#9 Easing Down

Posted on Fri Jan 12th, 2024 @ 1:28pm by Captain Rogue Green {Meji} & Lieutenant JG Ainkara "Kara" {Meji}

Mission: Hijacked
Location: SB Danvers/planet
Timeline: current

ON:

Ro and Kara had sprinted through the jungle leading them away from the ruins and towards the base beach recreation area. Ainkara had a nard time keeping up with her Master, seeing as how Green was, by definition, what Humans referred to as an Augment. They came to the edge of the tree line, a small clearing they could catch their breath in and remain hidden from view. Green put on the brakes, stopping so suddenly that her boots left divots in the sand where she slid to a stop.

Kara, wary of what was coming from her Master, the Core telling her that Ro was full of anger and hatred, stopped herself a pace away. "Master?"

Green was breathing heavily but not from the exertion she had just been a part of. Relying on the Control discipline within the Core, Ro got her breathing and her emotional content under control. If she let it all have free reign then her goal would be death and destruction, not caring about the innocents involved. That was not her way, and something she most definitely did not want for the Meji Order. "I need to calm myself." She paced back and forth, her mind full of various ideas, as she began to contemplate the best approach. "If I don't, this will be a blood bath."

"Perhaps that is what is needed," offered Kara.

"Never!" Green responded, looking to her acolyte. "We cannot let anger, hate, and fear overwhelm us, no matter the circumstances. This is not what we are to be. We are guardians of peace and justice, not a force to mete out vengeance."

"Evil begets evil?" Kara asked, a slight grin forming. "Your eyes were...disconcerting. But, I see they have returned to their natural color and the dark circles have dissipated."

Ro gave a few slight nods. "A side effect of entertaining the dark side."

"Dark side," asked Kara, perplexed at this new bit of information she had yet to be trained on.

Again, a few nods came from Green as she explained. "With the Core there are two sides. In the Pallean Galaxy I learned this well from a group of like-minded individuals known as Jedi. And, who I modeled the Meji after. Cosmo and my Mandalorian armor are all designs I brought back with me from that trip. The technology and know-how to construct them. So, the Light brings peace and prosperity, the Dark Side is anger and aggression; violence and murder, as it were."

"Well," Kara said. "Seems it would be deserved, but I understand why you would not want to flirt with it."

Green looked to Kara. "The Dark side is not more powerful but it is quicker, easier, and more seductive. It grants great power at the cost of one's spirit. But, too many times in the past there have been those who flirted with it, thought they could control it, but it soon consumed them so much that they became something...horrible. I will not fall to the darkness."

Kara stepped in and hugged Ro and stepped off. "Then that is my task as your apprentice. To keep my master grounded and in control by reminding her of who, and what, she is."

Ro gave a distinct nod at that as she used the Core to keep herself under control as her eyes wanted to mist up over her Acolyte's dedication. "I count on it, Kara. Now, the Euphrates is parked not too far from here, in a glade within a oasis of trees. Unless actively looking for it I doubt the attackers even know it's there. We," She had to pause to catch herself once more as she thought of her family. "Used it as a camper." The last part came out clipped so she could maintain her composure.

"What about Nira?" Kara asked. "Isn't she down here somewhere, with Sera?"

"She should be," answered Ro. "But, first, we need to see what is being done with the planetary personnel. Come, let's observe and plan."

The two of them then set off at a hurried walking pace to get as close to the facilities as possible while remaining hidden.
