#14 Returning To Duty

Mission:
Wedding Blues And Trouble
Location: XO quarters
Timeline: current
ON:
Green was in her quarters in meditation, her body sitting lotus in the center of the main room, levitating a meter above the deck. Her eyes were closed and around her, like planets around a sun, were various knick-knacks from the shelves around her. In her communion with the Core Ro reached out across the cosmos, receiving images in her mind, feelings, and a plethora of other metaphysical data. As the Grand Master of her own Meji Order it was something she tried to partake in every day. As she floated in total contentment there was a ripple in the Core, a disturbance she could feel, and it was happening right here in her quarters. With her facing she was looking at her main door as her eyes opened, noting a fist sized ball of amber sparks beginning to form and expand out. The Eldritch portal that Nira could use to travel light years in an instant by simply stepping through.
Putting her feet on the deck, Green could see the Puazi woman, the jungles of her homeworld Puaza all around and behind the lavender skinned female. Once the portal was open enough for Nira to step through she did just that, a big smile on her face, and as the portal closed behind the Puazi, Green stepped in and they embraced warmly. Green held the woman's face in her hands a moment, then gave another hug and a kiss on the cheek. "So good to see you, Sister!"
As per usual, having used her Eldritch Magick to travel a great distance across the Universe, Nira leaned into her dearest friend and spirit sister. "You, as well, Dear Ro." Her accent, a combination that reminded Green of both an Eastern European and Spanish speaking Central American all in one, trilled her R's which made the Commander smile.
"Come on, sit down." Ro led her friend to a chair in her sitting area. "Drink?"
Nira did not plop into the chair, but she did sit heavily as her tush made contact. "Thank you. And, yes, raktajino."
"You got it," said Green, going to the replicator. After inputting the order for two raktajinos, she returned to her guest and handed one over before sitting down on her small sofa. "You're back early. Everything okay?"
"Seh-seh (yes)," Nira answered, taking a moment to drink some of her hot beverage. "But, I have something for you and Cyndi." She pulled a small palm PADD from off her belt and handed it over. "My husband chooses to remain on Puaza. That is his resignation."
Taking the offered device, Green opened it and perused the data there. It saddened her to lose a man like Sean Silk, a dedicated physician and marine, but people often broke away from Starfleet to conduct their lives elsewhere. "It wasn't the Amandora, was it?" As Number One, there was a concern there for how the ship conducted itself.
"Neh-neh (no)." Nira took more sips of her beverage as she felt her energy returning. It would take a few more hours for her to completely recover. "He wants Sera to be among her people for her formative years, and in all honesty, he has fallen in love with Puaza and the way of life for our tribes. He is becoming quite skilled in his own right, even for a Human."
Green gave a giggle and smile, putting the PADD down on the table next to her drink. "Some Humans are go-getters. You know this after serving here for so many years. We are survivors who learn to adapt quickly."
Nira downed the last of her Klingon coffee, setting the mug aside. "His physical strength is nowhere near Puazi, but what he lacks there he makes up for with tenacity and a no-quit attitude. He has earned the respect of the Matriarch." She gave her own smile. "That, and our daughter likes to tease him about how he is now acting like a child, not her. Doesn't know what to do, noisy, all that." She gave a giggle. "Seraasha is too much like her mother."
Green laughed along. "Why does that not surprise me." Once they settled from the giggling Ro changed lanes. "I'm glad you're back...wait. You are back, right? Not just a quick visit?"
"Yes, Number One, I am returning to duty." Nira got to her feet and went to a more central location in Green's main room, doing isometric exercises to get her physiology back on the mend from the exertion necessary for a portal jump.
Green stood, as well, moving over near to Nira but at a distance so as not to hinder the necessary exercises the Puazi needed. "Excellent. You are needed, Chief. Both Jamie and Maria got called away for personal reasons. Family related. When they will return is yet to be determined. So, as you have served as chief of Security before O'Connell, I am placing you as acting chief until either of them returns, or both."
"Of course, Commander. I will, as you say, hold the fort."
"Thank you," Green responded. "We've had enough issues as of late. Lack of Security would be detrimental, in my opinion." Ro could not help herself, and as her friend and sister finished her exercises, she stepped in and hugged the woman again. "I have much to tell you," She said into Nira's hair and neck. "Personal issues. We'll talk when the time allows."
Nira held her friend closely, warmly, feeling that there was much Green needed to speak about. But, being Ro, the ship came first. It was her way. They came apart and stood toe to toe. "I am all ears, as you say." Another crooked smile.
"Still have that sense of humor, I see." Green could not help but grin back.
"I learn from best," answered Nira, tapping Ro's chest lightly and with respect. "But, let me get things arranged. I need to catch up on what we're doing."
"Please, do." Said Green. "We're in route to a vessel of unknown origin. And, we may need you over there."
"Aye," Nira responded. "I'll get to it then."
Once the Puazi left Green took up her command PADD and added Nira back onto the roster as on duty, and acting CTO (Chief Tactical Officer). There were other ideas she had, that needed to be prepped for. So, scooping up her own personal palm PADD and sliding it into her thigh pocket, Ro left her cabin.
