Now that Lieutenant O'Neil had settled into her quarters, met with Commodore Song and had her boarding physical it was time to meet her counterpart; Lieutenant Commander Kristian Long.
Entering the Medical Complex Tabitha made her way into Sick Bay and approached a Nurse "Excuse me, I'm Lieutenant O'Neil, I'm looking for Lieutenant Commander Long; I'm the new Chief Counselor.....if you would be so kind to point me in her direction" Tabitha commented with a smile.
"Absolutely Counselor" the Nurse replied returning the smile "Doctor Long is over there."
"Thank you for your help" then Tabitha walked over to the Doctor "Excuse me, Lieutenant Commander Long I'm Lieutenant Tabitha O'Neil the new Ship's Chief Counselor" as she gave a nice smile.
Kristian handed off a chart to a nurse and offered her hand. "Please call me Kris or Kristian. I heard a new Chief Counselor was aboard. Welcome to the Amandora. Let's talk in my office," Kristian said.
"Thank you Kris and please call me Tabatha; lead the way" she replied following Kris into her Office.
Kristian led the way into her office, set the picture of her family aside as she indicated for Tabatha to have a seat. Kristian took a seat behind her desk. "We've been without a Counselor for sometime. While I did take a half semester in med school I'm thrilled to finally have a Counselor again. It's been far too long." Kristian said.
Sitting in the offered seat "I can certainly understand that since by the sheer size of your Medical Complex you must have your hands more than full" Tabitha replied "And may I say how happy I am be be here and look forward working in concert with you and your department."
Kristian nodded "I do have my hands full, I have several fine doctors and nurses but lack an assistant. I am looking forward to working with you as well. Do you have any concerns or questions regarding any of the officers and crew you may have already met? Two can be very stubborn when it comes to the required physicals. I usually have to make it an order."
"Well I haven't met that many of the Crew yet, so not really any questions so far" then she paused "Some people don't like seeing Doctor unless they absolutely have to.....and they hate seeing Counselors even less" Tabitha commented with a grin "Although I am pretty good at reading people; even though unlike my fellow Counselors I'm obviously not Betazoid."
"The commodore is the worst. I keep reminding her that she's the one to make sure we have a ship to return to. I've told her to lean on her XO as that's why he's here," Kristian commented "As for Betazoid'a I've only met a couple."
"I can't say I'm at all surprised with the Commodore; a lot of C.O.'s seem to think they're immune but as we all know they are not" Tabitha replied with a grin "Some of the Counselor's on other Ship's tend to be Betazoid which has it's pluses and also it's minuses. Ever since I graduated from the Academy I've been researching and learning profiling so usually I can interpret weather an individual is being truth or not by what is known as 'Tells'; that's the way people present themselves physically during conversations."
"You might just be the one to get her to talk. I've tried and it's she just not going to happen. She's a fine commanding officer, one of the best I've served under. In some ways the commodore reminds me of my mum," Kristian commented.
"When I met her the other day she was quite pleasant and easy to talk to" Tabitha commented "My next task, over the next few weeks, will be going the Crew's Psych Evals so at some point the Commodore will have to sit down and talk to me in my domain; Star Fleet requires she does so and I'm not opposed to citing regulations when needed."
"That's good, she is one to follow regs. Cyndi is easy to talk to and is pleasant," Kristian said "I don't know if you have the authority to order her or any of the command staff. I do, something I don't like to do" Kristian commented.
"The Counselor does but only under rare or severe circumstances and only with the CMO's approval" she answered "I've only had to do that once I'm my career so far."
"Let's hope it never comes to that," Kristian replied "If it ever does then you'll have my support. This crew has been through quite a bit as of late. Have you found your office yet?"
"Thank you Kris; I think it's important for us to work closely together and if you ever need someone to talk to please don't hesitate that's why I'm here" Tabitha stated with sincerity "To answer your question, no I haven't found my office yet and I was wondering if you'd be so kind as to show me where it's located; this Medical Complex is massive."
"Your actually not far from your office. The medical offices are on the same deck. Your office is across the hall and down two doors. It's a big office, it has a waiting area, a room where you and your patients can talk and you have an office as well. If I remember the waiting room has two nice oversized chairs and the counseling office has a nice couch and chair along with a coffee table. I've not seen your office," Kristian said getting to feet.
Standing as well "Really, that much space? Wow this Ship is going to spoil me" Tabatha replied with a smirk "I'm sure I can find it without any problems and I'm anxious to get to work. Thank you for your time and it was very nice to meet you Kris and I look forward to collaborating with you."
