Post Number 19 New Second Officer

Mission: Rescue On Romulus
Location: Cyndi's Quarters
Timeline: Before The Dinner JP.

ON:

Cyndi closed out the message from Mystery, closed her lap top and turned to look at Paul "Captain Ellis speaks highly of Commander O'Connell and I think he's going to be an asset to the ship."

"Are you sure I should be here?" Paul asked

"He's going to meet you at some point might as well be now," Cyndi said tapping her com-badge "Commander O'Connell can you report to my quarters, it's time we met."

Jamie had returned from welcoming the Romulans some time ago and was putting some of his things away in an attempt to get settled before the dinner when he heard the call. Tapping his Comm "On my way Commodore."

"Well at least all of the Senior Staff's Quarters were on the same deck" he thought but decided to grab his PADD; just in case. He wished Heather was here, she always had a way of reassuring him when he was tense about something.

Jamie found his way rather easily to Song's Quarters. He approached then palmed the chime waiting for the Commodore to answer with both his hands clasped behind his back and a smile on his face.

Paul hearing the door chime walked over and palmed the sensor letting the door slide open "Please come in, the commodore will be right out, you must be Commander O'Connell, I'm her husband Paul."

Jamie walked in and extended his hand towards Paul "It's very nice to meet you Paul and yes guilty as charged....I'm Commander Jamie O'Connell" he replied with a grin shaking hands with Paul.

Paul shook his hand and smiled "Your former captain spoke highly of you,"

Cyndi walked into the room "Thank you for coming to my quarters, there are times when I feel I'm ignoring my husband. Please have a seat, can I offer you anything?"

"Cynd, I'm going to sent a message to Brent before we cross the Neutral Zone," Paul said "Commander good to meet you and Cynd your not ignoring me, I know well the demands of command."

"Paul it was nice to meet you as well" Jamie said then turning to Cyndi "No Commodore I'm good" then he sat in the offered seat.

Cyndi took a seat across from him "Brent is our son, he's home with my parents. Your free to call me Cyndi when we're not on the bridge," she picked up a PADD and scrolled through it "Captain Ellis speaks highly of you and recommended you for this position. She's a good friend and a fine officer."

"Actually Captain Ellis is the reason I chose this Ship....she speaks very highly of you also. Star Fleet gave me a few options for my next assignment but I trust Mystery's judgement....so here I am" Jamie explained.

"As well you should," Cyndi agreed "She doesn't know it yet so your the first outside of my husband, she's going to be promoted to Fleet Captain." Cyndi picked up another PADD and handed to him "As you know she has a house on Earth's moon, she mentioned how much you enjoyed staying there. She's giving you half ownership in it."

Jamie was very surprised by the whole conversation "That's wonderful news about Captain Ellis's promotion; I can't think of anyone who deserves it more" he stated then paused a moment "I must confess that half ownership of her house is very unexpected but is greatly appreciated. If you hear from her please tell her thank you very much; both Heather and I am deeply touched by her generosity."

"I'll tell her," Cyndi replied "She's well deserving of it. She's on Risa and is going to be taking command of a star base in a few months now that the Independence is down for that refit. My college Admiral Snow will be promoting Mystery. I should tell you that my husband is a retired rear admiral. I didn't take his last name as I wanted to make this on my own. His last name is Sanderson."

"That's understandable not wanting to use his last name otherwise you'd be working in his shadow all the time" Jamie replied "Also the Heather that I spoke of is my new bride.....Mystery preformed the ceremony just before we found out about the refit. After we cross back over the Neutral Zone I'll get word to her on Betazed so she can rendezvous with our Ship."

Cyndi nodded "I'm looking forward to meeting her. Paul's a good man, he chased me for three years before I finally agreed to marry him."

"Smartest thing she did to, saying yes," Paul said walking into the room. "Cyndi Brent said to tell you he loves you and to call him when your not busy being the boss."

"When Heather gets here I'd like to have the two of you over for dinner. Mystery did tell me she preformed your wedding. There is one more surprise but she requested I not give it to you until Heather is aboard," Cyndi said.

Jamie didn't quite know what to say at Cyndi's last remark but managed to say " Dinner would be our pleasure, I'm sure Heather would like to meet the both of you as well" he commented wondering what other surprise that Mystery had up her sleeve.

"I'm sure your needing to unpack and get ready for the dinner with our Romulan guests," Cyndi said "After the dinner is over take the next day off if you like to get used to the ship and her officers and crew. Do you have any concerns or questions that you'd like to voice?"

"Yes I should be going and get ready for dinner" as Jamie stood "No I don't have any questions at this time and thank you I'd like a day to wander around the Ship and get to know where things are" he commented "Cyndi I look forward to working under your command."

Cyndi stood as well "I look forward to serving with you. And let me officially welcome you aboard,"

"I second that," Paul said "You'll see me around the ship and just call me Paul,"

"Thank you both and I'm glad to be here" Jamie replied then made his way to the door to go back to his quarters and get ready for dinner.

Paul walked him to the door, "We'll see you at dinner,"
