Post Number 182 Updating The XO

Posted on Fri Sep 15th, 2023 @ 10:05pm by Commodore Cyndi Song & Captain Rogue Green {Meji}

Mission: Wedding Blues And Trouble
Location: Ready Room

ON:

Cyndi had returned to her ready room after making sure the bridge staff were okay. Her crew had been through quite a bit as of late, Walking into her ready room Cyndi waited for Ro to arrive. As far as she was concerned Green was the best first officer in the fleet.

Upon arrival to the Bridge, Green looked over at Ensign Jazmin. "The Commodore?"

"In her Ready Room, Sir."

"Thank you." With that said Green walked to the Ready Room door, which opened upon approach so she strode within, hearing the door hiss shut behind her. "Good afternoon, Cyndi. I take it we have a plan?" She gave a grin as she sat down and leaned back comfortably in a chair.

"I hope so, it appears we have a new species that is not Federation and are on the way to Cardassia for a wedding that the bride is from what I understand not happy and she's a Princess. Herculoid was able to decipher the language. I spoke to a Dorboss who filled me in more on this upcoming wedding. We're on the way but at warp one," Cyndi said.

"Did we clear the trip with Starfleet, Commodore?" Green had to ask. No one just crossed into the Cardassian Union and stood on the doorstep waiting to be acknowledged. "I mean, they won't just let us roll up to Cardassia Prime and demand a meeting. And, warp one is slow, but we are on the fringes in the Alpha Quadrant. If we were in the Beta Quadrant we would have to cross the entirety of the UFP to get there."

"I have a missive into command as we speak and am waiting a response. Last thing I want is an issue with Cardassia Prime," Cyndi replied. "There are Cardassians in the sleeper pods and Long is getting ready to wake everyone up there is also a deceased Cardassian in the morgue as well. I've not had her do an autopsy as I don't want to offend the Cardassians."

Ro thought on that a moment. "Did anyone happen to notice if the Cardassians were military, with badges and such to denote service? If not, we may get lucky and they were a science team helping these others with the trip. I could have a look at them and see if they wear badges or insignia denoting which Order they serve in, and rank."

"I didn't see anything and if there were some neither Doctor Long or Lieutenant Herculoid mentioned it. But according to what Dorboss told us this marriage is an arranged one and the bride he said is less than happy," Cyndi commented.

"Gotta love when people use other people as currency," Ro said cynically. Shaking that off she got back on track. "We're down a Security Chief. With this situation we need one. I put an acting chief engineer in place since Dora is falling behind on her spa treatments. If you don't mind, Cyndi, I was going to give the position back to Nira, for now. She is the most qualified for Security Chief." Green did not feel like discussing some uppity, arrogant princess type.

"Arranged marriages are barbaric, I'm glad my dad put a stop to it when he came to power," Cyndi remarked "Good choice on Nira, she knows the ship and I trust her. We're going to need heavy security for this. If we don't have enough security personal get the marines and even Rivers if need be. General Long is aboard. She's here to promote Major Hurd, she's staying with Rivers and is dressed as a first lieutenant,"

"An interesting way to approach a promotion," said Green. "But, he has been rather...aloof these days. Is there a reason why she is coming all of a sudden? I hadn't heard about any promotion until now."

"She's been aboard for a few months she just wanted to observe the major. I put a request in for him to be a Lieutenant Colonel and the general contacted me right away stating she wanted to be aboard and undercover. I have no problem with it. I offered VIP quarters for her and she declined and asked to bunk with Rivers. So Narla is here. Outside of the two of us she's only known to Paul, Alesha, Kristian and Tara. She wants to keep it that way," Cyndi commented "Technically she does out rank me."

"I see," Green responded. "Her secret is safe with me. You do realize that any marine worth their weight will know who she is on sight, or has she totally changed her appearance?"

"Kristian has seen to that, Narla resembles a Vulcan and I confess she pulls it off well," Cyndi said.

"Interesting choice." Green went to say something else and stopped, a rush of CORE energy washing over her like a cold breeze, like when one opens a freezer in a warm kitchen. "I..." Whatever was going to come forth after that stopped and Green reached out with the Core, trying to Sense what it was that it was trying to tell her. She got a flash in her mind, a vision of Ainkara. Battered, bloody, beaten and filthy. "Ainkara," Ro said in a quiet, firm tone. The mention of Vulcans had made her realize she had not heard from her apprentice. She sat up straight in her chair, placing her hands on the arms as if she was going to push herself to her feet, but hesitated.

"Ro what is is? You said Ainkara, what are you sensing?" Cyndi asked.

"I Sense she's in danger," Ro said. "Cosmo is with her but they are not on Earth, nor anywhere near it. Something must have happened on the way. I have no doubts that Kirk is involved." It took all her willpower, but Green remained seated, though anxious. She took a breath in through the nose and let it out slowly to calm herself. "Whatever is happening, I hope her training will pull her through since I have no idea where she is. It will take meditation to unravel the mystery."

"Try to find out where she is and if we can we'll get her rescued and Kirk brought to justice," Cyndi said firmly "The charges against Kirk are stiff and she'd die rather than make it to Earth. Cosmo won't let anything happy to badly to Ainkara, you know this."

Green closed her eyes and used Control to get herself relaxed and focused. Anger, fear and aggression would do her no good, nor Ainkara. Once she felt she was back to self control and relaxed, Green's shoulders showed it had been successful. "I will meditate when I have the time. Until then we have things to do for our new guests on this trip. If need be I may ask a really big favor in the near future, Commodore." She used Cyndi's rank to show that the favor would be one asked under an official capacity, to go in search of her missing apprentice if need be.

"What do you need commander?" Cyndi asked "You seldom ask for favors."

"When my path becomes clear I will request the use of the USS Euphrates to go in search of my wayward apprentice, and our Starfleet cadet. The runabout is top shelf since Cosmo got his little gadgets on it." That brought a grin to her face but it had very little humor behind it. Just memories. "But, until I know for sure what I must do, I'm here and on point, Cyndi."

"Of course permission will be granted and you can take anyone with you, you like. Our new helm officer is a damn good pilot, if you'd like to take her," Cyndi agreed In the meantime I've ordered ten guest rooms readied for out guests."

Getting her mind back to where she was, what she was doing, Green gave a nod. "Ten, huh? I'll let Nira know and have her scope out the best section for that. One that will be easier for Security to keep tabs on. Also, we have Mister Kudo, our strat ops chief. He's a Starfleet ranger so I'm sure he'll be glad to aid them where needed. Perhaps Herculoid could find out what they like to eat and drink so we can have the galley cook them real meals. The replicators will also need to be set to produce only food, drinks, and clothing." She gave a chuckle. "Hell, I'm sure Captain Barnes would like the chance to mingle with the natives. I dare them to step out of line with him around." Her mood was back to normal, despite what was in the back of her mind.

"Rivers is there if we need her too and I'll speak to Herculoid, Cyndi said as she thought for several minutes "If this Princess proves to be too hard to deal with it may be time for both Herucloid and I to let it out that we too are Princesses, something neither of us want to do but we may have little choice. But that will depend on how she acts. In the mean time yes we'll get the replicators programed for them and have meals that can be prepared for them."

Green kept her grin going. "That, or if she steps too far out of line she'll be remanded to her quarters for the duration of the trip. Sealed inside, if need be. My diplomacy is always on my mind, but when someone plays stupid games they will win stupid prizes." Ro stood up casually. "But, I better get all this arranged post haste. Since they are visiting dignitaries Security will be armed, phasers set to stun. Anything else before I head out?"

"That would be priceless," Cyndi said laughing "We'll keep her in line. But no your good to go."

"Thanks, Cyndi, for everything. I know the whole Meji Order thing confuses people. It's just who I am now. Have a good evening and I'll see to the arrangements with the others." Giving a bow from the neck as a nod of farewell, Ro turned on her heel and walked out of the Ready Room.

Cyndi watched Ro leave. She did have the best first officer in the fleet. There was no question. Not to mention she had a damn bunch fine crew as well.
