A call had came in as James was finishing up some wide range sensor scans of the Iwo Jima as per the Commodore's orders; as well as sending out a probe to scan the side of the Ship that the sensor sweep might have missed. It was Lieutenant Long informing him that Lieutenant Herculoid was back from the away mission. Dr. Long had also informed him that Tara had been hurt and was resting in her quarters for the rest of the day.
James was a little concerned by what the Doctor had told him, and unlike the CSO on the Dunkirk, who didn't seem to care about anyone else but himself, James wasn't like that. He told himself that he wasn't going to be like his previous boss; he wasn't made that way.
James was concerned about all those in his Science Department, but especially his Department Heads. Without them his job would be much harder. Even though he knew Tara needed her rest, he needed to see for himself that she was alright. So James decided to drop by her quarters to see how she really was and if she needed anything.
[Tara's Quarters]
When James reached Tara's home he palmed the door chime and waited for a response. If she didn't come to the door after a few minutes then he would return later to check on her.
Since returning to her quarters Tara had taken a hot shower and dressed in a soft peach colored dress. She's been answering messages from home when her door chime rang. Getting to her feet she headed for the door and palmed the sensor, seeing her boss Tara stepped back to let him in "What do I owe this visit to?" Tara asked
"I'm sorry to disturb you, but I wanted to see how you were doing. I heard you had a bit of a mishap on Savai" James stated "I won't stay long."
"Your not bothering me," Tara said "Please have a seat and can I get you anything? As for a mishap, I got hit by a piece of crystal shard,"
As James sat down "No, I"m fine but thank you. Although that shard sounds painful. I'm just glad that your alright. Is there anything that you need"he asked.
Tara resumed her seat "I'm sore, that's to be expected. I don't see why Doctor Long thinks I need light duty. There is no reason I can't return to work. There is a ton of research, data and the like that need to be worked on from that planet but Kristian thinks I need to be babied."
James smiled and was rather impressed by her work ethic "You know the work will still be there tomorrow or the next day. Besides Heather could always start it for you; she's more than capable" he replied "Which brings me to the second reason I stopped by. I've been ordered to assist with the body extraction of the Iwo Jima, unless the Major has any objections. So I'll be off ship for awhile."
"We got a good look at the Iwo Jima when Kristian dropped the fighter out of warp. The ship is heavily damaged. We didn't scan it per orders from the major," Tara said getting up and walking to her desk and returned with her field kit, and several other vials, placed them on the coffee table and resumed her seat along with her tri-coder "Tell Heather to be careful what she wishes for," Tara giggled "That's the data, samples, work and such from the planet including some of the crystal shards that decided to poke me. I've not switched the tri-coder into Federation Standard, it's in my native language but will only take seconds to switch it."
James was looking at the vials and such "The only positive about the hull breeches is if enough of the space's atmosphere made it into the ship then the body degradation would be at a minimum which should make things much easier. If you want I can swing by Heather's Lab and she can at least start the work on them until your back on your feet; I know she won't mind the work" he replied.
"Of course, there's more than enough to go over," Tara said picking up her tri-coder and after tapping a few commands into it set it back on the table. "The tri-coder is now in Federation Standard."
"That was quick. I'll drop these off to Heather so she can get started" James said as he gathered all of the samples as well as the tri-corder "I should be going, I have some data of my own to go over and you need your rest. If you need anything please don't hesitate to ask."
"It takes only seconds to switch the language, there are only three aboard who can read the Amazon Language, myself, Kristian Long and Alesha Rivers. Believe me James I'm fine, I've had worse scrapes than that shard," Tara said "Kristian is just being a doctor."
"Why do I get the feeling that Kristian being a 'doctor' is what you need right now" James said with a chuckle "Anyway feel better soon" and with that remark James made his way to the door and was on his way to the Bio Lab.
