Mission: Aftermath

Planet Klavir

“Your mom is coming soon, lose the attitude little one.” Paul said, he had missed Cyndi. Piper was still holding a grudge that her mom tried to send her off to the queen. Luckily her father accompanied them ahead of time. He knew that Piper did not want to be a successor to the throne. And her defense, why was she? She had spent most of her time with Starfleet, a life away from politics and nobility.

“I am sorry, Dad.” Piper said quietly. She didn’t need to take this out on her father. He had been through a lot, she had almost lost him. She needed to remind herself to let them try to make her their heir, once she was old enough she was going to live her own life.

“You have a right to be upset, and I'll do everything I can to help you. You are a federation citizen you can't be forced to do something you don't want to do. I'll make sure your grandmother and your mother knows that.” Paul suggested to her.

“I’m sorry for putting you in the middle.” Piper sighed. “I know Mom has dreams for me and so does Grandmother but they aren’t mine.”

“As I told you earlier, I'm not going to let them make you do anything you don't want to do.” Paul said trying to be a loving and supporting father.

“I get scared sometimes.” Piper admitted. “Cause Grandmother pushes mom to the breaking point.”

“Your grandmother's the Queen of this planet, if you want your mom to take over at some point. Believe it or not at one point your mom was wanting to take over this planet, that was until she joined Starfleet.” Paul started to explain, but keeping it pretty simple on the definition.

“She did?” Piper said with interest. “How come she ended up a captain in Starfleet then?” She couldn’t wait to hear this story.

“She fell in love with the dream and the idea of Starfleet. It's really that simple.” Paul said, leaving out some of the tough decisions that Cindy had to go through in order to achieve that simple request.

“Do you think she will come back here if something happens and it is her turn to be Queen?” Piper asked her father.

“She will have too, that part of her destiny can not be helped.” Paul said, feeling guilty. That day was not today though. The Queen was healthy and still had a few good years ahead of her.

“It will be okay, Dad.” Piper said with a smile. “We’re a family and we will be there for each other.” She was reminded in that moment how close she came to losing him. She was really close to her Dad. “I promise I will try to be less of a pain.”

“I appreciate that, and I also understand you're frustration. Don't forget I will always be here to protect you.” Paul said, as he hugged his daughter. To reassure her.

Piper hugged him back. “I know you will. I love you and mom. I’ll do what is right.”

“Thank you pumpkin.” Paul said as a scene starts to fade away.

Piper still had concerns but she had made a promise and she would keep it no matter what it took.
