Mission: Repairs, Upgrades And Shore Leave
Location: Security
Timeline: Current

As the Turbolift let him off near there, he walked the last few steeps to the Brig. Looking at the two Security Officers stationed outside, Hurd upolstered his .45, and two knife's and gave them to the guards, keeping his word he would be unarmed.

Tapping his Combage, Major Hurd said, "Hurd to Liza, I am at the brig, and at your request I am not armed in anyway, so let's meet, shall we?" Hurd closed the channel and waited for her arrival thinking, "Man, these Security People really are top notch".

The desk watchman, Ensign David Washburn, looked up at the Major, and seeing him relinquish his weapons, as per the directives on his monitor. He stood and gave the marine a nod and went to Kahn's office, which was locked open, and knocked on the jam before looking in. "Major Hurd is here, Lieutenant."

"I have ears, Washburn," she gave a crooked grin as she stood. "I was checking a case file from a colony nearby. They've had people trying to extort them. The colony sheriff is a friend of mine." All that was said as she rounded her desk and ushered Washburn aside, waving him to go back to the desk. "Major, please join me." Liza sidestepped her own doorway after stepping outside of it, holding her hand up to invite him within. A pleasant expression was on her face along with a grin.

Nodding, Hurd went inside and sat down. His head already prepared him for what was about to happen.

Instead of rounding her desk again Liza went to the front side of the desk facing the other guest chair. This gave professional, adequate spacing. As she leaned her bum on the edge and clasped her hands in her lap she looked to Hurd. "David, I know your penchant for outbursts and instant action. If you want this person prosecuted then you cannot abuse them physically. After that all other considerations would be lost in a court. Please, Major Hurd," she went back to rank and name so as to not offend for addressing him common at the beginning. And, it showed in her visage, she was being serious while trying to maintain a light air. "Tell me you won't ruin our one chance to put this person away. All I ask."

Clenching his jaw, David thought for a second. On the one hand, he wanted to strangle the person responsible for all this carnage, damage, and death, especially the death's of his two Marines. On the other hand, what Liza was saying was making perfect sense. The thoughts weighed heavy on his mind for a few moment's before he finally spoke. "You have my word I won't", he said.

Liza sat in the guest chair and turned her body to face him. "Computer, close the door and lock it." The office door slid shut and the panel went from green to red. "Computer, Code 47 in this room." The computer informed her it was done. "There, now we can speak plainly, with no record of any kind ever being taken of this meeting. Work with me, David. Your people, my people. You and I seem to be on the same page when it comes to Section31. In all the years Kahn has been around we have seen many of their agents, and far too many of their atrocities in the name of securing the survival of the Federation." Her eyes had softened a bit, a sadness in the depths with a few memories that briefly flashed in her mind.

"Get your shit together, man." Kahn gave a grin and a slightly cynical chuckle. "Stop going off half-berserker into every meeting and situation. It will affect your people, eventually. They keep seeing you losing it over petty shit then their faith will start to waiver. Then morale crashes. Next thing you know your lads are in my brig all too often for fighting and misconduct. And on, and on, and on. Lead by example, Major."

Liza realized she had prattled on so she stood up sheepishly and straightened her tunic with the Picard maneuver. "Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I want you and I to work closer together. Start getting your marines in on Security duties, and if they want to learn, also the technical side of what we do. The offer is there." She gave a smile. "Okay, yeah, let's go see this guy..." She went to walk around the guest chair towards the office door, looking over at him as she rounded the chair.

Nodding his head, Hurd smiled, something rare for him. He made a subtle motion for her to hold for a few minutes, then spoke. "You know, I never thought I'd be saying these next two thing's, but you are exactly right, and, for the things you mentioned regarding my attitude, I am very wrong". Continuing, he said, " I'll take what you said about learning and cross training under advisement, and same goes my way as well, but just to let you know, I train my Men and Women hard, some would say brutal, but I am a firm believer that the more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in combat"

Kahn had stopped when he had motioned, looking at him like any friend would. "True. But, the proper amount of proper downtime keeps morale at a premium, and should never be disregarded. And by downtime, I mean not being a soldier, just a person. I've seen my share of wars and it is always ugly so, if anyone can empathize with your point of view, it's me, David. Sifu Bruce Lee says to 'be like the nature of water', so that's how I live my life. Even Klingons have that same belief and they are probably the best warriors in this galaxy, so far." She gave a smile. "Sorry, motormouth again."

Laughing a bit, Hurd said, "Its plenty ok, believe me, Marines run their mouths all the time". So, shall we go find the leader of this bullshit and get to the bottom of it?"

"Abso-friggin-lutely," said Liza, as casual as could be. "By the way, I was waiting for you to notice. I'll send my officers away and code 47 the brig area. Absolutely no record whatsoever so we can be as...persuasive as we need to be." She gave an evil grin and headed for the door, dropping the code 47 in the office before stepping out. "Clear the holding area, people. The interview is classified to all except those with authorization. Take a day, folks, I'll man Security this evening." Her people gave nods and acknowledgements as they departed, no hard feelings. It wasn't called 'security' for nothing.

Once they departed Kahn glanced upward. "Computer, lockout Security, my authorization. Code 47 for the holding area and cells." The computer acknowledged and enacted her directives. She crossed her arms over her chest and stood to Hurd's left, her stance showing her own, personal swagger as she leaned in close to the Major. "Okay, hot shot, which one?"

When Hurd gave the signal Liza immediately backed his play, what with code 47 enacted, The interrogation went as planned.
