#44 Vanished

Mission:
Vanished
Location: USS Amandora
Timeline: current
ON:
Commander Green sat in her chair on the Bridge, casually reading over the ship department reports, as well as, the reports coming in from Starbase 154. The Commodore had gone down to meet with a new officer arriving. Odd that Starfleet would allow a ship to drop off crew while they were still in mid-mission, but she did not question that. As nothing had been sent to HQ as of yet, in regards to all the strange events, it stood to reason that they assumed all was well with the Amandora.
Out of nowhere she got a twinge from her belly. Using the Force she focused it on the twins in her womb, brother and sister having been quite complacent and not kicking the devil out of her bladder. But, this twinge, and their sudden shifting about, seemed odd. With Sense on high her feelings told her that the twinge was a matter of urgency. That the twins were sensing something she was not. She lay her left hand on her belly, sending a calming wave to her unborn children, letting them feel that she would keep them safe and look into matters. As she did that an image appeared in her mind. An image of Dwight. The children were anxious about their father for some reason, and that feeling poured out and into Ro, telling her something was amiss with their progenitor. Green got to her feet and tossed the PADD back onto her seat. "Marcus, you have the Conn." She rushed from the Bridge using the starboard lift.
Resch responded as she said that, "Aye, Sir." He did note the urgency with which she left, finding that kind of action uncharacteristic of his Number One.
Green entered the lift and tapped her badge, having seen the Commodore and the new officer entering the Ready Room. "Green to Nira."
"Nira, here. Go ahead, Commander."
"Meet me at my quarters, ASAP!" Ro stepped off the lift at the appropriate deck, speed walking towards her cabin. As she came around the bend in the corridor she spotted Nira's Eldritch Magick portal open up and the Chief stepping out, with her daughter Sera at her side. They were both dressed in their traditional black bikini-style outfits, and sporting their swords, daggers and bows. It was apparent that Nira had been training her daughter again in the holodecks. For Sera, Green noted that the child was now the size of a Human roughly 12-13 years old. As Nira had said, she was growing fast.
"Ro," said Nira, coming in to stand with her friend and XO at her door. "What's the matter?"
"Bad things, Mama," said Sera.
Both adults looked back and down at the girl, who was a spitting image of her mother, before Green looked back to Nira. "The children sense danger for their father. I need to make sure he is okay." Green unhooked her saber hilt from her belt, holding it in hand but not igniting the blade. Nira put a hand on one of her dagger hilts, ready to enter. Sera, for her part, brought her bow to the ready and nocked an arrow.
"If they hurt Dwight, they die!" Sera exclaimed.
Ro was now solidly convinced that all the warrior training Nira was putting Sera through was paying off. The girl had no fear of a confrontation and her words proved she was not afraid to kill when necessary. Green stepped forward and the door sensed her presence, sliding open. The main room was quiet, the lights on within as she and Dwight liked them; multiple soft lights that provided adequate illumination. "Nira, you check the baby room," which was the extra room, which Ro chinned towards. "Sera, watch our backs." She herself went to the bedroom, the door locked open as always, looking within. The bathroom and bedroom were neatly cleaned up, bed made, with no sign of any use for several hours. "Dwight!"
Nira checked the baby room, seeing the remodeling Green had done for her young ones, the bassinets and what not, but no sign of Dwight Bachman. She turned to look back at Ro, shaking her head. Sera, deciding to put her bow and arrow away, stood with a hand on one of her own hilts.
Green angled her face skyward. "Computer, location of Dwight Bachman."
"Civilian crew member, Dwight Bachman, is currently showing to be in the arboretum."
"Computer, site-to-site transport for the three of us to the arboretum," ordered Green. All three were whisked away and reappeared in the large, internal greenhouse/park. Green tapped her badge. "Green to Bachman, respond."
Sera and Nira both had their ears waving around, trying to discern anything that could tell them where he might be. "That way," said Sera, pointing to a group of trees by the creek, moving that way just as Nira agreed. Both adults followed the girl and pushed their way through the foliage to find no one there. But, there on the grass, was a combadge sitting next to the stream. Green squatted as she hooked her saber to her belt, not touching the device in case of investigative contamination. "Don't tell me Amandora is now going to suffer what those others suffered." Standing back up she looked at the Chief. "Nira, Security lockdown of the Arboretum. Cordon off this area and begin an immediate investigation. Make sure to get readings for me and Sera, head to foot, to not confuse any data gathered."
"Will do, Number One," said Nira, tapping her own badge as she walked off, relaying that she needed a Security team in the arboretum on the double. With that done she then went to anyone within the chamber and had them all go over by the exits and wait, so they could be scanned and released once they were eliminated as suspects. From what she had read from the starbase reports, Nira was sure that the crew had nothing to do with this. But, protocols demanded she look into every possibility.
"I sorry, Auntie," Sera said, stepping in and giving Green a warm hug, holding her to comfort her.
Green hugged back for a few moments, thanking the girl. She then got them both to move from the area the same way they had entered, and they both sat on the grass, up the knoll, to await the investigative team. The Force could not sense Dwight anywhere. The children were right. Something had happened to him, and by the way they were shifting about in her womb, told her that they too had lost their sense of him. But, she remained strong, feeding that positive energy to the twins so they would calm and relax, knowing their mother would see to all. After about five minutes a team of Security officers showed up, scanning them both from head to toe, then releasing them. Green got up and dusted off her bum, doing the same to Sera, even though the girl was old enough to do it herself. A motherly instinct she found curious, letting her know that her own paternal traits were beginning to show.
Sera giggled and gave a whisper. "You touched my butt."
Ro scrunched her face in humor, then decided to leave the girl a juicy nugget with a wicked grin. "I've touched your mother's butt many times. Maybe you should ask her about it." She then walked away to leave the girl perplexed over what that even meant. Green was, internally, cracking up despite her outward, stoic appearance. She and Nira had been intimate for a time, forming an unbreakable bond while doing so. A bond which was now stronger than permacrete and one that had them thinking of each other as sisters. She had to laugh, because sometimes things were going so badly all one could do was laugh. And, right now, things were terribly bad for Ro on a personal level, but her duty-minded self would not allow her to show her consternation to the crew. Allowing Nira to do her job without interference would yield answers, and then she could act. For now, she had to let Cyndi know that the Amandora was seemingly under the same strange happenings as the ships and facility they were looking into.
