ON:
After talking to Hank, Cyndi had returned to the ship long enough to flight prep her shuttle and after getting permission to launch had headed for one of the moons in the Danvers system. While the shuttle was comfortable and both she and Paul could sleep on it Cyndi had opted to secure lodging in a cottage that over looked a small lake where waterfowl could be seen swimming in the lake, the sounds of crickets, bullfrogs and other woodland creatures were heard. A message had been sent to Paul letting him know where she was. The papers Hank had given her had her interest. Picking them up Cyndi walked onto the porch that overlooked the lake, took a seat in one of the chairs and set to work reading them and taking notes.
A short time later Paul landed a shuttle next to Cyndi's, after shutting it down he made his way to the cabin, Cyndi was still on the porch reading over some papers. Taking a seat next to her he watched her for a few minutes. "What has sparked your interest?"
"Hank gave me some research to work on, he told me it's better suited for me as I hold the PhD and he's right. This is going to take some time to work on and figure out but gives me something in science to do," Cyndi said making a few more notes and then stacking the papers, clipping them together and putting them in the briefcase. "I've got dinner in the oven, it's nothing fancy, I remember how you love taco bake. I found everything I needed in the cabin's freezer. We can eat out here and enjoy the fresh air for a change."
"I like that idea," Paul said getting to his feet and planting a kiss on the top of her head as he walked into the cabin and returned a few minutes later with two plates of taco bake and forks and handed one to Cyndi as he took a seat again. Taking a bite he nodded "This is wonderful and better fresh, Thank you."
"My pleasure," Cyndi replied as she too was eating.
They ate and chatted for several minutes, when finished Cyndi stood and offered her husband her had "Let's for for a walk along the lake then we'll come back and go to bed. I should check in with the ship and Hank in the morning. But right now the demands of command are furthest from my mind. The ship is in good hands and I trust Hank. Tonight I just want to be alone with you."
Paul took her hand and they walked over to the lake, Cyndi kicked off her sandals, and walked barefoot along the shore of the lake. Neither of them knew how long they'd been walking until suddenly they realized it was night time and fireflies had come out winking in the darkness.
"We should head back to the cabin, secure the shuttles and go to bed," Paul said as they headed for the cabin each securing their shuttles, Alarms were set on both of them and the couple headed into the cabin, closed and locked the door. They headed for the bedroom and on the way turned off the lights.
