Post Number 16 I want Answers

Posted on Thu Oct 21st, 2021 @ 10:07pm by Commodore Cyndi Song & Major David Hurd Senior & Chief Warrant Officer Niraasha "Nira" Whisperwind

Mission: Repairs, Upgrades And Shore Leave
Location: Ready Room
Timeline: Right After Hurd and Kahn's JP

ON:

Cyndi paced her office and to say she was not happy was an understatement. The ship in disarray, section 31 operatives managed to get onto the ship somehow UN-noticed. Guards had been assigned to the air locks and the only personal permitted would have been base repair teams. Yet somehow someone dropped the ball. Tapping her com-badge "Major Hurd, Lieutenant Kahn report to my ready room."

Liza was out on the Bridge checking on tactical and Security matters. The summons was broadcast. "Right away, Commodore." Within moments she entered the CO's ready room and came to a stop a meter from Song. "You wanted to see me, Sir?"

Hurd had followed Liza in. He already knew what was coming, but he still did not look forward to it. Saluting, he said, "You wanted to see me Ma'am?"

Cyndi nodded "I wanted to see both of you and now that this section 31 is being cleaned up and from what I understand the operatives are in the brig. I want to know how in the hell they got on my ship? I have two dead marines, several injured security officers as well as other officers who have been injured. There were guards at the air locks and yet somehow they got onto my ship! Either of you have an answer!" Cyndi fumed.

"I am as clueless as you are, Commodore. I have been checking the security logs and all my people were doing their jobs the way they should be. Nothing amiss. None of my people knew about anything until it began to happen. However, that does not take away from the fact that it is my purview as Chief of Security to prevent such happenings, therefore it falls on my shoulders." Everyone aboard had reacted badly, completely unprepared. But, that did not take away from her own responsibility. And, she would not let David take another hit since his marines only reacted as soldiers should. "I am investigating the how and why, Commodore."

"Could they have beamed aboard or could they have been here the entire time? Check transporter logs and see if it shows any unauthorized transporting," Cyndi said "Major what have you found out from interrogating the leader?"

"Well first off", Hurd said. " Lieutenant Khan should not, nor does she bear any responsibility for any of this*. He looked at both and said, "As 2nd Officer and Marine CO, it was my responsibility to see the ship was safe, and I failed in both accounts, so I accept full, and total responsibility for all this".

"With the way they were able to get on my ship is cause for alarm. It's been a very very long time since I had any dealings with Section 31 and would be just as glad not to deal with them again. Right now major your both being held responsible for this. We were lucky they didn't make it to the bridge. I had that locked before I left it,' Cyndi remarked

Kahn gave nods at several points. "Wouldn't have mattered. Starships aren't like back in Kirk's day. You can't just flip a few switches and gain control. However, that being said," continued Liza. "All of us reacted poorly, and bravely, at the same time. Complacency has almost cost us dearly, several times. On the crew level those who perished need to be honored on the reader boards. Major Hurd should be commended, as well."

Smiling at both, he continued, "I would like to formally nominate Lieutenant Kahn for the Christopher Pike Medal of Valor for her tenacity, fighting spirit, going above and beyond the call of duty disregarding her in life in rescuing the pinned down, comforting the dying, and the above and beyond of retrieving the dead at great personal risk under massive enemy fire. "

Cyndi nodded "I'll take it under advisement major, she has earned it.

Kahn was taken aback by what Hurd had said. She had done her duty as he had. But, that was her humble nature speaking even as she appreciated his evaluation of her as a fellow officer.

"I'll contact General Long and bring her up to speed and make the recommendation to her," Cyndi said "Damage reports have come in and while I expected worse it's not that bad. A few days and we'll be back up to normal. I'm going to put in for all the crew as everyone from the CMO right down to the fighter wing stood their ground and prevented what could have been far worse."

"As for the second part of your answer, I can go into more detail if you like". But it boils down to both extremely advanced personal sensor dampening fields and personal cloaking devices".

"I would like more detail major," Cyndi said "Did they come aboard from a ship or from the base?"

"From everything I have gathered from Marine Intel, they came aboard from the base", he said, slight consternation in his voice. "As for how they got aboard the base in the first place, that's still unknown, but trust me its being investigated at all levels, and whoever was responsible for letting them breech base security will be dealt with, swiftly and harshly".

"That major is up to the base commander, I'll relay what you've told me to him and let them take over. My concern is how they got on my ship," Cyndi said "They'll be turned over to base security and possibly a penal colony."

It was Kahn's turn to lash out. "You're a Commodore. You need to make sure the base commander knows that his breach almost cost us in a taken starship. That's no light matter, Skipper. Starfleet command will be looking for who to blame, and where to start that blame. We all need to dot our I's and cross our T's for a few weeks." She then looked at Hurd. "David, again, my sincere apologies for misunderstanding what you had said and trying to blame you. We both need to work on our impulsiveness. And, thank you for what you have said, though the medal of valor is a bit steep." She gave a kid-like smile and beamed. "A third pip would suffice." Liza giggled. "Just kidding."

"I'll handle it lieutenant," Cyndi said "Trust me I will be investigating and will be finding out what happened. And why they weren't spotted before they got here. As for commendations you've both earned it."

"Thank you, Commodore but, I think I can speak for both of us when I say that we were only doing as we were trained to do." When Song wasn't looking Kahn winked at Hurd. "We will get to the bottom of this, Commodore. You have my word," stressed Liza.

"As will I," Cyndi said firmly "Section 31 has it's place but invading a ship or star base is not one of them."

Kahn gave her an evil grin. "Let me know my limits, Commodore, and I'll booby-trap this entire ship." She gave a shy smile.

"Or I order Lieutenant Rivers out in her personal fighter, have her cloak it and see if she picks up a Section 31 ship and scares it away," Cyndi commented

Hurd nodded and said, "I have no objection to either option", he said. " The Marine Spaces already are".

"Nor do I, I hesitate to let the ship be booby-trapped as someone might stumble onto one and that would be dangerous. Major how are the anger management sessions going with the counselor?" Cyndi asked "As for both options I'll give them both some thought. My main concern is how they got onto my ship and Major Hurd's anger management sessions are going."

Kahn was going to say something then decided against it. What it was had no bearing on the Commodore's current query to Hurd. But, she had to admit it to herself, she too was interested to see if he had started the sessions. Her main reason for her interest was professional, followed by personal as she was hoping they would become friends. To work better together.

As those thoughts passed through Kahn's mind a swirling circle of amber sparks suddenly appeared to her and Hurd's left, which would put it to the Commodore's right. Beyond the portal of Eldritch Magick could be seen a large open suite full of various species, all wearing finery and holding beverages. Both Nira and Bjorgo stepped through the portal and into the Ready Room.

Tore looked different, his muscular athletic build now far more cut and he wore an all leather outfit. The pants were reinforced, the boots buckled up on the outside of the leggings, and his torso was covered in a leather, sleeveless cuirass (Thor's outfit in Ragnarok). He held a large stein, as did Nira, both of them covered in a variety of party paraphernalia. Nira had streams of paper and decoration hanging from her ears and hair, while Tore was covered in strange symbols applied with body paint. Both were smiling and giggling and as they stepped through Tore was the first to speak. "Dadnabbit, Nira! I said cargo hold, not CO's office!"

Nira gave him a raspberry as she stuck her tongue out at him. MY portal, my places." Nira looked at Cyndi. "Sorry, Commie-dore, I did not expect..." She didn't finish the sentence, just motioned at the three original occupants. She looked both sheepish and embarrassed.

"Apologies, Commodore," added Tore. "We're all jacked up. Victory in the arena and then a party to celebrate. The Grand Master is quite the host."

"I told so," said Nira to Bjorgo.

"yeah, yeah. Hush." They both chuckled then went back to trying to straighten up and look serious while still in the room. Both decided to sip from their respective beverages to occupy their mouths with something other than talking. That was getting them in deeper.

Cyndi looked at Nira and the CMO carefully for a few minutes "Welcome back, you two missed all the fun. Ship was invaded by Section 31, I'm trying to get answers out of Major Hurd as to how they got onto my ship. Doctor you should be very proud of Doctor Long, she's stepped up and took charge of sick bay."

"I never doubted, Cyndi." Tore gave a friendly grin. "Long is a dedicated MD, like myself..."

Nira butted in, her eyes very serious as she looked to Song. "Just say words, I kill. I am not weak Federation."

"No Nira your not weak, but these people need to be held accountable for what they've done and by killing them, that won't be a good thing," Cyndi said "I plan to recommend they be sent to a penal colony for the rest of their lives. They will suffer as those places are not easy to survive on and nearly impossible to escape from."

The Matriarch had spoken, so Nira waved her hand casually and her portal closed. "We are return, Commie-dore." Tore covered his mouth and looked away so as not to snicker, nor show his mischievous grin. His eyes were two pools of mirth. The way she spoke always made him grin, even when her serious actions seemed 'cute' when backed by what Nira looked like. "I ple..." Nira began, cut off by the Doctor.

"Aht!" He popped that out from the chest. Once he had effectively blocked Nira's next words. "Nira, pledge nothing, except your aid as an ally."

"Okie-dokie," said Nira with a nod. "Ally, envoy, you pick your word. I am here to serve Matriarch Cyndi."

"Bloody hell," mumbled Tore, taking another swig from his stein before a flabbergasted sigh came out. "She feckin went and said it anyway, just in a different way." He looked over at Hurd, and having never been inebriated before, Bjorgo smiled, his previous track of thought now abandoned. "Hiya, David. Drink?" He held his stein out. "We really need to get together and kill some shit."

"I'm going to talk to Starfleet Command and go from there," Cyndi said "Your dismissed," Cyndi watched as everyone filed out of her office.
