Christina slowly started to awaken, last she remembered she was aboard the station in pain and picturing her own death without the man she loved at her side. Opening her eyes she was happy to see David nearby. “Hey” she smiled. “I thought I was going to find myself in heaven, it looks like I am!” She held out her hand. “I thought I was going to die and all I could think of was losing you.”
Taking her hand, Hurd said, smiling, "Baby, you will never loose me". Pondering his next words carefully, he said, "The man who hurt you is dead, I killed him personal combat, so you will never have to worry about him again".
Christina nodded. “It wasn’t ... Kordell, there was something controlling him.” She frowned as she recalled. “He just referred to whatever it was as ... it.” She shook her head. “Are the children alright?! They were with me!”
Gripping her hand a little tightly, Hurd said, "They are fine hun, I promise".
She breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank heavens. Poor Kal he must have been terrified. Last I remember he was holding my hand calling Amethyst for help.” She smiled. “When I have children of my own I’d be so proud to have a child as brave as Kal.”
His smile grew big and his face a shade redder as he said, "Well Mom, in 9 months we will find out".
Christina gave Hurd a surprised look. “What ... did you just say?! “I thought we ...” She paused thinking back to their night together. “Wait I ... I didn’t take my hypo.” She gave him an apologetic look. “David I’m sorry. I should have been more careful. I know you said you wanted children but we’ve only just started dating. I wanted to be married and settled before I had a family.”
"Is this a problem", Hurd asked gently, folding his brow slightly.
“No! Good heavens No” Chrissy smiled warmly. “I’ve always wanted to have children.” She looked at him curiously. “You’re okay with it too? Really okay?”
His smile relaxed a bit as he replied. "Ok with it?" "Hun, I am overjoyed with it. The word ok can't even describe it".
Christina's smile practically shone, moving to sit up a little from her lying down position made her wince, more out of discomfort than actual pain. Kristian had made sure to keep her comfortable. "Would you mind" she motioned to a pillow.
Nodding, Hurd grabbed the pillow and tucked it under her. Beaming he asked, "So this has been one heck of a day hasn't it?"
“It has been a whirlwind of a day!” Chrissy smiled. “I just ... wish it hadn’t included me being stabbed. Seriously though ... I don’t want to be a liability to you David.”
"You are far, far from a liability to me", he replied, squeezing her hand. "You are my world, my air, my life".
Chrissy held onto David’s hand, feeling reassured by his presence.
