Once everyone left Cyndi turned to her second officer "I want to know what the outburst was all about in the briefing earlier? That was unprofessional and uncalled for major,"

"Ma'am, could you be specific as to what you mean?", Hurd said in a polite tone.

"When I wanted you to go to the planet undercover and see what you could dig up, your response was your not a tourist. You a short time later made a statement telling us all not to tell you how to run your men. You then stormed out. I gave up on wanting someone to go undercover as I did comment I would and was promptly reminded my place is aboard ship. Currently there is an away team heading down. Then we're leaving orbit to head to the Iwo JIma."

Standing ro attention, Hurd replied, "You are right Ma'am, those words and my actions were completely uncalled for, a stain on my personal honor, and a stain on the honor of the Starfleet Marines." Pausing he added, "I offer my apologies and stand ready to accept any punishment you deem necessary, yo to and including diismfrom the Marines, Courts Martial, and imprisonment .

Cyndi shook her head, "I'm not going to do anything. Consider this a warning. Your the second officer and you set an example. What would you do if this had been one of your marines? I do accept your apology. I'm not going to inform General Long and I'm not putting a notation in your file. But this cannot happen again."

"You have my word it won't', Hurd replied.

"That's all I need to hear," Cyndi replied "Officially this meeting never happened. Now on to the Iwo Jima. Have you decided on your away team?"

"I'm going to take Saunders, a Medical Officer, a Damage control Officer, a few of my men, and my wife Ma'am".

"Your wife? Major she's pregnant and I won't permit it," Cyndi said "Why would you risk the life of your unborn child?"

"Ma'am, with respect, she will be protected as will my baby", Hurd replied. " But if those are your orders, then I will abide by them".

"Those are my orders, we don't know what lies on that ship. I won't risk a civilian let alone a pregnant one. I'd also like you to consider taking your XO and having Rivers and a couple of her pilots do a fly by to make sure there are no surprises waiting for us out there and on the ship. Are you planning on beaming over or taking a shuttle?" Cyndi asked

"Understood", Hurd said. Pausing he continued, "I do not recommend beaming at all, what I'm going to do is take a shuttle as close as possible, then eva and gain entry either through a shuttle bay, airlock, or one of those Hull breaches".

"I do hope you'll take someone else with you when you board that ship. Your fighter pilots can pilot a shuttle or I can assign you a fleet officer to pilot a shuttle. How many shuttles would you need? Tell me and I'll make it happen," Cyndi said

"Preferably at least 4 Workbees, 1 Runabout, and 6 Type 9's", Hurd replied calmly".
