Mission: Aftermath

Piper met Brent on the stairs and grinned at him. “Today is the day we’re going to the amusement park!” They had been looking forward to this for days. “I heard Mom and Dad come down earlier. We better hurry up and eat, I want to ride everything we can!”

“I can't wait to go.” Brent said with a tone of excitement in his voice. He had always loved amusement parks, and they were so much better in person than they were on the holodeck. He always felt like he could tell that the safety parameter was set to the holodeck versus being in person they weren't.

“I have a confession to make, I’ve never been to an amusement park,” Cyndi said.

“Neither have we.” Piper said with a grin. “But Dad says they are fun!” She looked to her dad. “What do you want to ride first?”

“Scary roller coasters of course.” Paul suggested to his daughter. He hoped saying that would make her want to go on one. He was surprised to hear Cyndi say that, especially since they had an amusement park on her planet.

“You did not say it would be scary, Daddy.” Brent said feeling very scared. He was not sure what a roller coaster was, but it sounded scary.

Piper’s eyes lit up. “Oh I want to go!” She looked at her dad. “I’ll ride one with you.” She looked at Brent and her mom. “You gotta ride at least one!”

Cyndi looked to her son then to the rest of her family “I'll give one a try, as long as you three agree to go on a water ride that is guaranteed to be high and get you very wet. Deal?”

“Deal Mama.” Brent said with the big smile on his face, he could not wait to go down the water slide.

“Do we have a deal Piper?” Paul asked as he looked to his daughter.

“Yes.” Piper said with a wide smile. “I love the water.” If they only knew.

“Then let’s get going, I’ll change into something so when we get wet we;ll be in something that we don’t have to worry about sticking to us,” Cyndi replied.

“I’m excited!” Piper said. She looked to her dad. “Can I ride in front with you!”

“So we're driving?” Brent said a little sad. He would have preferred to have beamed over.

“Well both of you in the back, you know your mom's going to take a front with me.” Paul pointed out to his daughter.

Brent practically jumped over the car to land in the back seat and quickly put on a seat belt.

Piper was disappointed but she just hopped in back with her brother. When she was a mother she was going to let her daughter ride in the front.

“We’re going to beam to the Amusement Park, I promised Bent he could choose next time and he wants to beam over since we drove to the restaurant,” Cyndi said “I think that’s fair this way both kids get a choice.”

Piper got out of the car and grinned. “Beaming is faster to ride more rides.” She grinned at her Dad. “There is one that goes upside down, will you ride it with me?”

“I'm making no promises.” Paul suggested to his daughter. He knew better than making a blank open promise.

“I won't be going on any roller coasters.” Brent stated to everyone. He had no desire to be scared out of his mind.

“I’ll find someone to ride with me.” Piper said and she continued to talk nonstop all the way to the park.
