After a couple of days on Pegasus, their leave rotation was finished so it was time to get back to work. James and Heather showered, dressed, and were sitting having their breakfast together.

"So what's on your agenda for today" Heather asked while pouring herself another cup of coffee.

"Well, I suppose the first order of business is to go over any pending reports then it's off to check in on the other Labs and see how everyone's doing" he replied as he finished his coffee "And you...what have you got going today."

"I'm going to run some tests and do some research on that plant sample that you procured from that Cardassian women....you know the one you kissed" Heather replied with a grin.

"Ok....you don't have to rub it in" he commented with a chuckle "Besides I was thinking of you when I kissed her."

"Oh no you don't....your not going to wiggle your way out of this one" she replied then laughed.

James got up, placed his dishes in the sink, and walked over to give Heather a kiss good-bye "I think I'll leave while I'm still ahead. I'll see you later...love you."

"Love you too and I'll see you later" she said "Don't kiss any strange women today" as she giggled to herself.

{CSO's Office}

James entered his Office and signed in to his Terminal to bring up any reports that may need his attention. After signing off on those James shut down his Terminal and headed to Deck 31 to see how the Stellar Cartography people were doing; then he would work his way back up to the Main Lab on Deck 5.

{Deck 5 Main Lab}

Heather walked into the Lab and walked over to her work station to begin working on the plant that James had acquired.

She took the usual precautions using personal protection protocols as she got started. First she would take a thin slice of the plant and examine it under a microscope....nothing unusual as far as the cell structure was concerned.

Then she extracted some of the liquid from the plant and started running some tests on it. This is when things got interesting. Heather ran a chemical analysis and discovered that it was quite acidic. She decided to add some water to the liquid and proceeded to distill the mixture.

After about an hour the distillation process was finished. Rechecking the liquid she soon discovered not only was it very acidic but also quite toxic as well.

Since Lieutenant Herculiod was on leave, Heather called James to come and take a look at her findings.

James walked into the Main Lab "Good timing, I was on my way up to see you....so what's up" he asked.

Heather went over all her findings with James then commented "I don't how the Jem Hadar's bodies can tolerate this stuff....between being so acidic and toxic....I'm surprised their not all dead by now.

"The people did mention that they became very irritated when they first injected themselves with this stuff until their bodies absorbed the injection" James explained "Now I can see why."

"At some point that stuff is going to kill them....maybe not right away....but eventually" she replied.

James nodded in agreement "I'm just about done for the day....how much longer are you going to work" he asked.

"I've done about as much as I can do with this plant, so it's just a matter of cleaning up before I leave" Heather said "Unless you want to help me clean up then we both can leave."

"Sure I can do that" he replied; so Jamie started helping Heather clean up the Lab. Soon they had everything in order and left for home.
