Mission:
Wedding Blues And Trouble
Location: Sick Bay
Timeline: Current
ON:
Cyndi having received word from sick bay that the Cardassian's were now all awake sent word to Long to report to sick bay, turning to Ro. "Commander our final guests are awake, I received word from Doctor Shelya informing me. I've ordered Doctor Long to report there. Care to join me?" Cyndi know what her XO's answer would be. "Lieutenant Montgomery you have the bridge."
Green got to her feet in order to accompany her CO. She had just been ready to tell Cyndi that Dwight and her children were once more on board, but this cropped up moments before she was able to open the topic. It could wait until a more appropriate time. As Cyndi moved along, Ro fell in step with her.
Cyndi and Ro stepped into the lift and headed for sick bay.
Kristian having received orders to report to sick bay that the final Cardassian's were awake. Walking in Kristian donned her lab coat and walked over to there the Cardassian's were. "I'm Doctor Long the CMO. I'm glad to see your awake. The commodore and first officer are on the way."
"Excellent," Perus responded, that pleasant grin on his face. "Doctor Sheyla has been most helpful, and prompt, it seems."
Sheyla gave the Legate a teasing curtsy. "Awww, thank you, M'lord." She then walked over from where she had been, adjusting the readouts for a biobed that was undergoing a diagnostic. "Sorry, Doctor," she said to Long, her blue skin turning a slightly darker shade on her cheeks as she blushed with embarrassment.
Perus merely observed, crossing his arms over his chest and using one hand to stroke his chin, hiding his burgeoning smile at the antics of the Andorian physician. She was quite the extrovert. He had taken her curtsy and what she said in stride, seeing it was meant in humor, which he appreciated. "A pleasure to meet you, Doctor Long. Your medical staff are top notch," he said, his eyes glancing towards Sheyla before coming back to the CMO.
"My apologies that I wasn't here when you woke up. I took a break to get a bite to eat," Kristian said giving a curtsy. "Doctor Shelya is an excellent physician so you all were in good hands."
"No need to apologize, Doctor." Perus recovered from his humor, his countenance still friendly but more professional. "We all need to clear our heads from time to time."
"Please feel free to call me Kristian or Kris. No offense but after dealing with the Princess I did need a break," Kristian said
About that time Cyndi walked in "I'm Commodore Song, the commanding officer. Welcome aboard my ship. I hope my doctors have not poked you too much," Cyndi said winking at Kristian and Shelya as it was all in fun "This is my first officer Commander Green."
Perus gave Sheyla a smile and wink. "You're good, Doctor Sheyla. Not only did you get the CMO, but the other two, as well. Were you under my command you would be commended." His attention went back to the three women who had entered. "As with Sheyla, I apologize, Kris. My manners are a bit confuzzled after the cryo-sleep. I am Legate Perus, and these are my staff officers. Glin Tarsus," he motioned to the other male. "And, Gul Karden." He motioned to the woman. "An honor to meet you, Commodore, and a pleasure. You, as well, Commander."
"The pleasure is mine, Sir." Green responded. "Welcome aboard the USS Amandora."
"No need to apologize, cryo-sleep is hard on anyone, and yes Doctor Shelya will be commended, she's a fine doctor," Cyndi replied "It's a pleasure to meet you sir and a relief to meet someone without the attitude of the Princess. There is no reason for her behavior. My diplomatic chief will be speaking to her and hopefully can get her to be less demanding."
Perus gave a cynical chuckle, shaking his head a bit as he looked at Cyndi. "Commodore, that has been my mission since I joined her on this endeavor. The Princess is, shall we say, insufferable. However, my duty prevents me from giving up. She has no respect for anyone."
"We noticed," said Sheyla.
That got Perus back to grinning. "As I explained to Doctor Sheyla, we three were laying here, conscious, waiting for you lot to finish speaking with her before we decided to show that we too were awake. Listen," he paused a moment, his eyes angling upwards and looking around with mock astonishment. "It is both quiet and peaceful. With that woman around, neither is possible."
"I feel sorry for Lieutenant Herculoid," Kristian said "But if anyone can get through to her my cousin might be able to. She won't back down and given her position on our home planet she might just be the one."
"One thing this Princess needs to understand is to be a royal is to follow orders of your government and that is what Tara will tell her," Cyndi remarked "We'll do our best to get through to her. I can confine her to quarters or even the brig so relax gentlemen and let Herculoid see what she can do with her. Is there anything you want my officer to talk to her about regarding the coming wedding?"
"There is a vast difference between being a noble, and being NOBLE," stated Sheyla. "Every 'royal' I have ever met is narcissistic, carries an attitude of 'I do what I want', and looks down on others. Yet, you ask them basic knowledge questions and seven times out of ten they can't give you an answer because their 'superior' intellect is focused on all the wrong things. Who's dating who, who has more influence through wealth and unearned prestige, which fellow noble can they screw over to attain more power, all that."
Green's face showed amusement as Sheyla spoke, her visage showing various changes in light of what was said. A moment of consideration, eyes widening here and there as certain points were hit, and keeping herself from grinning or busting out with a giggle. She knew that anyone looking at her would see that her mouth so desperately wanted to smile, but she kept that from happening by pursing her lips whenever that action tried to surface. "Thank you, Doctor Sheyla. Your feelings on the matter are quite clear."
Legate Perus glanced around at the group. "Your honest assessment is refreshing, Doctor Sheyla. It sums up how the three of us feel about Princess Zoreen. We are here to support and look after a member of the groom's family. A Cardassian named Peck. I have not seen him. Is he well?" He noted a wink come from Commander Green as he finished speaking, doing it while all the others were focused on him so as not to allow them to see it. He surmised that her wink meant that she fully agreed with his attitude towards the Princess.
"Peck is fine, he's in VIP quarters four doors away from the Princess," Kristian assured him "That Princess needs an attitude adjustment. Don't let her attitude hinder your feelings towards Royals. Most of the ones I know are highly intelligent and have not gotten where they are just because they are a royal."
"What I'd like to do is to invite everyone to my private dinning room for a dinner. That will be my officers, the princess and everyone from the sleeper ship. I'll have my chef prepare Cardassian and Quantion dishes. Of course you'll need time to rest and freshen up. Say tomorrow at eighteen hundred hours?" Cyndi asked.
"Eighteen hundred?" Perus asked, looking at Gul Karden.
"That is six in the evening, Legate," answered Karden. She knew damn well that Perus understood Earth military time, but she maintained her stoic appearance, playing along with her superior.
"Ah, yes. How soon I forget." Perus then looked to Cyndi, giving a bow from the neck. "I would be delighted to dine with you and your officers, Commodore. However, if I wanted to dine on Cardassian cuisine I would have stayed home." He gave a smile, showing he was teasing but also meaning to sample other foods. "Experience is a must when one travels the stars. Cardassians love a fine meal, and I would be most appreciative if I could have a dish from Earth. I've had it once before and it was delicious."
"What meal is it you seek, Legate," asked Green. "We can prepare and present almost every dish known on Earth, with few exceptions."
"Seafood alfredo," Perus beamed. "The one time I had it, it was superb."
"I'll see to it and it will be done," Cyndi assured him and you've made a very good point. I'll have a variety of different things prepared."
"I've always heard good things about Starfleet," said Perus. "Now, I know they were true."
As he spoke Ro began to feel an uneasiness. It was not emanating from the Legate, per se, but it was present. The Core was trying to tell her something, something elusive. When time allowed she would need to meditate and focus her energy on a possible discernment. "I know the perfect officer, Legate Perus. Quite the cook. I shall have him make you a personal version of the seafood dish. And, the replicators do provide fish juice, sir, if you and your people are so inclined to drink a beverage of Cardassian origin."
"Again, I thank you all," stated Perus with a broad smile. "I shall sing praises about the altruistic nature of Starfleet and the Federation. You have my gratitude, Commodore."
"It's my pleasure, your an honored guest, and I do my best to make my guests as comfortable as possible. I'm sure you'll find the VIP guest quarters comfortable and Commander Green as she said will see to it that your dish is prepared," Cyndi said as she looked to the two doctors "Doctors Long and Shelya are they ready should they wish to go to their quarters for some rest?"
Kristian and a couple more scans and then nodded "They are commodore. Gentlemen if you need anything medical please look us up. My quarters are not far from sick bay."
Sheyla gave nods of agreement to what Kris was saying, and when she finished she said her piece. "They are in perfect health, Commodore. I am in agreement with Doctor Long. Also, there are no signs of any contagions brought over from the ship they were on. They are safe for others to be around."
"Gentlemen if your ready for your quarters I can show you to them. You'll be on the same deck as the Princess but several doors away," Kristian said.
Perus gave a pleasant nod to Kris. "Thank you, lead on, Doctor." He then looked to Sheyla, reaching out and taking up her right hand. "You have been most gracious, Doctor Sheyla. You are a credit to your people and your profession." He then kissed her knuckles, gave a respectful bow from the neck, and released her hand.
"Thank you, Sir." Sheyla responded, allowing the gesture. She watched him begin to follow Kris towards the door.
Green leaned her way slightly, grinning. "Seems you made quite an impression, Lieutenant."
"Not by choice, Commander," Sheyla said, under her breath. "I just did my job." She gave the Commodore a nod, as well, since what they both had said had not been meant in secrecy, just between the Starfleet staff.
"It was a matter of diplomacy," Cyndi said You and Kristian did well.
Kristian led the way to the lift and stepped inside and waited for Shelya, Persus, Gul Karden, the commodore and Ro if they chose to come along. If not Kristian could see to it.
Sheyla was grateful that the Commodore saw what she had been doing. Playing diplomat while keeping the Cardassian talking long enough for superiors to show up. She pulled her palm PADD from her thigh pocket and tapped the screen, stopping the recording function before she slipped it back into her pocket. "I need to go see Chief Nira. If you'll excuse me?"
Green nodded. "Go ahead, Doctor. We've got this."
Giving a nod of thank you and goodbye, Sheyla departed Sickbay as they did, but turned in another direction.
Ro got in beside Cyndi as they escorted the Cardassians through the corridors.
They arrived at the lift and stepped inside. Cyndi waited for the Cardassian's, Kristian and Ro to join her. "Deck two," Cyndi said once everyone was in the lift.
Looking as casual as possible, Green made sure that her body was between the Cardassians and the Commodore, as much as possible, while maintaining a nonchalant stance. The Cardassians did not say a word, simply followed along on the escort.
Perus finally spoke up. "This is a fine vessel, Commodore. Perfect for delivering a Princess to her destination."
"I thank you sir, The Amandora is one of the newest ships in the fleet and one of the flag ships. We'll get the Princess to Cardassia with no problems. I have one of the finest crews in Starfleet. Most hand chosen by me, I wanted the best," Cyndi replied.
"I see that you and I share a command style," Perus said. "I, too, chose my staff officers back in the mists of prehistory when I commanded a Galor. Those were the days, and I do miss them often."
"I find that by hand picking my officers I get the best," Cyndi said "Commander Green is my right hand and I don't know where I'd be without her. Doctor Long is one of the best as well is Doctor Shelya." Cyndi was careful not to reveal too much.
Perus got a look of longing in his eyes as they came to rest on Ro. "Wait, you're Commander Rogue Green, correct?"
Ro scrunched her face a bit in confusion, curious as to how, and why, he knew her name. "Yes, Legate. That's correct. May I ask why that interests you, or how you know my name?"
"You're the Starfleet officer who started some type of religion, aren't you? What was it...ah, yes. The Meji Order, if memory serves." Perus had the ingratiating smile on his face again.
Green gave a nod. "That is true. I am the Grand master of the Meji Order. However, my Starfleet duties take priority."
Perus gave a nod. "I can now see why you are the First Officer. Duty is its own reward." His eyes went back to Cyndi. "That is the one thing I admire most about Starfleet and the UFP. Many people from various walks of life all working for the same goal. Peace and exploration."
Cyndi nodded "I have Vulcans's Humans, Klingon's, Doctor Long, Lieutenant Herculoid and my fighter commander are Amazon's from the Planet Amzock, just to name some of my crew. I'm Klavorian from the Planet Klavor so yes I have diverse crew."
"One of my medical staff is from Denulboia," Kristian said as the lift began to slow.
Perus gave nods to their conversation, then the lift stopped and the door opened.
Green remained completely poker-faced, but her instincts were telling her there was more to this Legate Perus than meets the eyes. She had yet to meet anyone who had heard of the Meji Order since it had been newly formed not too long ago, and the only other member was Ainkara. Just who had Perus learned his information from? But, remaining stoic, she waited for Long or Song to get them moving again.
Kristian stepped out of the lift first followed by the two Cardassian's, Cyndi stepped out behind them. Cyndi briefly placed her hand on er pocketed phaser
"Your quarters are this way," Kristian said turning to wait for the commodore and Green, she'd seen Cyndi place her hand on her pocket briefly where her concealed phaser was. But said nothing.
Arriving at the suites for the Cardassian guests, Green stopped with the group. "Here you are, Legate. The doors will respond to your presence for entry and exit. Please, do not be insulted but we will place sentries in the corridor, for your own protection and for escorts should you wish to take a walk. I advise listening to them when they say that certain areas are off limits."
"If there is anything you need please let the command staff know. And we'll see you for dinner," Cyndi said
"Thank you, all of you. We'll be fine until then." Said Perus. The three Cardassians entered their suite and the door closed behind them.
Green gave a sigh of relief as soon as the door closed. "Glad that's over. But, I have a family to get back to. Until later, ladies." She gave a smiling nod, having not told anyone they were back aboard even though she had added them as family to the manifest as Number One. She would leave Cyndi and Kris to guess what she meant as she stepped into the lift and got whisked away.
Kristian and Cyndi walked from the VIP quarters and headed for the lift "Cyndi did you hear the commander say she had a family to get back to? You don't supposed somehow Dwight and the twins were able to get here?" Kristian asked
"If they are aboard there is only one way that that is by Nira," Cyndi said "I'll leave it up to her to say something. Until then I'm not saying anything."
"I noticed you briefly had your hand on your phaser, you expecting trouble?" Kristian commented
"I don't know, but time will tell," Cyndi replied "You and Shelya have done an outstanding job. Get some rest."
