Mission:
BUGS OH NO!!
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: current
ON:
Ainkara had left the Bridge and made her way the Deck 2, and Medical. Commander Green had informed her that she needed a physical for the ship's log, a necessity when serving Starfleet, and something that happened quarterly. There was no issue with that, even if she had been examined a few times before, knowing that those examinations had been for different reasons. Arriving at Sickbay she entered, and after a few paces inside came to a stop. The place was practically empty now, unlike before with all the wounded from the fighting.
A woman in Science blue/green came over. "May I help you, Crewman?"
"I am here for my mandatory physical for service," answered Ainkara. "Who do I speak to about that?"
"I'm sure Doctor Long will take care of that for you. She is in her office right over there." The woman with dark skin pointed over, and through a glass window Ainkara could see Doctor Long, whom she had already met previously.
"Thank you." Ainkara moved towards the office and seeing the door locked open decided to knock on the jam. The Doctor was reading from a PADD so the Voran woman waited to see if she had been heard.
Kristian hearing the knock looked up. Seeing Ainkara smiled. "Please come in and have a seat."
Ainkara entered the office and did as offered, sitting down with her back straight and not leaning back into the chair, hands clasped together over her lap. "Greetings, Doctor. I was informed by Commander Green that I need an official physical to be considered for active duty. If you are busy I can always step out and have another look to it."
"I'm not too busy. Things have settled down since the fighting. I read that your joining the ship. The commander is right a physical is mandatory. Let's head out to sick bay and we can get started," Kristian said getting to her feet
Ainkara stood and waited politely for the Doctor to pass her, then followed. When offered a biobed to sit side-saddle on, she did so, again with her spine ramrod straight like any other Vulcanoid would, but this time letting her hands rest next to her thighs, palm down on the surface of the bed. She was used to Silk, having gotten to know him better recently, but Doctor Long seemed to be just as dedicated, polite, and friendly.
Kristian pulled her medical tri-coder from the pocket of her lab coat and scanned Ainkara, "Anything I need to know about? I read Doctor Silk's report and records on you."
"Currently, I have nothing new to offer," admitted Ainkara. "Whatever happened with me on the Romulan ship seems to have passed, or simply gone away."
"What happened on that Romulan Ship?" Kristian asked "It may or may not be important. It could be important."
Ainkara had assumed Doctor Long had been informed by Silk. So, not wanting to seem suspicious she began to try and explain it the best she could. "In my left eye I had a...vision of something. That is the best way to describe it. A ring like a computer spindle appeared in my vision, and caused agony within my brain, similar to an extreme migraine. Doctor Silk had also seen it but out of respect for my past he kept it to himself and then asked me about it later. He made several efforts to detect anything odd, but nothing came of it. This circle, or spindle, as it was targeted on certain things, created a running, scrolling list of everything I looked at. Telling my brain what was what, what each item was called by many species. But, with all going on around us I can only assume it is still in his private notes."
"It's in your notes, I just wanted to double check," Kristian said smiling "I don't think it will happen again but if it does please tell one of us. Other than that your perfectly healthy. If everyone was as healthy as you the commodore would not need me,"
For the first time since the day started Ainkara gave a grin. "I appreciate that, Doctor Long. I do try and stay as fit as my body will allow without damaging it."
"As do I, I work out as often as my schedule permits and I usually spar with my cousin or a family friend who is aboard," Kristian said "My friends call me Kristian or Kris."
Ainkara gave a nod. "I find it pleasing that you trust me enough to address you common. Thank you."
Kristian smiled "I've never been one to stand on titles. And your welcome. There is a time and a place for ranks and titles. I'm just Kristian or as I said Kris. Some call me both."
"So it is for me." Said Ainkara. "Title and rank is fine in certain settings but most of the time my name will suffice."
"I cannot agree more, there is a time and a place for titles and ranks. Especially on the bridge," Kristian said "The only time I push it in here is when I have to."
Ainkara got to her feet. "Thank you, Kris, for the physical and the conversation. It is nice to find a new friend. But, I need to find and set up my lab for my duties to come. Have a pleasant day." With that said Ainkara gave a slight bow from the neck. "Until we speak again." And, off she went.
