Kalina had received a communique from Commodore Song to report to the bridge. She had just placed her things in her quarters, when I request came in. Kalina was a little surprise at the Commodore knew she was already on board. She wasted little time heading up to the bridge.
When she got to the bridge one of the crew members told her to head to the ready room. Apparently the Commodore was waiting on her. Kalina tapped on the intercom just outside the ready room.
"Come in," Cyndi called as she sent the report off and a message to Rayven telling her the good news about Brisco. After realizing her error with the operations officer Cyndi was determined not to make that mistake again.
Kalina was a little nervous, as walk through the doors as they door swished open and she walked through immediately headed to the commodore's desk. She snapped to the position of attention. "Lieutenant Junior Grade Kalina Johnson reporting is ordered."
"At ease lieutenant, relax I don't bite," Cyndi said smiling and nodding to her replicator "Help yourself to something to drink and then have a seat."
"I'm good, but thank you for the offer Ma'am." Kalina said as she took a seat, making sure her posture was firm and erect.
"Have you managed to find your quarters? If not I can have someone show you as this is a big ship and easy to get lost on. Heck I did it when I first got the command I got so turned around I ended up in the refuse area," Cyndi said laughing at her error
"Yes with the help of of a new friend." Kalina said, then she paused before continuing on. "It is a big ship. I won't lie it's going to take me a little bit to get used to the Amandora."
"It is a big ship," Cyndi admitted "You can always ask the computer to show you the way or you can ask someone for help as well as your new friend. The day will come when things will just fall into place and you'll wonder why it was so hard."Tag
"Yes Captain, I'll keep that in mind." Kalina said wondering deep down there on thoughts why the hell would you do that? Pressing the computer in her mind with the thing they did in the 60s, she was a capable person she knew she'd be able to figure it out eventually.
"Have you had the chance to take helm yet?" Cyndi asked "If you'd like to take the day off to get used to the ship feel free."
"I haven't been on the ship more than an hour, in that time of actually talked to three people you being the third. I barely found my quarters when you called me to the bridge." Kalina Johnson said with a warm smile. She was going to fall for that trap she was going to let the captain decide if she needed to be on the bridge or take the day off.
Cyndi returned the smile, "Take the day off to get used to the ship. Just relax for the day."
"That's most generous Commodore Song, thank you." Kalina said with a warm smile. She was not going to waste a moment of the Commodore's generosity.
"That's usually how I treat new officers, this is a big ship and people need to get used to it," Cyndi said
"Thank you, I really do appreciate it." Kalina said, thinking to herself this is too good to be true.
"Your more than welcome," Cyndi said smiling.
"May I ask a personal question, Commodore?" Kalina asked, she was not sure if he was appropriate the COC friendlier than the XO, not saying that the XO wasn't friendly it's just very direct and to the point.
"You may ask any personal questions that you'd like," Cyndi responded
"is there a particular spot on this ship, a place everyone likes to hang out in? I'm looking to meet new friends; I met a nice lady just a little bit ago. But I am interested in meeting other people as well." Selena said as she thought about her encounter with Tara. she was really hinting, where the men were at on the ship? She did see the blonde boy but Tara seems like she was interested in him so she wanted to find someone else.
"Ten forward or the lounge both are good places to meet people and there rank is pretty much off the table as it's a place to go to relax. Who have you met so far?" Cyndi asked.
"Your chief diplomatic officer." Kalina said, trying to keep everything professional and by the book. She did like that yeah Frank not mattering in the lounge but right now they weren't in the land they were in the CO's ready room.
"Tara Herculoid, she's a good officer and doubles as assistant chief science officer. She's a little on the stubborn end. She dosen't have many friends outside of Captain Rivers and Doctor Long," Cyndi commented
"You know a lot about your staff don't you? I think that is great. To Kalina it showed she cared.
Cyndi nodded "My officers and crew I consider them family. My door is always open if I'm needed when I'm off the bridge."
"That's good to know, and I think that's pretty cool." Kalina said with the big grin on her face.
"That's how I feel, after all where would I be without each and everyone one of you? I'd not have a ship to command. I am married and my husband understand my command style and he encourages it. He like me feel that the commanding officer is not above his or her crew," Cyndi said
She wanted to ask her The Commodores husband was on the ship but she felt like that might have been a too personal of a question. And they just met each other, so for the moment she decided not to ask.
Kalina sat there in the chair for a moment, and then her eyes started to glaze around the room. She was stalling for time trying to figure out what to say next. After a couple moment she ask. "I'm looking forward to your getting to know your command style and becoming a part of this crew. This family that you have built."
"As am I," Cyndi replied standing and offering her hand "Welcome aboard again."
"Thank you Commodore, I assume my ten minutes is up?" Kalina said with a big grin.
“It is and remember my door is always open. Dismissed,” Cyndi said Smiling
