Mission:
BUGS OH NO!!
Location: main shuttlebay
Timeline: current/somewhere in between
ON:
Having had their fill of Rigo IV, the USS Euphrates and her crew had returned to the starbase Pegasus, and their mothership, Amandora. Careful to avoid any of the workbees buzzing around Amandora, Kirk brought the runabout into the main shuttle bay and landed it in its designated spot. Everyone got up and gathered their belongings, stepping off the craft and leaving the hatch open for Kirk's people to go aboard and start maintenance.
"So good to be home," said Green. "Rigo was nice but I just needed to chill after the Tuuran issue."
"Yeah," said Silk, and that was it. He did not care to discuss it any further, ever, if he did not have to. But, then, out of the echoing expanse of the shuttle bay came a shouted word, dragged out in a child's voice.
"Daddy!!!"
Sean's eyes went to that call, seeing a three feet tall version of his mate running at him with all due speed, arms open wide for an incoming hug. Dropping his bag and then himself to a knee he opened his arms and caught the little Puazi as she rammed into him and grabbed him like she would never let go. Instantly Silk burst into tears as he held his daughter, all his anger, sorrow and anxiety disappearing in that embrace. Out from around another shuttle came Nira and Ainkara, both smiling ear to ear over how Sera had reacted to seeing her father. Silk got to his feet as his mate approached, his daughter still clinging to his leg.
"I see you," he said, with all the love he could muster, then unabashedly he and Nira kissed deeply, with Sera wrapping an arm around both their legs in a family embrace.
Green and the others all stood flabbergasted, not expecting to return to this since Nira had said she would meet them on Rigo. But, obviously, she had had other ideas. "Now this is a damn fine welcome home!"
"Hell yeah," Marcus agreed. "Look at her, a spitting image of her mother, and cute as a bug's ear."
Kirk could just stand and smile, avoiding putting her eyes on the two kissers, who were still going. "Is she part Orion? That kiss is lasting a minute."
Green laughed. "No, dear. She is Puazi, and they could give Orions a run for their latinum in the carnal department. Trust me, I know from personal experience."
Resch looked at his XO. "Really? How personal are we talking?"
Silk and Nira broke their kiss and stepped apart, with Sean picking up his daughter and lifting her onto his shoulders. "Personal enough that I know what Ro's ass looks like naked," he gave a wink and smile to Green, showing he was kidding, but feeding the fire of curiosity.
"It's just an ass," said Ro, returning the grin. "That lavender tush is just as fine."
"Better," stated Sean. The group laughed.
Kirk and Resch got moving as the others stood talking.
Ainkara stood quietly to the side, with Green stepping over near to her. "Greetings, Ainkara. I take it you and Nira have become friends?"
"We have, Commander."
"I'm not listed as on duty yet, Ainkara. It's okay to call me Ro."
Ainkara gave an embarrassed grin. "I know, but I am a crewman. My place in Starfleet means a lot, so I do not want to make mistakes. As I told Lieutenant Zolon, it is my desire to become an officer and I cannot afford mishaps."
Green gave a nod. "Understandable. However, we can and do address each other common, when circumstances allow. The best officers, by the way, are those who know how to relax and focus all at the same time. Too rigid, failure. Too slack, failure. Keep that in mind. You are a full member of Starfleet right now, had you said something earlier then we could have made you a cadet, not a crewman. Is that what you seek?"
The two of them began to move away, letting Nira and Sean be with their daughter and catch up. If anyone needed that, deserved that, it was Doctor Silk.
"I do," answered Ainkara as they began to move.
"The Admiral did offer that, but I think you were distracted by the thought that he had said yes to begin with." Ro looked over at the woman, looking her in the eyes with all due seriousness. "I will make it happen. Let me get a hot shower and a change of clothes and I will see to it."
"You have my gratitude, Ro. Truly. I...I have no words to..."
Green raised a hand to stop her from trying to formulate whatever it was she was going to say, then placing the hand on her shoulder when she stopped trying to speak. "No, Ainkara. I need to thank you for being as dedicated as you are. That means I need to match your efforts with my own, to equal out the give and take." After that got said the smile returned and they got moving again.
Back at the runabout Nira, Sera and Sean were all still talking a mile a minute, with Silk hefting his daughter up onto his shoulders for a ride through the ship. She giggled and laughed as they went, Nira taking up his bag and walking along, occasionally reaching out and giving tickle pokes to her daughter's side, causing a squeal of laughter each time. And, not being shy, Sera would wave at passersby and say hi, doing her best to make friends like her mother. Plus, being with her father was beyond epic, it was brilliant!
