Mission:
BUGS OH NO!!
Location: Bridge
Timeline: current
ON:
Lieutenant Kirk entered the Bridge from the starboard lift, coming out to the right of the FC station. Green and Song were in their chairs going over their reports, and there were others here who were on station for Alpha shift, some faces she knew, others not so much. With every port call there was always a transfer of personnel leaving Amandora, and those coming aboard as replacements.
"Commodore, Commander, I received a message from Starfleet Command and the Strategic Operations Division. According to the report Jupiter Station was set upon internally and the perpetrators were able to get away with an inordinate amount of Starfleet data from the memory banks." Taking a few breaths, Kirk continued. "The three cruisers around Jupiter at all times detected nothing. No cloaked vessels, no transporter signals, nada. With the way the message was sent out, encoded, I can only surmise that HQ is worried there may be more sympathizers within the fleet."
Green had sat listening, stunned by what she heard as Kirk laid it out. How was this possible? And, who could pull off such an operation? Her PADD was put aside and she got to her feet as Kirk finished speaking.
Commander O'Connell was at Tactical checking to make sure the Base repair Crews hadn't mucked around with the functions of his Station; it was better to check now than when the Ship was in crisis. O'Connell overheard what Lieutenant Kirk had just told Command.....this couldn't be good.
Kirk went on since no one had asked anything as of yet, waiting to see what else she had to say. "Among those responsible were Starfleet personnel. People who have served for many years and were trusted enough to be assigned. They gave access to the mainframe to the invaders and then exited with them. In my opinion, Commodore April is being cautious on this, and why the message was posted as incoming, rather than a red flag. If there were collaborators then it stands to reason that more of these people may be positioned throughout the fleet. That is purely conjecture, but it fits the narrative."
Green had finally gotten passed her surprise enough to speak. "This is all we know right now? I will contact HQ on a coded channel and see if there is more. Good on you for bringing this to us, Lieutenant. As of now I relinquish Strategic Operations to you, as Chief, not acting chief. Computer, so note change in the ship's logs." There was that warble sound as the computer responded and did as instructed, without speaking. "Whether Amandora gets involved, or not, I want you to keep tabs on this and keep the rest of us informed."
"Aye, Sir," answered Kirk. "I will."
"We can't take a chance that this information is not true, I know Commodore April and he's not one to do something without a valid reason," Cyndi said "What's the status of repairs? Are we good to get underway?"
"Mister Dorox has been leading maintenance teams," answered Green, looking to her CO. "Cadet Ainkara is with him, doing her part to further her training. As for any repairs, yes, Commodore, we are fully operational. All that remains is the maintenance and minor glitches that need to be seen to in non-essential systems."
Kirk looked over at O'Connell, and once he found her eyes on him she used a finger to subtly tap her PADD, then gave a slight nodding chin movement to let him know through her pantomime that he would receive the full message, and report, on the Jupiter incident. As Security Chief he needed to remain in the loop. All this was done so as not to interrupt the dual headed hydra as they spoke between themselves.
"Communications recall the crew who have not yet reported aboard, they have thirty minutes to report," Cyndi ordered "Engineering bring engines on line."
With the Commodore now in command and giving orders, Green turned to Jim. "Thank you, Mister Kirk, for your report. Maintain an ear on this. You may return to your duties."
"Aye, Sir," said Kirk. With the ship now gearing up to depart Pegasus Kirk wanted to get back to her secondary duty of seeing to the small craft. She left the Bridge with Cosmo rolling along behind her. He had been there the entire time but no one spoke to him so he remained still. Now, with Kirk going to do something he could help with, he followed on her heels.
The USS Amandora was getting ready to leave starbase Pegasus, orders given to do so. Whatever was going on at Jupiter was far away, but there could be connections found anywhere as the ship returned to its patrols and explorations.
