Post Number 4 Arboretum Prep

Location: Shuttle Bay and Cargo Bay
Timeline: Just after Mission Briefing

Leaving the briefing room Grainger nodded at Smithers and said that he was joining Jennifer at the Runabout.

Grainger soon arrived at the Shuttle Bay and entered the Runabout Marquette. Jennifer was tending to the plants in the Runabout, turned around and said, Uncle Grainger I was wondering when you guys were coming back. She looked past him where's Dad.

Grainger replied, he is still on the bridge. Probably doing scans for our new mission to the planet Solaria. Jennifer was surprised. A new planet already. Grainger sighed. No problem for me this planet was rough enough.

Looking at the plants she had them split up into two sections. One Tropical and one Deciduous. Grainger, I have the plants separated and ready to beam over to the Cargo Bay. Once my plans are approved then they can move to their new home in the Arboretum.

Grainger looked over the plants and said everything looked good. He then contacted the Cargo Bay. Lt Jg Grainger to Cargo Bay. They answered right away. Go ahead Grainger. Grainger continued, I'm currently on the Runabout Marquette in the shuttle Bay. I have plants, dirt, and related items that I need to have beamed from here to the Cargo Bay. Then once the Commodore approves of Jennifer Smither's plans the plants can be beamed to the Arboretum. Got all of that. Cargo Bay replied sure do. When do you want your cargo beamed to the Cargo Bay.

Grainger replied to the Cargo Bay. In a few minutes. Jennifer is going to stay in the Runabout and I'm going to join you in the Cargo Bay. Grainger Out.

Jennifer looked up. Uncle Grainger please make sure that the plants will be Ok in the Cargo Bay. Grainger smiled. No problem. Soon they will be in their new home.

Grainger smiled as he got to see another part of the ship. The Cargo Bay and its transporter looked up to the task. He then waved at the Cargo Bay Chief. The Cargo Bay Chief spoke up. Holding out a hand he said nice to meet you Grainger. Grainger shook his hand.

The Chief then asked. So, what are we beaming over from the Runabout. Grainger replied, they are plants from two areas on Earth. The plants include ones from California and Michigan. Jennifer is going to arrange them in two areas on the Arboretum. We also want to have two small greenhouses created for them along with benches.

The Chief then said you are in the right place for materials and there is some room to assemble what you need. Once everything is ready then we can beam it all over to the Arboretum. I can help you out if you want.

Grainger had a big grin on his face and said that would be great as long as it doesn't interfere with your duties. The Chief replied no problem, Sir.

Grainger walked over and joined the Cargo Bay Chief at the Transporter. He pointed to an area near the transporter that was the right size. The Chief brought up the Runabout on his screen. Then he pointed at its cargo area. He looked at Grainger is that all of your cargo.

Grainger replied yes that's it. He noted that Jennifer was nearby. He contacted her. Grainger to Jennifer Smithers. She replied Grainger are you Ok on your end. All set here. Jennifer, could you move to the Runabouts Cockpit, and we will beam everything down here once you are clear. She responded Ok Grainger. Jennifer out.

Tapping the comm badge again. Grainger to Communications. They responded Communications here. Grainger continued please inform the Commodore that we are beaming over Jennifer Smithers plants and cargo from the Runabouts Cargo Bay to the Ships Main Cargo Bay shortly. Also let her know that Jennifers plans for the plants in the arboretum will be sent to her shortly. Communications responded message received Communications out.

Looking at the Chief Grainger said Ok let's beam them over. The Chief rechecked the coordinates and confirmed where they were going to be beamed to. Lightly touched the transporter panel and a few strokes later you could hear the familiar whine and could see the plants in their temporary spot in the Cargo Bay.

Jennifer tapped her comm badge. Jennifer to Grainger. Grainger replied yes Jennifer, they made it safely. Sounds good I will join you shortly. Jennifer Smithers out.

Jennifer picked up her PADD and headed down to the Cargo Bay. She saw Grainger and the Cargo Bay Chief looking over her plants. She smiled and said hello to the Chief. He nodded and said nice to meet you.

Jennifer looked over the plants and then the plan for them on her PADD. Then she showed the plans to Grainger. Grainger looked them over and showed them to the Chief.

Grainger then spoke up. Chief according to her plans we will have two locations across from each other about midway into the Arboretum. She wants a greenhouse in each location. The top of each greenhouse will control both the water and type of light needed for each area. Inside each Greenhouse the plants and trees will be on one side and a bench on the other. Also need to make sure that any water runoff is contained and disposed of at the Arboretum Walls. On the California side there will be a computer and monitor showing different beaches and on the Michigan side Jennifer will make a miniature waterfall and add to it some of my rock and mineral samples that are also from Michigan.

The Chief thought about for a moment. Yes, Grainger that should work nicely. Looks like each small greenhouse runs about 12 ft long and 8 ft across. They both start at the main trail. Ok Miss Smithers as far as I can tell what you have planned is doable. Please let me know when Grainger and I can start making the Greenhouses and Benches.

Both Grainger and Jennifer headed to their quarters. Once there Jennifer sent the Arboretum plans to the Commodore.
