Location: USS Amandora
Timeline: current
ON:
Ro had taken Miss Sheyla to her quarters to drop off her bag and then proceeded back up to Sickbay level, tapping her combadge as they stepped out of the lift on Deck 7. "Green to Song. Commodore, could you meet me in Sickbay? Nothing serious, just a new arrival I would like to meet both you and Long." The women kept walking, albeit slowly, waiting for the CO to come back with a response.
Cyndi tapped her com-badge "On my way commander, I'll be there in a few minutes," Cyndi walked from her quarters pulling her hair back into a ponytail as she went and arrived in sick bay a few minutes later. Seeing Ro and an officer in medical blue walked over just as Kristian walked from her office. "Commander, doctor.
Krisitan gave her CO a look but said nothing as this was not the time.
Resch, having been seeing to a replicator in Sickbay, looked up when the gaggle of females began to cloister together.
Green came to a stop, addressing her guest in tow, and Andorian woman in Science blue. "Lieutenant Sheyla, this is Commodore Cyndi Song, our Commanding Officer. Next to her is our Chief Medical Officer, Doctor Kristian Long. And that gentleman over their," she chinned towards Marcus, whom she had spotted eyeing them. "That is Lieutenant Marcus Resch, our Operations Manager."
Seeing he was included, and finished with his work, Marcus came over and shook hands. "A pleasure, Lieutenant Sheyla."
"And, to you, Mister Resch."
"Welcome to the Amandora lieutenant," Cyndi greeted
"He's our fixer," Kristian joked "Seriously he does a good thing,"
"Awww, Y'all are gonna make me blush," quipped Resch, giving a grin to back it up.
Green grinned along with him. "I just wanted all of you to meet since she was headed this way anyhow. Also, Captain Silk and Nira are off on another extended vacation, and we needed more in Medical as it stood. Ainkara left with Kirk's shuttle for Earth, to actually attend the Academy. She says she wanted to experience the experience."
"I still have people I keep in touch with from my Academy days," said Marcus. "Can't blame her for wanting to feel the entirety of the Academy, not just be told she passed."
"I'll miss Silk and Nira," Cyndi commented "I can see Ainkara wanting to attend the academy, she'll do well there."
"I enjoyed my academy time. Had fun giving one my my teachers a hard time," Kristian said "Well worth it though."
Resch gave a coughing-clearing throat sound, and spoke low into his fist. "I gave an instructor a hard time, too. Why I got such good grades in that class." He bunched up and waited for the slug to his shoulder, which he got from Green.
"Marcus!" Ro said in a pseudo-angry tone, her grin unable to be doused. "You are so horrible!"
Sheyla watched the interplay between them. She was going to like it here. "If he was horrible, Commander, I'm sure he would not have passed." She kept her face poker straight.
"Haha, she's on my side, neener-neener," Resch said, sticking his tongue out at Green.
"Like you need any more encouragement," said Green, backhanding his arm one last time for good measure.
"I gave them fits, mum's a marine and dad's a captain in Star Fleet. They thought I should be a marine like mum and others said I should be like dad and to officers school. Medicine won," Kristian replied
"I think we all gave our teachers a hard time, I hold a teaching license and I've had students giving me a hard time," Cyndi said "I can tell stories."
"I'm sure they would be good stories," offered Sheyla, now feeling like the odd-one out amongst friends. "I am also slotted as a Tactical Officer, if you lot need to fill a slot there, as well."
"Some time I'll tell you what some of my students pulled on me," Cyndi replied "Our diplomatic chief/assistant science chief is qualified to pilot a fighter. Relax lieutenant your among friends here."
"We just came off a rough mission and we all need a few good laughs. You'll find our commodore is a work a holic,"Kristian said "I'm looking forward to working with you."
"Filling in a tactical will come in handy as well," Cyndi said "I'll mark that in your file. Doctor Long has a medical shuttle when needed."
Sheyla merely nodded along to each person, done in a way so as to be engaging not dismissive. There was a lot coming at her at once but Sheyla rode the wave well. "Thank you, all of you. As I adjust and settle in things will become easier, I'm sure."
"I better log this unit as maintained or my people will be down here at 3am trying to figure shit out," said Resch, rolling his eyes. "Good to meet you, Sheyla." He glanced at the clock then his eyes came back to the Andorian. "It's happy hour in an hour. Hope to see you at the bar. Ladies." Marcus nodded to the others, his way of waving goodbye as he exited.
"Commodore why don't you and your husband join us all. You above all need a break. You've hardly left the bridge," Kristian said "There are others who can cover the bridge and they'll contact you if your needed."
As the 'friends' spoke amongst themselves Sheyla slowly moved away, getting further and further as she noted where everything was by sight. She could hear them all quite well, what with Sickbay being empty except for staff, and most of them were reading or setting up capsules of meds for the hypos. She finally made her way back, her antenna being a clear indication of her own excitement and contentment. They waved back and forth in small, clipped movements, and the 'cups' were facing more forward. "Commodore, if I may. Any time you need it just ask. I am a tactical officer, which comes with command training for taking the CONN should I need to do so."
"Trust me when I say I'll take you up on it," Cyndi said smiling at her. "But today it's getting used to the ship, getting settled and having fun. As I tell all of my officers you need me my door is open. My husband is used to my command style."
Sheyla gave a bowing nod. "Good to hear. But, speaking of getting settled, I need to unpack before I go meet Mister Resch for the welcome aboard drink. Thank you all." With a nod to the group Sheyla departed.
Green gave a grin. "I think she'll work out fine. With Silk gone, you needed another physician in here, Kris. Also, I'll need a physical when you have time. I had the twins removed and placed In Vitro within the hive. Dwight's request that his children stay with him so I agreed."
"Be here at 08:00 and I'll do it," Kristian said
"And would like to know why that was done as well," Cyndi replied "And where Dwight is. We can discuss it in the morning."
"Dwight and my children are Federation citizens, not Starfleet. He made a choice as their father, I agreed. There is nothing to discuss. They were removed and put in vitro with the greatest of care." Green explained.
Cyndi nodded "Fair enough. I'll try to get us back in the future so you can see him and your twins."
"That would be nice, thanks." Green said. "If nothing else I can always take Euphrates and visit while we're on a mediocre mapping mission or something. Anyway, I gotta scoot. Thanks for coming down, Cyndi. You gals have a good evening." Having seen to her duties, Ro turned and walked away.
"Get some rest and don't make me make it an order Cyndi, your tired and it shows," Kristian said
"I plan to," Cyndi said
"See you do," Kristian said firmly
