Tara had gone to her quarters and changed back into her regular uniform. The death of Kahn weighed heavily on her. It had been a long time since she’d lost anyone under her command. Everyone knew the risks when they put on a uniform but this one was going to be hard. The crew respected and liked Kahn.

Stepping onto the bridge a few minutes later, “Commander O’Connell good job, I’m sorry to have thrust you into command so quickly,” Cyndi said

“Helm status report how close are we to the outpost?” Cyndi asked

“We’ll be there in a few minutes,” Came the reply.

“When we arrive standard orbit. Communications put me on ship wide speakers. I have an announcement to make, one I don’t want to make but it has to be done,” Cyndi said taking her seat

“You’re on commodore,”

“All hands this is the commodore. As some of you know we hosted a Romulan delegation for dinner. For reasons I don’t know yet we were boarded and several of the officers were injured. Lieutenant Commander Liza Kahn was killed in the conflict and Nira was injured. Medical did all they could for the commander but her injuries were to severe and she was lost. She was a joined Trill and we’re on the way to outpost 27 to take the symbiont there as it will need a new host. We all know the risks that come with wearing this uniform. Liza will be greatly missed. Song out.” Cyndi had done her best to keep her voice from breaking but knew she’d not done a very good job. Answers were needed and she hoped they’d come soon.

“Sir we’re at the outpost, standard orbit,” helm reported
