Cyndi walked from the lounge and made her way to her ready room. Upon entering Hank turned to face her with a big grin on his face. “I take it I surprised you?”

“Permission to speak freely?” Cyndi asked going by the book

“Since when do you need permission?” Hank asked “But permission granted. What’s on your mind Cyndi.”

“How the hell did you get on my ship without my knowing about it and secondly what the hell is the idea of the commodore promotion?” Cyndi asked

“To answer the question on how I got aboard, I came out on a long range shuttle and beamed over. Your transporter operator had strict instructions from me not to let you know I had arrived. I came aboard in civilian attire and had already secured guest quarters. They were secured before your ship even launched,” Hank said “In answer to your question about the commodore promotion. Cyndi I wanted to promote you to commodore when I gave you this command but I knew it was too soon. You’re a hell of a teacher and I’ve been watching your reports and you’re a hell of a captain and it was not fair to hold you back,” Hank said

“And I suppose there is no changing your mind in this?” Cyndi asked even though she knew the answer

“No, it’s a done deal,” Hank replied “Accept it Cyndi, I know it’s a lot to take in right now.”

“I also will have orders for you in a few days. Until then I’ll be aboard,” Hank said

“Regulations require I turn over command to the most senior officer and that Admiral Snow is you,” Cyndi replied

“They do, but I don’t want you to turn over command to me. This is your ship, and your crew They know you. I have no desire to take command. Everything will be explained in a few days. In the meantime it’s business as usual,” Hank commented “Let’s meet for dinner later.”

“I’d like that Hank and thank you for this even if I don’t want it,” Cyndi said “But now I have a ship who needs me. Not that I need to tell you but your free to mingle with my officers and crew. Or remain on the bridge, I have no second officer so that seat is vacant.”

“I think I’ll stay on the bridge for a bit. It’s been a long time since I had the chance to sit on the bridge of a starship as a guest,” Hank responded

Cyndi led the way to the bridge and accepted several PADD’s from her yeoman and took her seat, Hank took the seat to her left.
