Mission:
BUGS OH NO!!
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: current
ON:
Upon returning to the Amandora, Commander Green went to her quarters and showered, saw to hygiene, and then dressed in her uniform, going with the vest variant over the red shirt rather than the tunic. Once that was done, and listed as back on duty in the ship's log, Green left her Fortress of Solitude, saber on her side once more, and took a direct course to Sickbay. Entering the main doorway she glanced around the main area, not seeing Long. Looking to the CMO's office, she could then see the Doctor at her desk, but her stance was that of someone in thought not someone who was checking over reports. Excellent. Walking over she gently knocked on the door jam. "Kris, are you available?"
Kristian looked up and smiled "Yes I am, I'm sorry I was daydreaming, please come in and have a seat,"
Ro walked into her office, but remained standing. "Do you have any instruments in here? I need an exam since I am now pregnant. Standard protocols, and all that." She smiled.
"Pregnant, congratulations commander, and yes I have instruments in here.," Kristian said getting up and walking over to a nearby closet, unlocked it and returned with a medical tri-coder and a hypo-spray just in case. Walking over she shut her office door and closed the curtains to give the commander some privacy.
"Thanks," said Ro, in response to the congratulations. The silly smile returned to her face, and she did feel a bit shy and embarrassed. "You know my physiology, similar to the Augments from Khan's day. Their father is a pure blood El-Aurian. Almost exactly like humans, but through their own genetic manipulation they increased their longevity and stamina, and made themselves a bit tougher than most. I just want to make sure we will mix well being so close in our species traits. The twins, a boy and girl, require my utmost health."
Kristian opened her tri-coder and scanned Ro carefully, she took extra care considering the difference in species. After several minutes she closed her tri-coder "Everything looks normal, I'll keep an eye on you. But you do know once the commodore finds out she won't let you lead an away team if there's a chance of danger. And as for species, my mum is Amazon and my dad is human and my brother and I turned out fine. We're not as strong or as fast as full Amazons. You and the babies will be just fine."
Green's shoulders visibly relaxed, deathly afraid that there would be an issue. Now, hearing there was not, she could release the tension from her anxiety. "That is such a relief, Kris. Thank you. Oh, and their father will be joining us on Amandora. He's the Governor, currently, but went down to pass the torch to someone else. Dwight Bachman, is his name." She giggled nervously. "I'll have to find something for him to do as a civilian crew member or he'll go nuts."
"I'm sure there is something aboard he can do. I'm happy for you, truly happy you deserve happiness," Kristian said "You know with the moral officer leaving maybe he could do that? If that's not to his liking there is plenty of things to do on a star ship."
"I see our great minds still think alike," Green replied with a smile. "I was thinking the same thing. Something in diplomacy. However, when Tara and Dwight met to discuss her hydroelectric idea they were pretty much at odds. He wasn't opposed, just trying to voice his concerns over damaging the natural beauty of the planet. I stepped in and all went forward." She gave a giggle. "I think that if I ask him to eat glass he would."
"Speaking of my cousin, that waterfall project is done and it's up and running. She plans to meet with him and show his people how to operate and maintain it," Kristian said "She doesn't think he likes her."
Green's smile disappeared. "Then she needs to re-evaluate herself as Diplomatic Chief. Not because he is my lover, but because she gets pushy and intense, and even the slightest negative thing said tends to make her want to quit. I saw it and heard it myself. He pushed back a little and she immediately got defensive. That is not how negotiation works." Taking in a breath to relax and get back to normal, Ro continued. "Dwight is very easy going. He respected her for taking a stand but found her intensity a bit overwhelming. So, he got defensive in return when she acted like she was just going to walk away and leave. Not everything is everyone else's fault. There are three things we are all victims of: Our own ignorance, our own pride/selfishness, and our own bad choices. I suffer from them every day so this is NOT pointing a finger at anyone, just a fact we all need to take to heart."
Ro stopped, and this time used the Force to get back to easy-going. "Sorry, Kris. With all the changes going on aboard I am being pulled in several directions at once. She did a great job with the waterfall, Dwight even checked on it while we were together and was impressed. He wanted to tell her so personally, and now he will get that chance."
Kristian nodded "I've spoken to her and reminded her of that very thing and as our future Queen she needs to be more diplomatic as it goes a long way. Trust me commander she'll be fine. She worked her butt off on it and Alesha even helped as well as Admiral Sanderson. Between the 50 Amazon engineers, the ones from this ship, the commodore's husband and Alesha and Tara it was up and running a lot faster than she'd hoped. I look forward to meeting Dwight."
Ro's eyes lit up as a memory passed through her mind, bringing forth an idea not related to the current conversation. It returned her to the smiling Green, though. "Speaking of intensity, I need to tone mine down a bit. Again, my apologies for ranting at you. I'll speak to Tara and Dwight separately, because I know they would work well together. With the waterfall complete then I'm sure he will remain as Governor until all the T's are crossed and the I's dotted." Green gave Long a hug. "Thanks, your counsel is always welcome. And, you are the Doctor responsible for my children's well being."
"No apology needed, Tara like myself are starfleet Officers and Royals second. You had every right to rant and as for counsel as you know all doctors are required to take a semester in counseling. And sometimes all a person needs is someone to listen to," Kristian said as she pulled open a desk drawer and handed Ro two small white stones. "This is an Amazon custom when someone is with child or children. They in our custom are meant to provide restfulness for both the mother as well as the babies and are believed to aid in childbirth. I'd like you to have them and please place them near where the babies will sleep and the other on your side of your bed. They've been blessed by our high priestess. I'll take good care of you and your children."
Green accepted the stones. "I appreciate it. And, it's okay if others know. I asked Cyndi, Kirk and Resch to not say anything until after the exam. Now that it is done I have no worries. But, I have something I need to see to so I will let you get back to doctor stuff." She giggled.
"My head was far from doctor stuff, I need to focus as there is a lot to go over. Stop by in about a month to see me until then no restrictions," Kristian said.
"Will do," said Green. "if anything starts to feel wrong I'll come in immediately. I have a stack of reports to get to so I'll see you later. Take care." Ro spun on her heel and left the office, and then Sickbay.
