OOC: BACKPOST

ON:

Commander Green waited in her office for the two officers she had called to a meeting there. Neither knew the other was coming, of course. An added bit of stress for them to contend with while being questioned regarding duty and responsibility. Her chime sounded. "Enter." She called out, leaning back casually in her chair.

Marcus Resch entered the office when prompted, seeing Number One lounged back in her chair. He went forward and stood between the two guest chiars, both angled slightly to center their view on the person behind the desk. "You wanted to see me, Commander?"

"I did, Marcus." Ro sat up and forward, casually motioning to the seats behind him. "Please, take a chair as we await the other member of this meeting. Did you bring a notebook?" She gave a sly grin.

Resch gave a grin in return. "I have a PADD if needed, Teacher." He had responded to her humor with mirth, so decided to move on to the other portion he had heard. "Who else will be here?"

Just as Ro's mouth opened to respond her chime sounded again as Marcus sat down in the chair facing her on the left. "Enter."

Major Jackson Barnes entered the XO's sanctum, seeing her ahead sitting behind her desk, with Lieutenant Resch also in attendance. He came to stand where Resch had been moments before. "Good morning, Commander. You wanted to see me?"

"I did at that," Green responded with a smile, glancing back and forth at the two men. "Have a seat if you wish. Though this meeting is official it is also casual. Help yourselves to beverages before we begin." Both men went and got a form of juice, setting the glasses on the small end tables provided for each chair. Once they seemed settled, Green then laid her forearms on the desk top and locked her fingers together, only separating them as she spoke as she was one who talked with her hands when in a casual atmosphere. "I called you both here due to some recent changes. Mister Resch, we need you back as OPS Manager, since Mister Montgomery is now our Chief Engineer. Are you willing to reclaim the chair?"

"I am, Ro," Marcus said, grinning at the news. "Thank you for the continued confidence."

Green almost said something about the almost too casual way he spoke at her, but decided to let it go. First chance all used up, she thought. "Our pleasure." Her head turned and her eyes came to rest on the marine. "Major Barnes, you have more than earned your own department. It may cause a divide with the current marine situation, but I am willing to take that chance as XO if it means we have another department running as it should be."

The more she talked the more interested Barnes was getting. "What are we looking at here? What department?"

Ro gave a casual, non-chalant grin. "Strategic Operations. Grab ten marines you know you can trust and have worked with in the past and bring them with you. Also, recruit any officers on board into strategic operations if it's for them. But, all of them are to be combat trained. Hours of holodeck time learning to be stealthy, healthy, and deadly while achieving goals. Who you vet and how is your business. Interested?"

Barnes had already been thinking on a few levels about how the position could be perfect for what he had been trying to put into action for years. A special unit and combat away team, special forces trained, and trained in as much equipment as their brains could hold. Small craft, basic EMT training, you name it. "I am in, Commander. Way in. Does this mean I can create a specialized unit, and have others in other departments as a part of strat ops when we need specialists?"

Green gave a quirky yet pleasant expression as she nodded a few times. "That's what it means, Major. Like Intel, S-O has an intricate entry system to be able to get into their CIC (Command Information Center). Once you get the department settled, then we'll work on a Delta y'all can use for missions, that sorta thing."

"May I..." Marcus had sat forward and raised a hand to interrupt them so he could speak. He seemed urgently interested in what they were talking about. "Strategic Operations needs people? If you'll have me Major, let me be the first to offer to serve in the department."

"Done," Barnes said, shaking hands with the man. He knew Resch was a brain and a thinker. Not too bad with his tactical training but there was room for improvement. "Glad to have you. I hope we get some diversity in strat ops. Engineers, science types, security soldiers. We'll have ten marines to start, all of whom have their own skill sets we can increase and sharpen."

"Count me in, Major." Resch said with a grin. "A few away missions would be nice over all this trafficking of brats and assholes. Gah! I almost resigned." He gave a chuckle, meaning that he was joking and it had not gotten quite that bad, but it sure felt like it at times.

"I remember, I was there," Jack said in return, adding his own chuckle.

Green watched them go back and forth, smiling at their easy-going approach to bonding. "Thank you, both of you. Any DH position not filled is ran by me until a suitable supervisor can be found. With all the silly shit we've been doing I had not found time until now to correct some things. And, with that said you are free to go, gentlemen." She stood up as was proper, along with her guests, coming around her desk and walking with them to the door.

Barnes stopped walking, causing them all to do so, even as he half turned to look back at Ro. "Does this position offer the chance to switch over to Starfleet?"

That caught Green off-guard, but she recovered well, only scrunching her face slightly. "It does. But, like all in Starfleet, you can switch forces whenever you wish. Why?"

"I'm considering it," Barnes stated. "Been going on a while now. We'll talk more later, Ro." He began to move, stepping out into the corridor.

"We'll do that, Jack. Take care, fellas." The door shut between them, leaving Ro in her office alone. As of late she had been wearing her Meji outfit and saber, placing her pips and combadge on the Meji uniform wear they belonged. It was a part of the agreement with the Federation Council. As Meji, they were allowed to wear their Meji 'robes' in place of a Starfleet uniform, if they chose. And, this meant all Meji, from those who could wield the Core, to those who were merely people of extraordinary character and skill who wanted to do more for the galaxy, were allowed to do this.

Going back to her desk, Commander Green sat down and went back to checking on reports.
