#9 A place to start
Posted on Fri Jan 7th, 2022 @ 8:18pm by Chief Warrant Officer Niraasha "Nira" Whisperwind & Lieutenant Tara Herculoid PhD & Lieutenant T’Mia Rahl & Lieutenant James McTavish
Mission:
Kidnapped
Location: Bridge
Timeline: current/somewhere in between
ON:
Bjorgo was in the main lab fiddling with some blood samples while at the same time using a few other samples for testing. Nira was to his left, and the source of the blood samples, though she looked no worse for wear for having provided the liquid of life. The door leading into the lab from the corridor swished open and two Security personnel stepped through.
"Can I help you with something?" Asked Tore, while bringing himself up to a full stand.
"Captain Kahn has need of Nira. We are to escort her to the Bridge."
Bjorgo's gaze met the woman's eyes as she explained. It made sense. Nira was not a member of the crew officially, so therefore whenever she was to be on the Bridge it was as a guest, and an escort necessary. "I shall accompany you. I'm sure I know why she needs to speak to our Puazi guest. Nira, come along, dear." He hadn't told her about Song yet. An oversite on his part.
Nira stood up straight and got in with Bjorgo as they were then escorted to Deck One, stepping out onto the Bridge from the starboard lift. Nira immediately felt the tension and anxiety from the people within this space. "Liza, what has happened," she asked, her eyes glancing around for Cyndi.
Kahn's eyes shifted from Liza to Bjorgo, some anger behind them as she spoke to him, not the Puazi. "You haven't told her yet? You know how she feels about the Commodore."
"I was distracted by a lab priority," offered Tore, though his eyes showed no apology.
Giving a sigh Liza shifted her eyes back to the Puazi. "Nira, Commodore Song has been abducted, a short while ago. I asked you here to ask if there is anything you might be able to do to allow us to at least follow them. Any leads, no matter how small or inconsequential."
Nira puffed out her chest and stood tall. "I will do all I can for the Matriarch."
That small show of loyalty was enough to cause Liza to crack a smile. "I'm sure you will. She was abducted in the conference room. Please, go in and do your own investigation before I allow Security to do so. But, before that, a small formality has to be dealt with. As acting captain of this ship I am field promoting Nira Whisperwind to the rank of chief warrant officer, with all rights and privileges. You will then occupy the post of Security Investigations Officer, effective immediately. Duty Officer, so note in the ship's log."
Nira stood slack-jawed. She had been wanting to become a member of the clan since she had arrived, and now it was given. The Bridge was unusually quiet as those who stood around her also took in what had been said. "Dahnku, Captain."
"Well," said Tore. "That was unexpected." He too wore a smile and gave Nira a wink.
T’Mia was in her seat, she couldn’t help but smile at both Nira and Tore’s reaction to the promotion.
McTavish was at the Science Station keeping track of the Commodore's Bio signs from time to time; except this time they had....well....disappeared. James checked and rechecked for the Bio signs soon realizing they were actually gone.
Looking towards Kahn "Captain I've checked and rechecked my Screen and the Commodore's Bio signs are gone; I think the Alien Ship may have left the area" he stated wishing things were different "I'm going to run some Parametric Scans and see if I can pick up it's trajectory."
Tara walked over to where James was and looked at the readings "Have you tried scanning for a warp trail on the last known location that you had a fix on the commodore?" Looking to Kahn "Sir once she's located again I'd like to accompany the fighters out to bring her home. I am a qualified fighter pilot."
Kahn also approached the two as she spoke to her new officer. "Nira, get in there and find me something." She waved at the conference room door, dropping her hand to her side as she came up on McTavish's other shoulder to see the screens. "Also, check for subspace distortions. Going to warp tends to cause ripples and what not. As for fighters," Kahn stood up straight again as she looked to Herculoid. "No fighters, at this time. Launch and landing takes time. If we catch a signal or a break of any kind we need to be able to jump on it ASAP."
Nira entered the conference room, all her senses now on high. As Security investigations officer she now had access to the internal sensors, and she used her PADD to bring up the portion where Song had been whisked from this room. Once she had the exact spot she set the PADD down and brought out her tricorder. Scanning for a few minutes she spotted something in the Commodore's chair that would aid their search immensely. She moved towards the chair with a grin on her face.

Kahn waited for her officers to respond to her orders. Council was always welcome.
Tore had moved casually over to the Science II, standing console. He tapped in his favored configuration, inputting mathematical probabilities for the safe return of Song. The odds weren't bad. While doing that he began to research this Republican Guard and why they had a grudge against the Commodore.
"On it Captain" James replied. He and Tara worked together to find anything that might give them some direction. After what was said James decided to put the Parametric Scans on the back burner and use as a last resort due to the amount of time it would take to properly initiate, instead they started with the warp trail which came up empty. Next they scanned for subspace distortions. After several minutes....success. James used the subspace distortions and was able to figure out a probable trajectory. "Captain I have a trajectory for the Alien Ship....they're heading for a planet called Glintok" then he paused "It's in close proximity to Klavor." James had a bad feeling about this and the Commodore's safety as well.
"Excellent," stated Kahn. "Send all relevant data to flight control." She half turned and looked to the back of the FC officer. "Helm, once Science sends you data, go to warp one and follow. Don't wait for my order." The orders were acknowledged.
Nira stepped back out onto the Bridge, her hands held up before her as if she had a string between them--which, she did. But, an organic string. "I have a strand of hair from the Commodore. I need map of sector, flat map, to put hair on."
Bjoprgo tapped a few keys and a holographic map, laying flat as the deck appeared at waist height in the center of the Bridge command area. He watched as Nira went over to it and stood over it on one side. She manipulated the hair in her hands, moving it around with purposeful hand gestures, the string becoming a strand of Eldritch Magick, becoming a strand of amber sparks. Once the somatic gestures were finished and Nira balled the amber energy into her palm, she tossed it in the air and it landed on the map, blowing apart and scattering. A few moments passed as the amber energy tendrils began to roil and move across the map, finally coming together to form an amber energy arrow pointing pretty much the same direction that McTavish had discovered. "Song go that way." Nira motioned at her arrow just before it dissipated.
Bjorgo, always a bit cynical. "Well, glad we all agree on something. Also, where's Hurd, isn't he supposed to be XO while you're playing captain?"
"Hopefully, having a cold shower," said Liza, the snark in her tone apparent. "When he cools off he'll be welcome on my Bridge."
"Gotcha," replied Tore, ending that line of questioning and the topic. "I'll return to Sickbay and let you lot split hairs over what to do next." He gave a nod meant for all and stepped into the lift.
Flight Control announced they had the data, and jumping to warp one. "Thank you, Helm. Secure from red alert but maintain shields while traveling. Get back to standard operating until we arrive. Carry on, everyone, I'll be in the Ready Room." Kahn made her way off the Bridge.
Nira watched her go, needing to go to a replicator and create her pips/symbols/regalia for her rather unique outfit. Without a word she left the Bridge.
END:
OOC: we can always JP some more on the way. Sensors work better the slower a starship moves, obviously. Hence; warp one.
