Post Number 33 Going To Get Nix

Posted on Thu Jun 16th, 2022 @ 11:59am by Captain Alesha Rivers & Captain Rogue Green {Meji}

Mission: Rescue On Romulus
Location: Various
Timeline: Current

ON:

Alesha hearing the order from Ro ran to the fighter bay and over to her fighter. Raising the tarp covering it, she climbed aboard and ran the flight check, charged the weapons and placed the cloak on standby. Everything checked out, switching on the computers and tapping her com-badge "Commander Green this is Rivers, my fighter is ready, let's go get Nix."

Ro had beamed directly to her quarters, changing into a coverall style jumpsuit that conformed to the body, solid black. A solid black equipment belt with various pouches was put on, also solid black. Knee high boots with pants tucked in, black. Finally, over the top of the double breasted jumpsuit she donned a Vulcan cloak complete with hood. Leaving the hood back for now Ro gathered both her saber hilts and hooked them to her belt on the back of each hip, hidden from view by the cloak. Once finished dressing, hair already in Dutch braids, Green went down and climbed aboard the fighter, getting into the Sensor Operator's seat and buckling in. "Ya know, if you need another fighter jock, I can fill in from time to time, Alesha."

"I just may take you up on that," Alesha said putting on her helmet, closed the canopy "Transporter room this is Rivers lock onto my signal and beam me into space, I'm not taking chances on being detected." Just as the transporter beam engaged Alesha switched on the cloak, once in space she fired the engines and hit the throttle and at the same time banking away from the mother ship "Next stop the prison moon, once we locate Nix I'll drop the cloak long enough for us to pick her up."

{Moon}

Hours had gone by as the Romulan Guards kept searching for Nix but to no avail. Hidden in the cave a few meters from where the Shuttle had set down previously, Nix was still waiting for help to arrive. Hunger was setting in but Nix would have to wait for now. "Do you think that they'll come for you" she could sense Dunjen say. "Yes, I have to believe they will" Nix replied. "And if they don't?" After several moments of silence Nix responded "Then I guess we'll have to come up with plan B."

{Fighter}

Ro had meditated for a couple of hours to regain her strength. She felt the Core strong within herself. For the meditating she had put the hood up, the front edges bell shaped as they dascaded to either side of her head, with enough material that if Ro dipped her chin slightly her facial features would be well hidden. Perfect for what she had planned. "Alesha, how many prisoners would you say occupy this facility?"

"They keep most of them underground in a cavern. That can hold about twenty, the cells have bars but the bars are wired with electrical charges. I know a way into the cavern I've flown it recently when I went there with Nix to scout it out. Last scan there were fifteen people there all in need of medical attention," Aesha said "Conditions are harsh both above and below. Few are kept on the surface, they want them to suffer so they put prisoners underground."

"Sounds as pleasant as the mines on Remus," quipped Green, having been part of a SOCOM mission to extract several key members of the Romulan Republic. "But, for what I have planned that is perfect. I will approach the main entrance alone. You will remain hidden until I begin to occupy their attention, sneaking passed them and into the facility to find Nix. Once found you both will get back to your ship as soon as possible, that is an order." Even Romulans were prone to laziness, or taking things for granted, she thought. A super secret facility that no one ever visits is the perfect recipe for allowing sentries to become distracted and less alert.

"Commander I won't leave you, that's not how I operate," Alesha said "We're crossing the neutral zone, the moon is just ahead. Sensors are set to Federation,"

"Lieutenant, your mission is to get Nix Dunjen back to Amandora," stated Green in no uncertain terms. "You can save one, I can free many. They won't all fit in your fighter. Do as I command, please."

Alesha glanced over at her and nodded "Okay commander, but it's under protest, I'll get Nix back, then I'll come back for you. I know how to read Romulan and I can fly one of their crafts. I'm getting readings on Nix, I'm de-cloaking and landing."

"Alesha, you're not the only one who can read Rihannsu. I too have that gift, all three dialects. Speak, read, write and understand." Ro gave her counterpart a grin. "What I need you to do on your return trip is cause a distraction by strafing what is left of this facility. I plan on wrecking it so that the Romulan Empire stays busy for a while trying to figure out just how we got in to begin with. The Empire will remain quiet while they dig deep into cause and effect. Months of peace we could use."

"She'll fire cloaked, I'll get Nix back and I'll be back," Alesha said touching the fighter down on the moon surface, raising the canopy and taking a seat on the edge of the fighter "Come on Nix where are you?"

Green stood and hopped down form the cockpit to the turf, reaching back and raising the hood over her head as she adjusted the cloak to enwrap her shoulders. Her solid black form was hard to distinguish in the shadows as she stood stock still and reached out with the Core. She had met Nix, spoken with her, so she had an imprint of her life energy already imprinted in her mind. She found it in an odd place. In a quiet tone she spoke. "Rivers. That way," she raised her arm straight out to her right, pointing. "That network of caverns. Be wary there is a great amount of excitement and anxiety. Nix may have escaped." Green turned in the direction she had pointed. If Nix was out here then she would have to improvise, overcome and adapt to the changing situation. Moving cautiously and as quickly as she could Rogue went off towards where she had indicated, expecting Rivers to keep up with her without invitation.

Alesha reached back into her fighter, grabbed her phase rifle, hopped to the surface and followed Ro. Keep watch as they went. Seeing the opening to the underground cavern she pointed "That commander is the way into the cavern that has the cells and the prisoners." Keeping her rifle at the ready as they searched for Nix.

Green stopped and crouched, speaking low when Alesha came up and crouched with her. As she spoke she pulled her two saber hilts out and interlocked them at the pummel, creating a quarterstaff handle if need be. That, and an extended hilt never hurt. One blade cloud blue, the other bright crimson. She planned to use both blades against separate groups, hoping to confuse them into thinking she was more than one. She then hooked the longer hilt to her belt along her left thigh. "Hole-up and hide for a few minutes. I'm going into the cell block to cause a distraction. When the other patrols get recalled find Nix and haul jets." She gripped Alesha's bicep in a friendly manner. "Trust me, I'll be fine."

Nix thought she heard something near the previous landing site "Dunjen, did you hear that" she whispered as she stood and extended her weapon "Yes it sounded like" then he paused "It sounded like that damn Fighter." "Well that makes since....it can cloak and remain unseen; besides at this point I'll ride in just about anything to get off this damn planet" Nix replied. "Speak for yourself" Dunjen mused.

Nix walked to the cave entrance and parted the vegetation with the tip of her weapon to get a better view but still nothing. "We'll wait a few more minutes then I'm going out there and have a look around" Nix stated knowing, or hoping, help was finally here.

"Be careful commander," Alesha said "The tunnel in is steep and long." seeing movement at a cave raised high enough to see who or what it was and relieve to see Nix, picking up a small stone she threw it at Nix hoping she'd look her way. Alesha was hidden in the brush as she threw a second stone Nix's way."

Using a combination of Sense and Control through the Core, Green's hands and feet found good purchase as she descended beneath the fire escape style staircase. It kept her in the shadows and out of the running lights. Finding the entry tunnel she then saw where the construction took place, with state of the art technology. All fully active due to the prisoner escape. Several screens she had passed while sneaking through corridors, barely perceptible nods of her head activating her telekinesis instead of somatic gestures. Seems she had mastered that much. Cameras and internal sensor nodes, lights and power all flickering and having issues when she needed them to.

Finding what she sought, a plasma manifold in an out of the way section, Green removed the access panel and crawled inside. Reaching out with the Core she felt no presence around her. Bringing up her hilt Green ignited the saber's crimson blade and touched it to a plasma conduit. Just enough to cause a weak point that would break in the next few minutes and causing the unit to overheat and explode. The distraction would be plenty to cause a bit of panic. Closing her blade down Green put it back on her belt and then exited the crawlspace.

Nix heard a small stone ping off the front of the entrance to the cave, but she still couldn't see anyone. Then a second stone did the same only this time it almost hit Nix....as she strained her eyes she saw a familiar face peek up from behind some brush. "Dunjen I think the cavalry has arrived" she thought . Nix bent down with her weapon to her right side and somewhat behind her, ready to be dispatched at a moments notice, as she walked low to the ground and bent over to the brush.

Once there Nix smiled and said in a whisper "Alesha.....boy am I glad to see you."

"Likewise," Alesha said "Commander Green is here too, she's going to try to free the prisoners in the underground cells. My orders are to get you back to the ship. My fighter is not far from here." Alesha tapped her ear piece "Commander I have Nix heading back to the ship now I'll return as soon as I can. Please be careful. Come on Nix," Alesha got to her feet and kept a eye out for any signs of Romulan guards as they ran to where the fighter was "Get in!"

Deciding ona new tactic Green pulled her extended hilt out and unlocked them. Better to have the two blades swirling and slicing independently. Just as Rivers sent her message Ro casually walked around a corner, feeling at least three Romulans just out of sight. As she came into view she set herself in the center of the corridor, her hood up and her chin dropped, feet shoulders apart in a ready stance. In perfect Rihannsu, the dialect from the Northern Tova region, Green allowed them to see her mouth turn up in an evil grin. "Hello, boys."

Nix climbed the ladder quickly and couldn't get in fast enough as she took the second seat, put on helmet and strapped herself in "Dunjen I don't think your going to mind riding in the Fighter this time" Nix thought. "Not at all....can't wait to get off this god forsaken moon" came the reply.

Alesha climbed aboard, fired the engines, closed the canopy, cloaked the fighter and took off. "Several things have happened since you came to this moon and not all of it good." Alesha said as she fired the thrusters and headed for the Neutral Zone. "The Amandora is in a Nebula, as soon as your safely back aboard I have to go back for Commander Green."

Nix thought for a moment "Alright....as soon as we land I'll vacate the Fighter so you can get back to Lieutenant Commander Green as quickly as possible" she commented being a little concerned for Ro's safety.

"I can't give you any orders but I think you shoujld go see Dr Long and be checked out to make sure your okay after being on that moon so long. I can't go into any detail, that will have to come from the commodore but what I can said is there's been trouble," Alesha said as she checked her readings and altered course to head for the Amandora.

With roughly twelve meters between them the three Romulan soldiers raised their rifles and fired from the hip. The shock and fear in their eyes was quite apparent as she ignited both sabers and began to deflect their energy bolts harmlessly into the walls.

"What in the Five Elements is that?!" Asked one of the sentries.

The team leader responded while still trying to fire. The target was getting closer despite how much energy they shot her way. The Centurion couldn't help but feel the fear trying to crawl up out of her being. "Cease fire!" They stopped shooting and the hooded figure stopped, blades still lit with that thrum of power, which seemed to react to movement through the air. "Who are you? This is a facility belonging to the Romulan Star Emp..."

"I know exactly what it is, Centurion!" Barked out Green, the vehemence in her voice unmistakable. "You let me gather these people and leave peacefully, or you will never set foot outside this facility ever again."

"So, you are Starfleet?" Asked the Centurion. She could see a possible way out of this to save the facility as a whole. Sub-commander Nalus could eat offal.

Green closed down the crimson blade, hooking the hilt to her belt without taking her eyes off of her enemies. "I serve Starfleet, yes. But, this is not Starfleet. This is my own doing. I am Rogue Green, Champion of the Order of Meji. We are guardians of liberty and justice, and we have sworn to protect the Federation at all costs." It all sounded good, anyway. And, deep down, Ro meant it. After the lengthy discussions in the alternate galaxy with the Jedi masters she had come to realize that there would always be a balancing act between good and evil, light and dark. Using some of their ideals, and then cross-referencing with an ancient order from Egypt, Green had named her new Order: MEJI.

"And, if we kill you, what then?" Asked the Centurion, her own eyes squinting a bit. Order of Meji? This was the first she had heard of it.

"Give it your best, Centurion," Green responded. "You will lose and your people will have died for nothing. Or, you make a logical decision and let me make away with as many as I can get on one of your runabouts. You have my word that the runabout will be left in the Neutral Zone for your people to pick up later."

"Your word," harumphed the Centurion. Suddenly an explosion rocked the facility, alarms sounding. It rattled and shook the flooring, with Green keeping her balance but seeing the Romulans grabbing handholds. Calling on the Core she leaped in and her saber danced around, each slash and strike completely missing any body parts but completely destroying their weapons. All three backed against the wall as Green held her saber at waist level with the point waving back and forth lazily right in their faces.

"The choice is yours," stated Green. "I kill you now and there is no chance for revenge or, we act on honor here and come to an accord. I am not here to embarrass you, nor to have you lose face. None of what has transpired needs to be said to anyone. Can we be civil or do I keep my blade handy?"

"What do you propose," asked the Centurion. Whatever this strange weapon was, it easily cut through just about everything. "My failure to stop you will be examined. I die for no one else but me, Stranger."

"No one needs to die," stated Green, her own exasperation clear in her tone. "Join the Romulan Republic and fight for Romulans, not the government and the cowards who run it." Ro then closed her blade down, stepping in face-to-face with the Centurion. "I have yet to lie to you. See my point of view."

The Centurion took a few moments to take in all that was said. In her mind saving her command was more important, despite the breaches in Security. "I agree, Rogue Green. Leave with the prisoners, and leave us to clean up the mess."

Green gave a nod of acknowledgement. "A wise choice, Centurion. I never take pleasure in having to kill. Let me slip through the cracks and I promise your family will benefit."

"Go," said the Centurion. "Shuttle bays are that way." She pointed down a long corridor.

"Jolan Tru, Centurion. Call on Rogue Green when you feel slighted, and I will fight for you. Peace and long life, Centurion."

Alesha had dropped Nix off and after a reminder to be checked by Dr. Long, cloaked the fighter again and headed back to the moon. Once there she her ear piece "Commander Green, this is Rivers, Nix is back aboard the ship, I'm cloaked and will begin the strafing run."

Green caught the transmission, looking up at her nemesis. "So, Centurion, do I say yes and destroy this facility, or do you let me slide?"

"You will slide," stated the Centurion. "Take a runabout, gather as many as it will hold, and vacate the premises. I will see to the rest."

"I owe you, Centurion." Green gave her a bow from the neck. "You will not regret your decision, so far as Starfleet is concerned. Ya know, the Republic needs intelligent officers. Maybe it's time to consider alternatives."

"Leave, Meji,"said the Centurion. "Now would be a good time. Go."

Green hauled ass, getting to the shuttle bay and absconding with a Romulan runabout. Her prisoners were all aboard this small craft as they blasted free and headed out.

Alesha completed the strafing run just in time to see a Romulan Runabout, after a sensor reading Alesha sighed a sigh of relief "Commander am I glad to see you. I suggest you cloak and haul ass to the ship. I'll cover you."

Green smiled at Alesha's anxiety. "Lieutenant Rivers. Unlike too many in your family, I have reached an accord with the Romulan commander. There will be no pursuit. Please, inform the Amandora that I will meet them at Outpost 27. Escort me home, please."

"I pray your right," Alesha answered as she dropped the cloak. "The Amandora acknowledges she'll meet you there. I'll stay on your wing."

"As expected, Alesha. However, I have a question. Why do you not trust the Romulan people?"

"They launched a brutal attack on my home planet, occupied us for several years, our Queen was taken prisoner, my mum was and is the captain of the guards. She's one of four who hold the planet's defense codes and somehow they found out. Grabbed mum and tortured her so badly that she finally gave up the codes so the pain would stop. Tara is the one who was able to get away from them, rallied followers and led the defense to free our world. Her mum remained a prisoner for a couple years afterwards. It was my mum who led the attack to rescue her. That commander is as you say the short version. Tara can tell you more so can Kristian," Alesha responded.

Green took all that in and in a calm voice she replied. Not accusatory but matter-of-fact. "So, your people fear the Romulans so much that it has driven you to paranoia. At some point I hope that your people can overcome this conditioning. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."

"Tara has the authority to broker a a treaty and an olive branch between our worlds. But she's a Starfleet Officer. That's why she's leaving it up to the Amazon Government. Kristian and I have talked to her about reaching out but she does not want to cross the line between Starfleet and the Amazon Government," Alesha responded.

"Something I shall speak to her about when we return. But, these people need my help so I will sign off and get them cleaned up and settled. You're a damn fine officer, Alesha. Green out." She signed off and got up, heading to the back to aid those she had rescued. She left the cloak tossed over the pilot's seat.

Alesha followed Green to the ship and after a few minutes landed in the fighter bay. She couldn't help but wonder what kind of reaction Tara would have when Green approached her about the treaty talks.
