Post Number 13 A Cabin In The Woods

Cyndi had returned to the ship long enough to pack a few things, grab her sciece field kit something she’d not used in some time, Paul had packed things as well, picking up the two duffels they headed to the shuttle bay. Off in a corner was Cyndi’s own shuttle something she’d not flown since getting the promotion to commodore and the command of the Amandora. Walking over to it Cyndi keyed in the access code to disarm the alarm on it.

“I’m not even sure it’ll fire,” Cyndi said boarding the shuttle, taking a seat at in the pilots seat. Tapping a few commands the the shuttle’s systems came on. “I’d forgotten it was even aboard, what made you remember it?”

“I was in earlier to check out a shuttle and saw it,” Paul replied stowing their things as he closed the hatch and took a seat next to Cyndi “I found the perfect cabin for us to stay in, you’ll love it.”

Cyndi ran the flight check “Here goes nothing,” tapping a few more commands and the shuttle came to life. Lifting off Cyndi maneuvered it through the shuttle bay and out into space “I’m surprised it fired, did you do something?”

“I might have,” Paul winked “Let me take over I know where we’re going and you don’t.”

“You have control,” Cyndi said turning things over to Paul

A short time later Paul landed the shuttle next to a small cabin that was nestled in a small clearing under a large Maple Tree, shutting down the shuttle Paul dropped the hatch, grabbed the duffel bags and stepped off the shuttle followed by Cyndi. Paul led the way to the cabin, unlocked the door and stepped in.

Cyndi walked in as Paul set the duffels on the floor. The room consisted of a double bed, two night stands, a dresser, closet, table with two chairs, stove, fridge and another door leading to the bathroom. “Talk about romantic, I love it,”

“I’m glad, there’s a small lake walking distance from here, it’s teaming with fish, I figure we can catch fish for supper, the fridge is fully stocked and I plan to do all the cooking Doctor Long said you needed rest and I’m going to make sure you get it. For the next few days forget about the ship and your responsibilities up there. Anything your really needed for they’ll contact you,” Paul said “Let’s go for a hike and see what we can see and find?

“I like the way you think and yes a hike sounds good. I want to see the lake, take some water samples and soil samples to see what this planet has to offer,” Cyndi commented as she changed into a pair of shorts, halter top and tennis shoes, grabbing her field kit she and Paul set out for a hike through some woods, keeping an eye out for aggressive animals as they walked.
