[Three Days Later]

The 2nd Magistrate made his way into the Meeting Room shortly before eleven hundred knowing how important it was to be on time or the Nyberrites would just return home.

Kinlo smelled something he hadn't smelled in a long time and looked up to see a familiar face coming towards him.

The person was Drago Neswa the Chief Trenso of the Nyberrite Alliance. His stature was the exact opposite of Kinlo's. He was barely five feet tall, which was considered tall for his species, and a rather portly fellow with grayish skin and maroon hair which hung down to his shoulders. Even though he was small in stature, by most accounts, he was extremely muscular with massive strength. Drago's attire showed his station in life with finely woven clothing, numerous medals, and a sleeveless vest which was intended to showcase his muscles thereby intimidating his enemies.

Drago walked up to Kinlo and smiled "2nd Magistrate Dasheer, it's been a long time since last we met" he stated with a pleasant mannerism.

"Chief Trenso Neswa it's good to see you once again[hiss]" Kinlo replied with his braids showing how relaxed he was "May our meeting be fruitful for both our Planets[hiss]."

Drago knew just how cunning Kinlo could be so he just smiled "Yes that would be beneficial for all concerned.....let's just hope the Third Party is as good as your people thinks they are" he replied.

Before Kinlo could give a reply, he heard something some distance away and saw a beam of light descending into the Room.....it was someone he had great confidence in.

Lt. Commander Green materialized on the surface of Quagmire, within the building designated for this meeting. Cosmo was at her right side. Rogue had a tricorder and PADD on an away belt around her hips. Of course, her saber hilt was sideways along her lumbar region at the waistline. Seeing the Tholian in his body armor and the Nyberrite representative she walked forward. Cosmo warbled and bleeped next to her, his head swiveling to look at the others, then Green, then back again. "Yes," smiled Green, glancing down at her companion. "He does have a lot of muscles. But, we came to talk, not fight, so don't be worried."

The pair arrived and stopped a respectful distance from the other two. "Always a pleasure, Magistrate Kinlo. Greetings to you, Sir." Green said as she looked to the Nyberrite and gave a bow from the neck. "I am Lieutenant Commander Rogue Green and this," she motioned to her droid companion. "Is Cosmo, a mechanical being of my own creation and a lifelong companion." Cosmo gave a few words. "He says hello and he is pleased to meet you."

Seeing this tall fine figure of a women Drago stepped forward "Allow me to introduce myself Lieutenant Commander Green,,,,I am Chief Trenso Drago Neswa of the Nyberrite Alliance.....it is a pleasure to meet you" he replied with a grin as he flexed his muscles.

Kinlo was not impressed with Drago's mannerisms thinking that it was almost rude the way he had introduced himself to such a fine Officer "Shall we take a seat and begin our talks [hiss]" he suggested pointing to a round table with three chairs.

Kinlo sat as did the Nyberrite each on opposite sides of the table leaving the center seat to be occupied by Green.

Relying on her diplomatic training Green observed the other two parties as they chose their seats, and once they had claimed them she then stepped over and sat down in the remaining chair. Cosmo was at her side, as always. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Chief Drago. I am glad you decided to meet with us and discuss matters of importance. Peace is its own reward." Once that was said and a moment was given for it to sink in, Ro continued. "Now, the question is, fellow beings; where do we begin?"

Kinlo began to speak as a matter of strategic importance "Let me begin then [hiss]" he stated then continued "With respect Chief Trenso my government has proof that your race has been pushing it's territory further west towards our Planet which is against the Treaty of 2156 which cannot be tolerated [hiss]"

Drago just laughed rather loudly "The only reason for our expansion into the buffer space between us is because you Tholians started the same thing years ago towards us first. Just because you are in an area of space for a period of time does not make it yours and that Sir cannot be tolerated by us" Drago said matter of factly as he was now standing fists clenched.

Rogue could feel the negativity from both of them. She remained calm and spoke in a calm tone. "Chief Trenso, please remain calm." Green stood up and got behind her high-backed chair, placing her hands on the headrest. "Diplomacy is never easy. By your opening statements I can tell you both have a thorn to pick with the other. You crossed their lines," she said, motioning at Kinlo. "You are crossing their lines." She made it fair and motioned at Trenso. "Glad that is covered. Now, let's begin by coming to an agreement on borders. Territorial claims. I say we go back to this agreement your governments have and re-establish the original claimed territories. That means that both of you have to give and take equally. Would that be an issue, gentlemen?"

Both Kinlo and Drago sat for a few moments letting what Green had just said sink in both realizing this was the best approach to the present situation that both worlds now faced.

After several minutes Drago responded " Lieutenant Commander Green if I may give a brief history of our worlds. After the Great War, and millions had perished on both sides, our governments realized this was not sustainable if both our species were to exist. To that end they sat down and came up with the Treaty of 2156 which stated that a 'buffer of space' would exist between both Planets if a lasting peace was to prevail" then he paused for a moment "If the Tholians rescind their presence in the 'buffer space' then and only then will the Nyberrites do the same. The last thing we want is another bloody war that could destroy both our Planets."

Kinlo sat listening to Drago's proposal with his braids twitching every so often knowing that this was a viable solution and one that would not cause any loss of life. He then gave his reply "On behalf of the Tholian Assembly and the people of Tholia we accept your proposal Chief Trenso Neswa as long as you do as you say you will do [hiss]. We will vacate the 'buffer space' and remain in our boarders as long as you do the same [hiss]."

Still accessing the Core Green had her Sense on high. The two were still suspicious of one another but there was also the feeling of acceptance. Trusting her feelings Rogue was glad to have aided in getting these two talking. "You both honor me. Thank you for trusting in logic and reason. War is never beneficial to anyone." She paused as an idea sprang forth, continuing when she figured out how to word it in a few moments. "Since we are all talking peacefully, to maintain the peace, I would suggest another agreement between the Alliance and the Tholian Hegemony. If one party feels the need to cross into the disputed region then it is on that party to contact and inform the other of their needs or intentions. In essence, open a dialogue and prevent any further misunderstandings by simply making a call. Mutual respect."

Green finished speaking, still holding the headrest on her chair as she stood behind it. Her eyes went back and forth between the two. "Would it not be beneficial to see your younglings thriving due to the deeds accomplished here today? It is the future that matters, and what we do here today will decide that." Ro smiled at them both. "Apologies, I tend to get long-winded when I feel something from the heart."

The 2nd Magistrate as well as the Chief Trenso listened very carefully to what Green had proposed each giving it some serious consideration.

Drago spoke first "Lieutenant Commander Green you are wise beyond your years....this sounds like a viable solution to further negate any future problems between our two Planets" he reasoned then looking at Kinlo "We're willing to provide this consideration if your people are....so what say you."

Kinlo thought for a moment "Yes we can extend this consideration to you as well [hiss]" he stated then looking towards Green "What you have proposed today may just be the difference between peace and war....thank you [hiss]."

"It is the wise being who chooses cooperation over competition," stated Rogue. "Consider me your envoy, both of you. I will represent you and your governments to the Federation Council, if need be." In a moment's time Green felt completely centered, the Core recognizing her efforts and adding to her mental awareness. "I am a guardian of peace and justice for all beings. It is not my duty, it is my way of life."

Drago looked at Green then at Kinlo with a smile "Old Friend I will inform my Government of our conversations and will implement our recession from the 'buffer space' immediately upon my return to Nyberrite" he informed Kinlo...turning to Green "Lieutenant Commander again thank you for your wisdom and now I will depart to hold up our end of the agreement." Then Drago touched his Communicator "Zinbo non huck" and moments later he disappeared in a stream of blue light.

The 2nd Magistrate was very pleased with what had transpired in this meeting, looking at Green "My people owe you a debt of gratitude for your wisdom to avoid war [hiss] he stated "Consider the weapon to be null and void....we will develop it no further and will make sure there will be no trace of any of our research [hiss]."

"For the sake of all living creatures I hope you obliterate every byte of data," Said Green. "You are a credit to your species, Magistrate. I can't thank you enough for this meeting. I'll return to Amandora and inform my superiors. Peace and long life to you and your people, Kinlo." She looked down at Cosmo. "Ready to go home?" He bleeped a few times. She nodded with a smile and reached up to tap her badge. Her hand stopped halfway up to the badge and then it dropped as she walked forward to stand right in the face of Kinlo while he wore his protective armor. If he removed it the cold air would shatter his crystalline structure. "Pardon me, Kinlo, but Humans have a gesture of good will with those they see as friends." Stepping in Ro wrapped her arms around the armor as best she could, giving a squeeze to the armored being in a warm hug. She stepped back. "There, my friend. That was a hug, meant to show my respect and gratitude for your patience and understanding. Until we meet again." This time she tapped her badge and was beamed out at her request, leaving the Tholian to contemplate what had just happened. Knowing Tholians Kinlo would research this thing called a hug and understand that it was meant as a gesture of both trust and compassion.

Kinlo was a little taken back by Green's gesture but trusted her explanation until he had the time to research the gesture for himself. But now it was on to important matters. Tapping his Communications device "This is Kinlo...we're done here [hiss].

Moments later he disappeared in a beam of crimson light leaving the Meeting Room empty of life forms.
