Mission: Planet Savai
Location: Captain’s Ready Room
Timeline: Current

Alister walked onto the bridge of the Amandora having just come aboard from the runabout Rhine that had brought him out to the ship. He glanced around the ship’s bridge taking before making his way to the Captain’s Ready Room and pressing the chime for entry.

"Come in," Cyndi called ending the call with her mother

“Lieutenant Alister McKeon, reporting for duty,” he said coming to attention briefly before placing the PADD containing his orders into the desk.

"Please have a seat lieutenant and relax," Cyndi said picking up the PADD and reading is transfer orders. "Headquarters finally listened to me, I've needed an Intelligence Officer for sometime."

Alister sat down in the offered chair, “It was mentioned you had been needing a CIO for sometime, I’ve brought enough additional personal to bring the department to full strength and I’ve been promised a meeting with another starship which should have some additional equipment and personal effects for the people I’ve got with me. Not a ton of extra space on a runabout.”

"No, that is true, runabouts are not very big," Cyndi commented "How many personal did you bring and when are we due to meet up with the other ship? I'll have quarters readied for them."

“The ship is still up in air looks like it’s going to be the USS Lee but that’s not a hundred percent yet and maybe a couple of days if everything goes right which it more then likely won’t. As for personal I brought a single Field team of six counting myself, I’ve got assistant a LTJG, one warrant officer, a pair of chiefs, and a petty officer.” Alister responded, “Looks like you never had a proper field team onboard most of the equipment is specialized gear for the team. Are we expecting to need a field team soon?”

"Highly possible, my marine commander has found what he believes to be a missing ship, the Iwo Jima. I've left a away team on a planet and we're en route to the Iwo Jima's last known location," Cyndi said

“I will see if I can’t expedite the ship, worst comes to worst I might be able to arrange a shipment of gear we could use,” Alister said with a slight frown as he tried to recall the rough position of the Amandora. “It won’t be Federation issue but usable if the Lee is unable to make it. We’re a long way away from where the Iwo Jima was lost at. I assume we’re to destroy the ship and see who boarded her or moved her to her current location? We’ll have to see if we need to change any codes as well a ship missing that long will have her computers cracked open and secrets spilled all over the place.”

"What I do know is she was reported lost with all hands and has been reported with several hull breaches. I carry a fighter squadron and it's my plan to send one or two fighters out once we arrive at the Iwo Jima and have them scout it before anyone boards it. If the computers have been compromised it would be like here should anything happen to me. I hold the command codes so they'd be changed and I can only assume that is the same with that ship," Cyndi commented "According to the major the ship is a Sovereign Class."

“I was thinking of communications codes, those could be even more dangerous if someone assumes they where never broken. Broken codes tend to make us change an entire cypher system, a code might have a slight modification otherwise without the hassle of a full code rework if we view the code has never haven been broken.” Alister scratched his chin, “I will place my people at your service I will review and see who the best code slicer I have to give everything a look over and see if anything can be sniffed from her computers. Not sure a field team is going to be much help on a boarding operation but anything we can do we’ll pitch in.”

"I hadn't given communication codes a thought," Cyndi admitted "I plan to call a mission briefing once we arrive and I'll have you and your communication slicer attend the briefing. Until then see what you can find out."

Alister chuckled slightly, “I’ll be happy to attend the briefing I don’t recommend the code slicer does. They tend to fall under one of two categories either completely lost in social situations or leaving you wondering how they’re not locked up on a penal colony somewhere. As for communication codes most people don’t give them a thought but breaking an enemy’s code has changed the course of wars. You can look Earth’s Second World War to the breaking of the Enigma machine by the British or the decryption of the Japanese Navy code that allowed the US Navy to smash their carriers at the Battle of Midway.”

"You are right there, command codes are the most sought after no one gives communication codes a second thought, me included," Cyndi commented "How many people the major is planning on taking once we arrive at the ship is up to him. He and I are working on that currently."

“Understand, I’ll make a request to command to see if the Lee can’t be expedited out to meet us. If they’re unable to make it in time I’ll arrange something else.”

"Or I can divert long enough to meet up with her," Cyndi offered.

“I’ll keep that in mind,” Alister said with a nod of his head, “Is there anything else I need to be aware of?”

"Not that I can think of, take the rest of the day to get used to the ship and get your department organized and let me know if I need to diver to meet the Lee," Cyndi said handing him a PADD "This is your quarter assignment and your people you brought with you. Their quarter assignments are there as well. Do you have any questions for me before we break up this meeting. If not your free to go."

"No ma'am," Alister said taking the PADD back and looking at it, "I'll keep you update on if we need to meet the Lee or another starship." He stood up from the chair, "I'll leave you to the rest of your day, and start getting settled in."
