#28 A Concern

Mission: Vanished
Location: Ready Room
Timeline: current

ON:

Once the teams had been decided, Green needed to speak to Cyndi. So, leaving helm in charge of the Bridge she went and chimed the CO's Ready Room.

Cyndi was looking out her ready room window at the star base that was in transporter range when her door chime went off. "Come in!" she called and turned from the window to see who was coming.

Stepping inside, moving casually, Green came forth towards her friend and commander. She came in to stand next to the woman so she too could view the starbase. "If I ever get a command of my own, I think I'll take a base out on the fringe. The frontier has always fascinated me."

Cyndi nodded "It's the unknown, Paul had a base command once his promotion to rear admiral. I've toyed with the idea of a base command but I prefer to explore."

Green smiled. "That's why I said out on the fringe. A Deep Space station, nothing but ourselves and our wits to keep us going. Anyway," she waved that off for now, not wanting to get off-topic as to why she was here. "That's a conversation over lunch or something. My main concern, and reason, for being here is Lieutenant Kirk. This whole Mirror thing has me wondering; which Kirk did we get? The one from over there, or ours. Those who know her say she has not been acting like her old self lately, that there's more pomp and circumstance to what she says and does."

Cyndi turned and looked at Ro "I've wondered the same thing. I feel we have the mirror one. Our Kirk is elsewhere. Something with this one is off and I can't put a finger on it."

Ro gave a sigh of relief. "Glad we're on the same page. With that being a concern, Cyndi, I want your blessing for me removing her from Strategic Operations, as either chief or a member. There is sensitive data in that department and the last thing we need is a Mirror spy sending it all to their reality."

"Agreed, and change the codes. Question is what do we do with her? She's already gained a lot of knowledge from us," Cyndi commented "But there is something we can do to erase that part of her memory. I know how to do it, but do we have that right?"

"No, we don't." Stated Green. "The codes can be changed, not an issue. And, whatever information she may have gained so far, would not be much. We were on boring patrol and now are in a situation. We leave her as FC chief so that way she is on the Bridge and watchable by those around her. I'll run StratOps again until a suitable replacement can be found."

"Restrict her access to sensitive material on the ship. Change the codes and we'll keep an eye on her," Cyndi said "Take Strat Ops for now."

Green tapped at her personal PADD while they spoke. "She is now restricted. Even as a department head her clearance for classified data is now at level 3. Without you, me, or Jamie to say otherwise, she can't get into systems without authorization."

"Good enough and when Jamie returns we'll fill him in on this. I'm glad you picked up on this as well as I thought it was just me," Cyndi commented.

"Just so you know, Cyndi, I sent word to Starfleet Command, as well. An official report on all that we know about her and her trip through the Mirror. And, with Jamie as Security Chief, I'm sure he'll be just fine with all this." Ro gave a contented sigh. "It's been eating at me for weeks now. With Ainkara as my Acolyte and my XO duties, not to mention motherhood, one less worry is a blessing."

"That's fine with me and now as a mother you see why my son is safely on Klavor. I have enough to worry about and having my son safe back home is a load off my shoulders," Cyndi said "Have you heard back from command yet and we do need to find a way to send this Kirk back and get our Kirk here again."

Green gave a few nods as Cyndi spoke. "My children will stay with me, unless Dwight wants to take them home to Midora III. He's been thinking of returning. I love him, and there is no other for me, so I am fine with it, as is he. As for command, no. Not a peep, which has me wondering. As for getting our Kirk back I can think of two people off the top of my head that may be able to help with that. Zolon and Nira."

"Sub space could take time and we are a distance out. If a rescue to get our Kirk back and send this one where she belongs then yes Zolon and Nira are the two for the job," Cyndi replied "Should David return to MidoraIII, he'll be a long way away. Can you handle a long distance relationship? Perhaps we can find something aboard the ship for him to do."

"We're still discussing it," said Ro. "He misses the life of beaches and sunshine. The holodeck just doesn't do it justice, he says." She gave a smile at that. "Yes, we're both committed to each other. Long distance, or not, we are one. I keep hinting at diplomacy, so we'll see where he lands on that."

"If he agrees to diplomacy I'm sure Herculoid would welcome the help and there is no reason he'll not be able to go on an away mission from time to time and be on a planet,' Cyndi commented "Perhaps he and Paul could become friends as well. Paul gets bored in our quarters all day."

Green giggled. "I think that is part of it. Being El-Aurian, his long life span has had him doing all sorts of things. I think he is finally stuck as to what he wants to do, not expecting fatherhood or a mate in his life. But, we'll see how it goes. I just wanted to keep you up to date on what I had going on. The short of it is; I don't trust Kirk anymore. Not right now."

"Nor do I and it goes without saying she's to be kept away from any weapons," Cyndi said.

"Unless on away missions, I agree," Green responded. "But, I should get back to the Bridge. We have four objectives to get back to normal."

"I'll be out there soon as well," Cyndi said "I'm glad we agree on Kirk."

"Makes it easier, for sure," stated Green. With nothing more to be said Commander Ro Green left the Ready Room and returned to the Bridge.
