After a good nights sleep in her own very comfortable bed and a nice hot shower Tabitha sat in her quarters feeling the urge to have some fun. Thinking for several minutes she came up with an idea. Perhaps Cyndi and Kristian would like to join her. She'd come to know the Doctor somewhat on the away mission but really hadn't had the opportunity to get to know the Commodore yet and not duty wise but on a more of a personal level; which was a good thing since she was Ship's Counselor.
The more she thought about it the better the idea sounded. Tapping her comm "Commodore Song this is Lieutenant O'Neil" then waited for a reply.
Cyndi was spending a lazy morning in her quarters. She was due on the bridge in an hour. Tapping her com-badge "Go ahead Lieutenant."
"Good morning Commodore. I was thinking perhaps a few of us ladies might get together for a 'ladies night out' and let our hair down and get to know one another better....say nineteen hundred in the Lounge and casual attire; I'm also going to ask Doctor Long to join us if you're up for it.
"It sounds just like what we all need. I'm up for it," Cyndi replied.
"Wonderful, I'll meet you in the Lounge at nineteen hundred. O'Neil out." then she contacted Doctor Long who also accepted her invitation.
About eighteen hundred Tabitha showered, toweled off, and combed out her long auburn hair deciding to wear it long this evening. She dressed in a pair of black dress pants, a violet top along with black flats. After splashing on her favorite perfume Tabitha grabbed her comm badge, secured her quarters, , and left for the Lounge.
Cyndi after a quiet shift on the bridge and leaving command in the hands of her first officer headed to her quarters for a change of attire. She selected a pale green dress that fell just below her knees, a pair of black flat shoes and after brushing her long red hair opted for the evening to not put it into her usual pony tail but rather let if fall free to her waist. A touch of makeup, pinned her com-badge on, Made her way to the lounge.
Kristian after clearing the away team for duty, a long hot shower and a call to her young charge, Jimmy who had requested to stay on her home planet of Amzock while the search for any family he may have after the death of his parents when the star base Danvers had been heavily damaged when original Amandora had been stolen and destroyed. Jimmy's parents had been killed when the Danvers had been damaged, Kristian had taken charge of the boy and had him safely on Amzock under the care of her aunt and uncle. Kristian changed into a pair of black slacks, pink top and white flat shoes. Brushed her hair and picked up her Lute and headed for the lounge. She was glad Tabatha had arranged this as the commodore needed a break from the demands of command.
Tabitha walked into the Lounge arriving shortly before nineteen hundred. Looking around she found a nice table by one of the viewport windows. Shortly after sitting she saw Cyndi walking in. Standing she called out "Commodore" motioning with her hand to where she was "Good evening Cyndi, please have a seat" she stated with a smile.
Cyndi walked over to where Tabatha was waiting for her, "Thank you for setting this up. Who else is coming? I'm glad it's in the lounge as here there are no ranks."
"Actually Doctor Long should be arriving shortly. I thought you might enjoy the distraction from command" Tabitha replied with a smile.
Minutes later Kristian walked into the Lounge looking around "Doctor Long over here" Tabitha commented in a loud voice standing to be seen.
Kristian seeing Tabatha and the commodore walked over to where they were seated and took a seat, she set her lute under the table, "Commodore it's good to see you relaxing."
"Command has it's perks but it is a full time job and stress comes with it," Cyndi commented "But I wouldn't change it for the world."
Thinking a moment on how to approach the situation "Well ladies since none of us are on duty, may I suggest dropping ranks for the evening and order some drinks" Tabitha suggested with a smile.
"I like that idea," Cyndi said
"Me too," Kristian agreed. "I'll go get us some drinks and some munchies. I'm suddenly hungry for nachos and cheese," Kristian got to her feet and headed for the bar and placed the order for drinks and nachos and cheese.
"So Cyndi when you're not being Commodore, which I assume is quite infrequent, what do you like to do for a distraction....you know hobbies...interests" Tabitha inquired.
"I try to spend some time in the science labs. When my husband and kids were aboard I loved spending time with them. But Paul came out of retirement to command Starbase Danvers, I love to swim and ride horses. My family;s horses are kept in the stables at my parents palace. My house on Klavor has a nice pond out behind the house and our version of Swans can be seen swimming on it. Of course being a scientist I still read the latest science papers," Cyndi said.
"Wait a minute.....did I hear you correctly.....you said the horses were kept at your parent's palace? I have to ask are you some sort of monarch" Tabitha inquired being quite intrigued by her response.
"My parents are the King and Queen of my planet. I am a Princess. But with Starfleet's decree on royalty I have signed documentation on file that states my title is on hold until such time I go home to live or on vacation," Cyndi replied "My husband does as well as when we were married he was crowned as a Prince.
Thinking for a moment "So does that mean at some point you'll be Queen of your planet? " Tabitha inquired as she look up "Oh, here comes Kristian with the drinks and goodies."
Cyndi nodded "Sadly yes and I am in no hurry for that stage of my life. I'm not ready to retire."
Kristian had heard the conversation as se set the drinks on the table along with the nachos and cheese along with plate and napkins. Taking a seat "Cyndi, I spoke to Jimmy earlier and he's asked me if you or headquarters have had any luck in locating any family he may have. If not I want to formally adopt him." Looking at Tabatha "Cyndi is not the only Royal on the ship."
Hearing what Kristian said peeked her interest "Really; had I known I'd be around royalty I would have dressed for the occasion" Tabitha replied with a smirk "So Kristian how do you fit into the scheme of the Monarchy."
"On my home planet my Aunt and Uncle are King and Queen. Technically I have no formal title, my mum and my Aunt are sisters. Mum's a marine and dad's a Starfleet Captain. I have zero chance of becoming a ruler," Kristian said "If there were a title I'd be a Lady."
"From what I've seen I'd say you're already a Lady" Tabitha responded with a smile "Because I'm not Betazoid I'm learning the art of profiling. Even though I can't sense people's feelings or emotions, everyone has 'tells' in their physical gestures that says a lot about how a person is feeling at the moment" then she paused "Of course having a photographic memory doesn't hurt either.
"Thank you," Kristian said "I envy you as I don't have a photographic memory. And no I'm not the other Royal aboard. I'm sure I speak for Cyndi when it comes to Royals, They just want to be treated like everyone else."
Cyndi nodded "That we do and life in the Palace was never for me that is why I have my own house. Kristian in response to your question about Jimmy. He has no other family that we've been able to find. Both of his parents were only children and command has not been able to locate any other family. I'll push through the adoption."
"I certainly can understand the desire to, how shall I put this, lead somewhat of a normal life apart from all the pomp and circumstance that goes with titles" she replied before taking a sip of her drink "Kristian what makes you happy apart from being a Doctor."
"Funny you should ask," Kristian said picking up her Lute. "I'm not the best at this but I do enjoy playing. It's relaxing for me and if you like I'll play one of my favorites. A song my dad taught me a few years ago."
"Please, I'd love to her you play Kristian" Tabitha replied with sincerity.
"I don't remember the name of it. But it goes like this," Kristian said taking a pick from her pocket and began to play a lively tune. (Think of it as a square dance tune.) After a few minutes Kristian finished the tune. "It's also one of mum's favorites."
"I'm not any sort of music expert but sounded quite lovely" Tabitha commented "if you ever give up being a Doctor at least you have something to fall back on" as she grinned.
"I agree Kristian, that was good. I don't see how you think your not good as that was awesome," Cyndi commented,
"Thank you both. My aunt taught me while I was recovering from a shuttle crash. I couldn't do much and I was soooo bored," Kristian said "As for giving up being a doctor, I'll probably do it until the day I die. I love helping people."
"I hear you Kristian, I feel the same way about being a Counselor although one day I would like to retire from Star Fleet and maybe open my own counseling service someplace nice and warm" Tabitha stated with a slight chuckle.
"When time comes for me to retire I'd like to retire to one of Amzock's moons, hopefully with a husband and kids. But retirement is a long way off. i feel this is where II need to be," Kristian said.
"What I'd like to do is when I do finally retire is return to Earth for a time and resume teaching science at Starfleet. Until the time comes for me to go home to Klavor and take my place as Queen. That too is a long way off. I'm waiting for my kids to get married so Paul and I can spoil grand kids. And just take things as they come. Paul is my love." Cyndi commented.
"That sounds like a very nice life Cyndi especially when you're able to spend it with the love of your life" then she paused a moment considering how forthcoming she wanted to be with her personal life "Unfortunately I haven't found that special someone yet but there's still plenty of time for that" looking to her left "Kristian I suppose you're married to medicine or is there a special someone; that I'm being nosy?"
"There was someone," Kristian replied "Asked me to marry him, my parents liked him. I accepted, only to find out he was already married. Three months later the ship he was on had a warp core breach and it exploded. No survivors."
"I'm so sorry on both counts" Tabitha replied with sincerity "Oddly though the universe has a way of.....how should I put this....balancing things out."
"It does and as much as it hurt, I felt bad for his wife. She wasn't on the ship when it exploded. I don't know what happened to her," Kristian said "I've not talked about him in some time,"
"Kristian I had no idea," Cyndi said.
"I got over it and have it buried deep," Kristian responded "Perhaps one day I will meet someone again."
"I'm sure you will Kristian and probably when you least expect it" Tabitha commented with a smile.
The three ladies talked for the next few hours when Tabitha sniffled a yawn "Excuse me, I didn't intend to do that" she stated knowing it was getting rather late "I probably return to my quarters and call it a day. Thank you both for a very nice evening of conversation and drinks. Perhaps we should do this every now and again" as she stood.
Cyndi stood followed by Kristian "I enjoyed this and next time we need to include my cousin and Alesha," Kristian replied.
"And Emma Parker, she's the chief security officer and Kalina Johnson, she's the chief helm officer," Cyndi suggested "I enjoyed this, it gave me a needed break from command.. Now it's off to my quarters and a message to Paul and the kids."
They headed out each in her own direction.
