Cyndi after confronting Reginald on what he’d done and having her mother see to it the man was removed under guard from not only the Palace but the planet and onto a neighboring one in the system under orders not to return to Klavor.
Cyndi headed upstairs to Piper’s room. Knocking on the door “Piper can we talk. I have some good news for you.”
Piper opened her door and smiled at her mother. She had a headset on, shorts and a tank top and running shoes. “Hi, Mom!” She turned her music off. “What’s up?”
“I have good news for you, I had it out with Reginald and found out that what you thought were orders from your grandma were not. They were from him. He took it upon himself to say the Queen had ordered this. She heard him and I fighting and when she came into his office he confessed to both me and to her. Grandma never did give him any orders for you or your brother,” Cyndi said.
Piper smiled. “That’s good to know. I feel a lot better now.” She did a couple stretches. “Brent went fishing with Grandfather.”
“Dad said there were fish big enough to make a meal out of. Did you try water skiing?” Cyndi asked “I’m glad too, Reginald’s been with the family since before I was born. Have you taken your grandmother up on picking out a couple of paintings? I know it would mean the world to her if you did.”
“Paintings?” Piper raised an eyebrow. “Was I supposed to?”
She probably wasn’t listening when she was asked.
“She did ask you and your brother to pick out a couple each for your rooms. Grandma is quite an artist. She’d like you to but you don’t have to,” Cyndi replied “You might not have heard her as you were interested in the pool. And I don’t blame you. I’ve not been swimming in sometime.”
“Oh.” Piper smiled. “I would like a couple of them.” She nodded her head. “Next time we go over to visit I will have her show me.” She paused. “Have you heard about your ship yet?” She was having fun on Klavor but she wanted to know.
“I’ve received word I’m getting a new one, I’ve been cleared of all charges and from what I’ve been told the new ship is going to be Vesta Class,” Cyndi commented “And brand new.”
“I am really happy for you, Mom.” Piper said with a smile.
“You deserve it.”
“I have mixed feelings, I’ve loved spending time with you,your brother and your dad. But a brand new ship is exciting too.” Cyndi commented “I just don’t know what to do.”
“You have to go with what your gut tells you, Mom.” Piper declared. “Can you be happy here?” Piper knew the answer but she wanted her mom to figure it out. Grandmother isn’t ready to step down so what would you do. You don’t like being idle and your crew depends on you.”
Cyndi walked to the window in her daughter’s room and looked out at the Palace. “Life in the Palace has never been what I wanted. I know the day will come when I’ll have to.. I’m a scientist and a Star Fleet Commodore.” she turned to look at her daughter. “I didn’t get this far sitting on my backside being waited on. I guess I’ll wait and see the new ship.”
Piper smiled at her. “You know you will go back on your ship.” She shook her head. “This place can only handle one queen at a time.”
“And that’s my mum. I’m not ready to live here full time. Why don’t we go shopping or get some ice cream?” Cyndi suggested “We can even do both if you want.
“Shopping.” Piper said with a smile. “You know I love to shop!”
“Then let’s go, we can take the car if you like and put the top down,” Cyndi suggested “How soon can you be ready?”
Piper pulled her earbuds out. “Let me put these on my dresser and I am ready.”
“Let’s go,” Cyndi said, pulling out the car keys “First stop the mall. One of us should teach you to drive.”
Piper’s eyes lit up. “That would be so cool “ she smiled. “We need to talk to Dad when we get back!”
“We will,” Cyndi assured her. “There’s even a motor-cycle in the garage your grandpa gave me when I was your age, only he never let me ride it alone. It’s not been used in a number of years. I was thinking of giving you my car one day and Brent the motor-cycle. We’ll need to talk to your dad about that too,”
“Brent would love that!” Piper nodded. She knew he would be excited to hear it.
“Most boys and men would,” Cyndi agreed “Shall we go shopping? I think I’m going to want your input for decorations for my new ready room and your dad’s and my quarters on the new ship.”
“Me?” Piper smiled. “I don’t know, Dad might want some say in that.”
“Tell you what, you help me with my ready room and your dad can help with our quarters,” Cyndi suggested “Then you can pick out things for your new quarters,”
“Deal.” Piper said with a smile. “I want my room to reflect on me.”
“And it will, it will be your space,” Cyndi assured her as she placed her arm on her daughter’s shoulder “So are we ready to go?”
“Yes.” Piper nodded. “As soon as you are.”
“Then let’s go,” Cyndi said.
Piper headed towards the car, she was ready to buy a lot of stuff. They would be leaving here soon and she didn’t want to leave empty handed.
