Mission: Vanished
Location: various
Timeline: Current

ON:

Going down to marine country, Barnes had had a list of eight names on his palm PADD, handing it to Jacobs when he arrived, sending the Lance Corporal out to gather them. They were the marines Jack had become most familiar with since coming aboard, and the ones he trusted to do their jobs right and not expect directions every every minute of every hour. A marine who can't think on their feet is a dead marine, his father always used to say. After gathering the group they all went to the EV room and donned their suits and gear, each with a backpack. On their equipment belts they had their K-bars and pistols, but also a fireman's hatchet for each of them as a cutting tool as well as a prybar if needed. Each marine filled a frame pack with their standard duty uniforms so that when the threat of contagion was over they could remove the suits and be more flexible. Once geared up the group left the berth and headed up to transporter room three.

Upon arriving they found Cadet Ainkara all suited up in her own EV suit, the Starfleet EV suit as well armored as that of the marines. Some people needed to learn that just because they were Starfleet did not mean their equipment was not badass. She was all geared up and also had a backpack filled with extra equipment and standard clothing. "Well met, Cadet. You sure you're ready for this?"

"Absolutely, Chief," stated Ainkara. This was what the Iconians had trained her for. "Once aboard we need to access the computer core to see if there is anything off with the programming. An invasive algorithm would wreak havoc on standard systems."

Jacobs, being a slicer and electronics expert, gave nods of agreement. "She's got a point, Chief. To take over a whole base that would be the in." In his backpack he carried a slicer's kit with its own dedicated PADD for overriding electronics such as door locks and what not. If something failed it was his job to run a bypass to gain access.

"Got it. When Kirk signals she's ready we all beam aboard and head over." Barnes Explained. "When we're over there marines, stay frosty. Just because it appears empty doesn't mean it is. Keep your wits about you and play it close to the chest." They all acknowledged that in their own way. "Cadet, you stick by Jacobs, here. Between the two of you maybe we can find some answers. Lance Corporal Jacobs, I'm field promoting you to Corporal for this mission. You're my Second on this."

"Aye, Chief," said Jacobs, his face serious.

Once the USS Euphrates was prepped and ready, Kirk called the Bridge to let them know. Once the command deck heard that she was given permission to launch. Once outside the Amandora and in position she sent word. "Amandora, Kirk here. In position and awaiting the away team."

Green, standing on the Bridge, spoke back. "Acknowledged, Kirk." She tapped her badge. "Transporter room three, beam your party to the Euphrates when ready." The transporter acknowledged and after a few moments announced that the Team Bravo had been beamed over. "Team Bravo," asked Green.

The transporter operator came back. "That's what Chief Barnes designated his team, Commander. Something about the word base starting with a B, so they were Bravo team."

"Thank you, Ensign," said Green, smiling to herself at that. With attitudes like that then this whole mission should go well, aside from all the missing people.

Over on USS Euphrates Barnes and his marines all materialized in the aft section. "Get comfy, people. Jacobs, Ainkara, let's go up front." The three of them went forward to be met by looks over the shoulders of both Kirk and another human female. The ensign in the co-pilot seat was striking, with a darker hue to her skin tone. "Ladies," said Barnes with a nod to them both. Jacobs, Ainkara, take the other two seat up front." Jack put himself at the standing console behind the forward four-seat cockpit area.

"Welcome aboard Euphrates, folks," said Kirk with a cheeky smile. "Thank you for travelling Federated Aerospace Lines. This is Ensign Jazmin Al-Sahir, your co-pilot for this evening."

"Hello," said Al-Sahir, smiling at her Supervisor's sense of humor.

The three gave their own greetings and then set to work in aiding the with flight control and other systems. Barnes was damn proud of Jacobs, the young man was obviously a prodigy when it came to electronics. What the marines did not understand, which Jack found amusing, was that technically, Ainkara outranked them all. Her Cadet rate made her a midshipman, and that put her above any enlisted rank. However, Ainkara had not said a word so she either did not know that herself or was unconcerned with it. "Once the fighters do their sweep of the area, Kirk, is that when we move in?"

"It is," responded Kirk. "I'll get to transporter range and halt, beaming you over. But, this is a runabout, so it will be two people at a time." She chinned to behind Jack, and when he looked he saw the two-person transporter pad.

"Got it. Ainkara, it will be you and I first. Jacobs, you follow up in the order you choose."

Jacobs and Ainkara both acknowledged. Everyone waited to hear from the fighters, or Amandora, to proceed forward.
