Tapping her com-badge "Lieutenant Yova please report to my ready room. I have some things to discuss with you." Cyndi called.

Odac Yova quickly completed his duties and hastened to the ready room.

" You wished to see me Commodore?" Yova said as he tapped the chime and entered.

"I did lieutenant, please have a seat and can I offer you something to drink?" Cyndi asked

" Cold ice tea. Something I found delicious on Earth."

Cyndi went to the replicator and made the request, picking it up she walked over and handed it to him and then took a seat at her desk "I suppose your wondering why I've called you in here. How would you like to be chief engineer?"

" I would like that very much Commodore. " Yova replied.

"I was hoping you'd say that, you've more than earned it. You've kept the ship running in top form. It also comes with a promotion to lieutenant," Cyndi said handing him the box with the gold pip in it.

" Full Lieutenant? I am speechless Commodore. A year ago I was spiraling out of control. I came here as assistant chief met Ellie and now I am to be Chief. If I could hug you I would. Thank you Commodore I will always do my best " Yova replied.

"You've proven yourself in the past year, you've grown met someone and got married. I'm proud of you and if Ellie shows promise in science and shows she wants a promotion then it will come for her. And it will also depend on what her department heads say, McTavish and Herculoid. They'll have to recommend her for a promotion," Cyndi commented "But regardless this is about you and congratulations lieutenant. I'll make it official in a few minutes."

" Totally understand Ma'am I wasn't meaning to ask for her. I was just telling you that the Prophets have blessed me this year. Concerning my job I am fortifying the hull with a new Tellarite compound that should help us in that mine field. It helps defer magnetism to mines. Might even help us slide through space faster at warp." Yova replied.

"I know you weren't asking for your wife. As for the mine field lets hope Rivers and her fighters can plow a way through for us," Cyndi replied "I am familiar with that compound, keep me posted on how this goes. Any questions for me lieutenant?"

" No Ma'am ...I mean Commodore. Thank you again," the newly promoted Lieutenant said as he pivoted and rushed out.
