Mission: McKinley Outpost
Location: Forward Obversation Lounge
Timeline: Current

ON:

With the Amandora close to the McKinley Outpost it was time to brief her people on what she knew which was not much. Tapping her com-badge "Will the following officers meet me in the observation lounge, Commanders Green, O'Connell, Doctor Long, Lieutenants Herculoid, James McTavish, Bjorgo, Second Lieutenants West and Rivers." Once the call was made Cyndi made her way to the observation lounge to await the arrival of her officers.

Green overheard the Commodore and acknowledged the call, doing an about face in a corridor and heading back to the lift. Doctor Bjorgo met her coming from the other direction and they stepped on the lift together. Within a minute they were whisked to the command deck but Ro used the key to go out into the bathroom niche off the bridge and into the observation lounge that way. Less crowded and one did not need parade across the Bridge. "Hello, Commodore." Said Green cheerfully.

Tore gave a nod. "Good morning, Commodore." He then took the seat directly to Green's right.

"Good morning, we have unusual orders. Doctor Bjorgo it's good to have you back."

Ro tapped her combadge. "Green to Kahn. Please report to the Bridge observation lounge for a staff meeting. Green, out."

Kahn acknowledge and arrived in a timely fashion, saying her hellos and then sitting in her chair.

Tara had been cleaning and organizing her new office when the call came it. Heading out she met up with Kristian as they made their way to the observation lounge. Walking in they greeted the ones already there as they took seats.

Alesha hearing the call was surprised to be included as she was not a department head. But made her way to the meeting. Walking in she debated on taking a position like she normally did for a meeting or if taking a seat was best. Deciding on the latter she took a seat next to Tara.

James was finishing going over some reports when he heard the Commodore. He popped his head into the main lab, hearing Lieutenant Herculoid being called also, to have a word with Heather "Hold down the fort, Tara and I have a meeting" he explained . Heather looked up from her work, smiled then nodded in acknowledgement. James smiled back then headed for the meeting room.

Commander O'Connell had just left their quarters when he heard the call and made his way to Deck 1 post haste.

McTavish and O'Connell arrived at the same time and made their way into the room. Both Officers said their hellos to everyone present and each grabbed the appropriate seats.

Ensign Jamie Kirk entered the lounge, having been sent a signal summons by Commander Green. Going around the table proper she then ended up standing a polite distance behind Ro's chair, her own back to the viewport. She gave an all-around nod of greeting to all.

[Marine Country]

West's description of the changes he was making to the marine training regiment was interrupted by the call to the briefing room by the Commodore, and he received a chorus of low ooohs and aaaahs from the jarheads.

"Calm yourselves, marines. I'll be back in a bit." He said, and headed to the bridge.

Green had logged her experience with the Nile and the Orion ships. There could be a connection or, at least, they might be able to use the Paragon as a cover vessel. A lot had happened for everyone over the past few weeks and not all reports had been gotten to yet. Nira's own reports on the incident backed her own.

Seeing Second Lieutenant West enter Cyndi acknowledged everyone who had arrived "I want to thank everyone for coming. Our orders are to head to the McKinley out post and open trade relations with them. Command feels it would be a good fit as they have much to offer, ranging from textiles, to agriculture, to souvenirs to you name it. That's the upside. The down side as to why we're being sent there is things seem a tad more shady under the outpost and before you ask it is a planet. Ships have been found with the crews missing or at least several gone. Rumors has it that there are pirates who are forcing people to sign up on their ships to serve them. Nothing has been confirmed to that point. That's why we're being sent there to see if the reports of crews being shanghaied are true. If they are trued our orders are to attempt to recover the people and shut the pirates if at all possible. The members of the outpost for the most part do not want to believe what command has told me."

Green liked the sound of all of that, half turning her chair to look back. "Sounds like a good opportunity for some of us to catch up on our small craft piloting. Ensign Kirk, you seem rather wordly so I am putting you in charge of an away team, with Delta 5 as your vessel. Pick your team how you like."

Kirk was surprised by that but at least kept it from her voice. "Aye, Commander. We'll get it done."

Ro looked around at others. "Same with any of you. Small craft are less--intrusive to colonies. Transporters make folks think we'll just pop in where we wish. If you have ideas for teams the command staff will consider all input."

Hearing all the comments O'Connell's mind was going a mile a minute in respect to Security "I will have Security Details on standby should we need them" he commented then figured he may as well put his foot right in it " Also if anyone from the Command team are required to be on the surface then I would highly recommend the Infiltration Specialists accompany them for safety's sake. They are well able to protect you without brandishing the usual weaponry."

"I'm certified to fly shuttles," Alesha spoke up.

"As are Tara and myself," Kristian said "I'd like to be on one of the away teams. If what you fear is true they're going to need medical attention."

"No one goes alone," Cyndi said firmly "The command staff will NOT all go at the same time. Lieutenant West status of your marines? Security may need your department's assistance."

Commander O'Connell just smiled to himself "Yes Ma'am, I'll have Security Teams on standby" he stated once again.

Then McTavish spoke up "Science will be ready to help in any way we can" James stated but not really to sure what his department could do on this mission.

Green had read the HQ description of their mission out here. "On the way home from Earth Nira and I aided a freighter in the USS Nile." She stood up and got behind her chair, holding the headrest as she glanced at Song. "The report is on file, Commodore. Anyway, I can make a call and see if this freighter is willing to play chauffer to get some of our people within the colony metropolis without any hiccups." She gave a pause before continuing. "I am staying aboard unless otherwise ordered. Everyone on this ship is trained for this in some way or another and, it provides experience for one's personnel file."

Kirk had been listening, nodding as the Commander finished. "Anyone who wants to ride along with me, just say the word. My first choice for team is Lieutenant Silk. A marine and a doctor, so makes it a good choice on multiple fronts."

Ro liked hearing that. Her idol, the one Starfleet officer she emulated and honored above all was Captain James T. Kirk, CO of the starship Enterprise through three incarnations of the vessel. Jamie T. Kirk was not related in any way to the man but she had the same basic characteristics and with her name, Green was giving her a chance to shine. James Kirk had earned the Starfleet medal of valor with gold palm leaves for his actions at the Axanar incident--as a lieutenant no less. Ro hoped she was not wrong, and saw in this Kirk a bit of that same greatness.

Before they broke Green added. "As per Starfleet regulations, no one goes down alone except for the Intel infiltrators. Everyone else the away team minimum is two. You are all authorized to wear civilian garb and mingle down below, but don't be afraid to say you're Starfleet if asked. That way you get watched and the infiltrators can do their job more effectively." Ro looked to Cyndi. "Commodore, I think we should have Rivers and a wingman casually fly around the colony world and gather random data. Things like number of vessels visiting every hour, which ships are shunted where, and to see if they have any kind of orbital cargo storage before delivery to the planet."

Kahn piped in. "The colony is doing well, according to all the data we have. Advanced colonies normally have a small outpost station for cargo transfer from ships that can't land. If there is a criminal element on this colony, that would be a good place to start looking for clues. Control the sky, you control the flow of goods and people."

Kirk once again put in her two-cents worth. "Commander O'Connell, if any of the infiltrators wish a ride down to the surface then I will gladly oblige. If it were me I would want an orbital jump to get below. A single falling humanoid is far harder to detect on sensors in atmosphere. Just throwing that out there, folks."

"I do have a Delta assigned to me so rather than take my personal fighter I'll take the Delta out," Alesha said

West marveled at the group of officers, whether it was at their bravery and dedication or their misplaced exuberance, he couldn't quite decide. He'd seen it before, of course, in the Marine Corps - marines deciding they needed to go into a situation guns blazing rather than taking the time to gather information. As far as he could tell, they didn't have any data except for vague references to a seedy element, and that meant gathering information, not jumping onto the planet from orbit. As a new officer, however, he kept his thoughts to himself, but was relieved to hear the Commodore shoot the idea down quickly.

"An orbital jump is risky, I'm not in favor of it. the only way I'll permit it is if someone takes a shuttle into the upper atmosphere of the planet and you just there not from space," Cyndi said. "Civilian attire, and yes pairs, weapons are to be kept concealed. At this point we don't know where the pirates are operating from all I know is they are somewhere below the outpost. Okay people you all know what to do. This may be a sect of the NuMaquis too and that usually means a cutthroat by the name of Eddie Brisco. (I'll be playing Eddie Brisco, he's not to be caught or killed. Hurt is fine just do not kill him. He'll show up from time to time.) Security get whith Lieutenant West and make sure between the marines and security we have enough security. Rivers see to it your squadron is on standby just in case. Okay everyone dismissed."

"Looks like you and I need to compare notes." He said to O'Connell, as they exited the briefing room together.
