James had just returned from meeting with the Commodore, to his office and needed to talk with Lieutenant Kees.

Tapping his Comm "Lieutenant Kees please report to the CSO's Office right away" James ordered. Now he would wait for Kees and do the unpleasant part of his job.

This was the moment Ellie had been dreading. “On my way Sir” Setting out from her quarters she was soon at the CSO’s office door. Pressing the chime she waited for permission to enter.

James was going over Tara's report one more time when the door chime sounded. He drew a deep breath then "Come in."

Walking inside Ellie offered an unhappy but professional nod. “Reporting as ordered Sir. I’m ready to accept whatever punishment you see fit for my actions.”

Without saying a word James got up from his desk and walked to the door then flipped a switch to keep the door in the open position just to keep their meeting above board.

After returning to his desk James started " Lieutenant at least you realized that you made an error in judgement. The first part of this meeting, I talk and you listen" James instructed " What you and Lieutenant Yova did is against at least a half dozen of Starfleet Regulations, to say the least. As a Lieutenant I expect more from you than that. After having a meeting with the Commodore and Lt. Herculoid we have come to a decision."

"Firstly you have lost the Chair position of your department effective immediately. After your shifts are over for the day you will spend the next two hours cleaning all of the glassware in the Main Lab on Deck 5 as well as all the microscopes and stereoscopes until completed. Also your Bridge privileges have been suspended for the next six months" James instructed " Any questions so far?"

Ellie shook her head well and truly disappointed in herself. “No questions Sir.”

"Just so you realize the gravity of this situation, Lieutenant Herculoid and I were in agreement that such actions warranted a demotion in rank. However Commodore Song said that wasn't prudent at this time. However, and let be very clear on this point, if such behavior should occur again a demotion in rank will happen. Also the Commodore has made a notation in your service record" James concluded.

"My suggestion to you going forward is to do your work and stay out of trouble Lieutenant. Put this incident behind you but learn from it" James instructed.

"Do have anything to say on your own behalf" James asked.

Ellie paused. “I should have been more responsible Sir, I promise you that I will never make such a mistake again. I let myself get carried away and I shouldn’t have.”

James was pleased to hear Ellie say that "Admitting your mistake is a step in the right direction" he replied "Starting tomorrow you can go back to work, however for the time being I'd like you access your data and work out of the Main Lab at the Anthropologists Station. When your shift is over then you can start on your extra duty tasks.

Then James added with a smile "On a personal note I hope you get your act together and become the Officer that you were meant to be Lieutenant Kees. Your dismissed."

Ellie nodded. “Thank you Sir” with that she rose from her seat and headed on her way.
