BUGS OH NO!!
Location: Bridge and Ready Room
Timeline: Current
ON:
The reports from the battle damage, repairs and the away team that was still out on the Romulan ship looking for Brisco. Paul had been on the bridge sitting next to Cyndi when the report came through about the death of Dr. Tore Bjorgo, Cyndi had gripped the arm of her chair tightly until her knuckles turned white, she’d dropped the PADD in her lap.
Paul reached over, picked it up and read what had been sent to her, looking over at his wife Paul knew her resolve was about gone. Taking her hand he stood and gently pulled her to her feet “Come on let’s go to your ready room.
Cyndi nodded not trusting her voice and followed Paul into her ready room, the minute the door closed she hugged her husband and cried for several minutes.
Paul held her and let her cry, this battle had been hard on her, the ship had suffered some serious damage, there had been injuries and death. Cyndi had dealt with death in the past but for some reason this one had really hit her hard.
Finally after several minutes Cyndi pulled back and brushed away the tears. Taking a steadying breath she managed a smile at her husband “Thank you, I’ve lost too many good people in this one and it’s got me guessing if I am the right person to command this ship anymore.”
“You like the rest of your officers and crew knew the risks when they joined Starfleet and you knew that every time you sent someone off the ship there was a chance they would not be returning again,” Paul said walking to her desk, opened a drawer, removed a bottle of Brandy and poured her a glass. Picking it up along with a Kleenex he walked back to her and handed her the Kleenex, then the glass of Brandy. “I’ll go cover the bridge and when you’re ready come on out. You’ll get through this and it will make you stronger. Grieve as long as you need to,” he leaned in and kissed her for several minutes “You’re a good commanding officer. Admiral Snow would never have recommended you for this command if he didn’t believe in you, the same as I do.”
Cyndi took the Kleenex and dried her eyes and took a long drink before setting the glass back in the reclaimer, walked back to where her husband stood and hugged him again. “Thank you, I’ll be okay now.”
“Are you sure? I can hold the fort down until you or Commander Green are back on the bridge,” Paul said
“I’m sure, my crew needs me,” Cyndi said brushing away a few more tears as she walked onto the bridge just in time to see Ro step on and waive Nira off who had started toward her. Ro’s eyes were still puffy from crying. Walking over to her “Ro, there are no words I can say to make you feel better. We’ll get her and she’ll pay, you have my word on that.”
