery yet to be solved, and one Green was not willing to partake of any longer. Her concerns were on the Amandora and all the changes as of late. After dropping off Doctor Cameron and his peer, Ro lifted off with just her and Dwight aboard the runabout, achieving high orbit and setting auto-pilot so they could talk.
There was a full minute of silence, as if both had something on their minds, but did not know how to broach the subject. Finally, Green spoke. "So, I need to know, Dwight. Where are we?"
Trying to be his casually funny self, he gave a response. "We are in orbit over Midora III."
"Ha-ha," Ro said with a sarcastic tone, looking over at him as he sat in the co-pilot's seat. Her tone went back to normal. "I meant WE, as in you and I. For my part I have fallen madly in love with you. Not trying to scare you off, just stating a fact. So, again I ask. Where are we? WHAT are we? Just a fling or, something more?"
After a few long moments of contemplation Dwight looked over at her. "I, too, have fallen for you, Ro. I never thought that this would happen for me so I am...hesitant. To lose you would be a blow to my heart, and one that might make me bitter. To be honest I don't want to be that way, ever. So, I have held back how I feel in case you didn't feel the same, to save myself from heartbreak." He gave her the warmest, most loving smile. "Now that I know where your heart lies I am filled with joy, Love."
Getting up from her seat Green reached a hand out for him to clasp, which he did as he got to his feet to match. Green hugged him and then kissed him deeply, with all the passion and love she could muster. When they broke, still holding each other close, she smiled up at him. Her eyes were misty but not yet full of the tears of joy she knew would eventually come. "I love you, Dwight. I fell for you the first time I saw you, knowing there was something special about you. Then, when you spoke, it all came together. My soul knew you were the one. I am yours, Love. Always and forever."
Holding his beloved to himself, chest to chest, Dwight smiled down at her, looking into those beautiful blue eyes. "My own feelings match yours. Love at first sight does have meaning, and I knew I wanted to get to know you from the first time I saw you. It took all my willpower not to grab you up and hug you the first time we met face to face, to kiss you and beg you to become a lowly colonist and join me in building something lasting and beautiful. As you say, I am yours. There is no one else."
The tears began to roll and Ro tried to stop them and when she failed she simply hugged him, placing her head on his chest and feeling secure in his arms. For a few minutes they stood there embracing as Ro got her tears under control, both of them enjoying the simple act of being ONE. As she got herself under control Green lifted her head up and looked at him, swiping the last remnants of tears from her cheeks. "I love you. But, you need to know something. It's important."
Dwight could tell that whatever it was was making her somewhat anxious. Did she have another lover she had to get rid of first? Or, was this about the strangeness he had perceived in her from the beginning? "Do tell."
"First, let me ask. Would you consider coming with us? To live with me on Amandora and to be together? In my heart you are my husband, my mate. Would you consider it?" Green's eyes searched his face for signs, her ears listening to his heart beat for any indication of duplicity, the Force around her and causing her to trust her feelings.
"I have already considered it," Dwight admitted, smiling at her. "At first it was a difficult concept, leaving all these wonderful people; my extended family. But, after the past few days my heart showed me that being with you is a far better place in my life. To build something between us. The colony will be fine without me, and they will always prosper. But, it will forever be my hearth. Amandora will be my home."
Green gave him a warm kiss. "Then, what I need to say will be said. I'm glad you want to come with us, that way you can watch your children be born and see them grow." She saw his eyes widen in surprise and joy. "I am carrying twins, Love. A boy and a girl. Our children."
Dwight gave a yowl of joy and wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her off the floor and doing a few circles in place before setting her down again. "That is...well...it's wonderful! A blessing! By the stars I do love you so!" He kissed her deeply for a few moments.
Having gotten that out of the way, and voiced, Green had Dwight sit down as she began to open up to him about everything. More depth in how she came to be who she was now, the Force, her relationship with the Q known as Qeritas; all of it. She left nothing out, wanting him to know it all so there would be no surprises. He too opened up more, telling her of his many adventures and all the things he had been involved in and done while traveling. For three hours they went back and forth with their stories, laughing, hugging, kissing, and even sharing some sorrow during more poignant aspects. But, in the end, they were now ONE. A union that would last a lifetime.
"I'll beam you down so you can inform the colony," said Ro. "I'll return to the ship and take care of my business, and arrange for our newest civilian crew member to join us. Would you like quarters of your own, Sir, or would you prefer sharing?" She gave a giggle and a cheeky wink.
"I'll take my chances with a room mate, thank you."
They both laughed. Green gave him a few kisses as he stepped into the transporter, then stepped back and energized. He shimmered out of sight. Going to the pilot's seat Ro took over the controls from auto-pilot and turned back towards the Amandora. She could not stop smiling the entire way there.
