Posted on Thu Jun 23rd, 2022 @ 12:41am by Lieutenant JG Jamie T. Kirk/AKA: "Jim" & Chief Warrant Officer Niraasha "Nira" Whisperwind & Commodore Cyndi Song
Mission:
A Patrol and Supply mission
Location: Planet Surface
Timeline: current
ON:
Cyndi, Kristian and Nira materialized on the planet not far from the Tiki Bar. Walking forward and into the Tiki Bar Cyndi seeing Lucas walked over "I'm Commodore Song, this is my Chief Medical Office Dr. Kristian Long and my Security Officer Nira. Thank you for meeting me.
"It's a pleasure to meet you," Kristian said.
Lucas had stood when he heard the transporter, seeing the trio materializing out in the sunshine and walking inside. He could understand that, having a career in space made one miss actual all-natural sunlight. And, this star just so happened to be an almost exact twin of Sol. "A pleasure to meet you all," he said as he shook hands with each in turn, starting with Song as the leader. He half turned and held an arm out guiding them to stand at the bar where his Caitian feline assistant sat and tapped at her PADD, and he gave signals to the bartender. By the time the three officers had bellied up to the bar with him there were three lime margaritas sitting before them. "As promised," said Lucas, smiling. "Nothing better than a chat over drinks. Seems more civil that way, don't it."
"It does indeed, and please call me Cyndi," she said picking up the drink and took a sip "I'd forgotten how good a margarita was.
Kristian picked up the drink and took a sip "I could get used to this real quick. This is wonderful."
Of course, Nira's whiskers and ears, along with her other senses took in everything around them. She detected absolutely no threats, just people going about their lives. And, she could see a sizeable crowd was forming and entering the bar to see the Starfleet people for themselves. This was why she had wore her standard bikini outfit and her combadge and Starfleet equipment; tricorder, PADD. She leaned forward and sniffed, then huffed at her drink. Her whiskers gave a bit of a wiggle each in what could only be perceived as joy as she smiled and took up the large glass in both hands and downed it in seconds flat. Setting the glass down with finality she then belched LOUD and gave a kid-like smile. "Yummy!"
Everyone was stunned into silence for a few moments, everyone glancing around at everyone else to see if anyone had been offended. Before anyone else could react Lucas busted out laughing, bending at the waist and slapping his thigh for a full minute before he could ease enough to speak. "That was priceless. Oh, man." He laughed some more. "Commodore, you and your people are welcome to come and go as you please. We'll get the supplies moved down after your crew gets to take in the joys of our world. And you, Nira, thank you for breaking the ice."
Nira looked confused as he said the ice thing, pretty sure the ice had been pureed. ~oh well~ she thought ~not my place to correct~
Just as all that was occurring there was another shimmering of a transporter, Zenni Kahn materializing in the center of the dance floor decked out in khaki shorts with hiking boots and socks just over the top. Her top was a sleeveless khaki tunic, form fitting as it was pullover with a zipper on the front that went down to mid-cleavage. She had it zipped all the way down but her black sports bra prevented too much of an eyeful. "Hi, guys!" She smiled and walked in.
Lucas Jones took in the newcomer, a Trill with the spots he so loved. They went down the outsides of each of her thighs and calves and he knew they didn't end until they reached the heel. "And, you are?"
"Zenni Kahn, Mister Mayor." She shook hands and did give him a bit of eyes as he clasped her hand in his. "Ships Counselor and a dedicated science officer."
"I'll inform my crew, I know the science department is looking forward to coming down and I need to get my husband here, he's still on the ship. This place is so peaceful, reminds me a bit of my home planet," Cyndi commented.
Nira looked at Zenni. "How you come here?"
"Ensign Kirk beamed me down from the Nile. Once she hits atmo then she'll beam me up and we head for those awesome beaches. Until then I'm here to meet and greet."
Jones chuckled. "Miss Cyndi, your people are open to come and go, like I said. If they are warned to steer clear of certain buildings or areas, then please obey our mandates. And, yes, Miss Zenni, you have my permission to explore 'til your heart's content." He gave her a wink. "Maybe I'll come out with one of our jet boats. High powered, speedy and maneuverable, with scuba landings and hand holds."
"I'll keep that in mind, Mister Lucas." Zenni smiled.
Lucas then turned back to the other three. "This is all inland wetlands here. A close cousin to the Florida Everglades. And yes, there are some deadly reptiles in that there swamp. Some poisonous, some that'll just eat ya."
"That happens I can treat them," Kristian assured him You should know too that the commodore likes snakes, she has a pet snake on the ship so reptiles don't scare her."
"Just tell me what places are off limits and I'll make sure my people know it. Last thing we want to do is be someplace we shouldn't be," Cyndi said finishing her drink.
Jones gave a nod, his lighthearted expression still there but his smiles faded as he spoke with more emphasis to explain. "Even our own citizens aren't allowed some places unless they work there. You'll know when you approach a doorway or a gate into open land. If a red light pops up then you are not authorized. If green, you have entry. It's more for safety than anything else. Rasha can hear us from here so all that data is being sent to your ship to be passed on to visitors. This park is our Central Park, modeled after that in New York City, Same parameters, shape and landmarks."
"Well I for one am looking forward to some free time. I love my command but there are times when I just want to be a wife and a scientist and this will serve both for me. Nira what do you think of this place? I say shore leave can commence."
Nira gave a nod and looked very pleased to be here. "Rotate shore leave and let all enjoy. We need a full catalog of all the animals and plant species that may pose a threat to humanoids, so we know to avoid them."
"That too has been sent to your database," answered Jones. "It should all be available on your PADDs and tricorders. If you see an animal then you can scan it and figure out whether to run or stand your ground." He chuckled. "I'm not too proud to admit I've had my share of high tailin' it through the woods being chased by a critter I can only describe as some kind of bear. Furry, big, angry and relentless. I had to run and jump from a hundred foot cliff into the river below to escape it. Mucked my leg up for a few months but I didn't get eaten."
"How is your leg now?" Kristian asked "If it's bothering you I can take a look at it."
Cyndi tapped her com-badge "Commander Green shore leave approved. Time to enjoy this planet and those around it." Looking at Lucas "I thank you for your hospitality, the supplies will begin to arrive soon and if myself, my officers and crew can be of any assistance feel free to ask."
Lucas gave nods as he shook all their hands again, smiling with charm. "Feel free to explore wherever you want. We just ask you share whatever you find. Also, feel free to talk to anyone in town, you'll find we're quite open about things to certain people. Once you've had your fill of leave then we'll sit down and talk real business. Take care now." Jones gave a final bow from the neck, gathered his hat and shades, then swaggered off into the sunshine.
""We have the keys to the planet," said Zenni, all excited. "What the hell is taking Kirk so long?"
Nira chuckled. "Bring it down, Zenni, sheesh. She didn't use a transporter and getting clearance to leave can take a minute."
"This is what we need, especially you Cyndi," Kristian said "Let's get back to the ship, you get Paul and the two of you get some downtime. You've been through a lot."
"I agree," Cyndi said tapping her com-badge "Amandora beam us up."
Kahn watched as the others beamed out, looking at Nira. "I'm going to explore islands and ocean, wanna come?"
"No," said Nira. She seemed on edge, full of too much energy. "I smell the wild. Time to find worthy prey and feast in honor of this world. Fresh kill on open flame." She too got beamed up to go gather her bow, arrows and blades.
Kirk's voice piped in just as Nira finished disappearing. "Kirk to Kahn. Sorry for the wait but several small craft were leaving at once. We forget, Galaxies have civilians and they too want to put feet on a planet. Beaming you up now then we head for your target location." Within moments Zenni disappeared, beamed to the runabout USS Nile, to set off on her own adventure. Subconsciously she always felt her saber on her left hip, to know it was there and safe.
