#5 In Sickbay

Posted on Mon Jan 30th, 2023 @ 10:03pm by Captain Rogue Green {Meji} & Captain Sean Silk & Lieutenant JG Jamie T. Kirk/AKA: "Jim" & Chief Warrant Officer Niraasha "Nira" Whisperwind & Lieutenant Commander Kristian Long

Mission: Vanished
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: current

ON:

Kirk had left the Bridge feeling embarrassed at first, but then, as she walked along, she became perturbed and upset. She had been covered. So what if a little skin showed along her waistline with certain body movements. Starfleet really needed to lighten up and let women be women.

~You are pushing it, fool~

-Shut up and let me run with this, okay? All can be explained away. You want me to trust you, then you need to trust me-

~I will, acquiesce...for now. If it becomes a problem you will suffer horribly~

-I know, you don't have to harp about it. Now, shut up and let me work-

The voice in Jim's mind went quiet as she reached Sickbay and walked in. Not seeing Long out in the main area, but catching sight of Silk, Kirk headed towards him. On the way she unzipped her vest and pulled it off, carrying it down by her thigh as she walked up. Every set of eyes in Sickbay watched her as she went, following her like they were watching a slow tennis match. "Doctor Silk?"

"Yes," said Silk, spinning around to see who had spoken. His jaw went slack a moment, seeing Miss Kirk in a crop top style red shirt, which was exposing everything below boob level on her torso. And, it appeared it was chilly in the room. "I, uhhh...wow. That's quite a non-shirt, Lieutenant. Is your replicator malfunctioning?"

Nurse Taylor Jones had to stifle a laugh, and covered her mouth to try and hide the smile forming at the Doctor's comment.

"Why is everyone so upset over my shirt?" Asked Kirk, cynically. "I could have just wore the vest and nothing else." She gave a derisive shrug. "But, aside from that, I need a physical done, Number One's orders." Her eyes were squinting again, and this time beginning to become watery from the glare. "I have a headache and I'm irritable. I pushed myself too far in the gym last night and I have a screaming migraine."

Silk could see her eyes were having a hard time in the bright lights of Sickbay. "Have a seat." He patted the biobed he was standing next to. "We'll get some scans done." When she hopped up and sat with legs dangling over the side he began to gather what he thought he would need.

Green came in as she mounted the bed, going over immediately, her eyes none-too-happy. "I thought I was clear, Lieutenant Kirk. Change first, Sickbay second. I see you chose to ignore the first and comply with the second. You are now relieved until further notice."

"Whatever, Commander," answered Kirk. "My health seemed more important to you so I wanted to get that taken care of first. I can catch up on my reading now." Jim was putting on a brave front, but having Rogue in her grill, and angry, brought up memories that were not her own, of the Empress Rogue. Had this been the Empress her life would have been over the moment she had disobeyed the woman. That was her crutch. They did not just torture and kill here. They were nice, and understanding.

~Now you see. Weakness and sentiment.~

-shut up-

Nira had come in as they were talking, wearing her traditional black bikini duds these days, daggers and a phaser on her hips. She had heard what Kirk was saying as she went over to the group. Not knowing Kirk very well she was still surprised at the lack of respect in the voice tone. As requested she was here as Security so she stood to the side and let the others continue.

Kristian hearing the talking walked out from her office and over to where everyone was gathered. Seeing Kirk's less than proper uniform crossed her arms over her chest "Care to explain to me what is going on? Did the commodore change uniform requirements and no one else get the memo?"

As Long spoke, all eyes on her, Nira had casually moved around to just behind Kirk. If the Lieutenant was suffering from some brain ailment, and chose to attack she would reach out, wrap her up, and keep her from harming others.

"No," said Green, in a clipped tone, her eyes going back to Kirk. "The Lieutenant took it upon herself. However, I have ordered a full examination of Miss Kirk. She looks to have some physical trauma and her eyes keep squinting in the light."

While Green was explaining Silk had his medical tricorder out, the feinberger unit in hand as he ran it over and around Kirk's skull, neck, and shoulders.

"I had a moment, Doctor Long," said Kirk, her voice having returned to a more apologetic tone. "I overecerted in the gym last night, and received some bad personal news. I thought I could force my emotions away by pushing my body to exhaustion. "Obviously," she motioned up and down at her exposed lower torso. "I was wrong."

"Then a complete physical it is," Kristian said "Doctor Silk what are your scans showing? Computer dim lights ten percent"

When the lights dimmed Kirk gave an audible sigh of relief. "Thank you." Her eyes opened normally.

While Silk was doing his technological scans, Green was doing some scans of her own using the Force.

"She is suffering from hypertension, and there is an elevated level of brain activity." Silk explained, still reading as the data came up on his tricorder. "That could be explained by the emotional chaos she says is coming from bad news. An overactive response to whatever she heard. Her body is showing muscle strain and the signs of a sore throat, which is healing according to the scans."

~This had better work, or you die right in front of them~

-I got this-

Green felt that Kirk was telling the truth, but not, at the same time. She was hiding something, or not wanting to talk about whatever was bothering her. Personal news was still personal in Starfleet, so there was nothing to be done about that, except one thing. She would get with Nira about that later. "So, all she said can be considered true, Sean?"

"According to the scans, yes." Sean said. "She has muscle strain and hypertension due to over exercising. Hence, the headache which is affecting her ocular nerves. Miss Kirk, look up at the ceiling and keep your eyes open as best you can."

Kirk complied quietly, not wanting to make things worse. It was bad enough that she was gearing up to beg Commander Green for leniency. Silk put the feinberger very close to her eyes as he scanned them at a minimal distance.

Something was not right here. Silk figured that out within the first few seconds of scanning the eyes. "Jim, look me in the eye while I scan further, please."

"Of course, Doctor," Kirk complied. Even with everyone looking on she could still use the eyes to try and pass a message to Silk. To plead with him to help her; askance. After all he was right in her face, eye to eye, unlike the others. It was possible to do this so she tried.

Silk, at first focused on the medical side of her eyes, felt the need to stare into them as he worked. He felt that she was pleading with him, asking for his help the only way she knew how without giving too much away. So, as he worked he angled himself to keep others from seeing her eyes too much. His feelings told him she needed his help. How he knew this Sean did not know. Now, with his feelings involved, it was doctor/patient confidentiality. "There is eye strain from the hypertension," which was backed by the scans, but the nerves themselves were looking to have gone through some kind of change. "Doctor Long I'll take her as my patient and work further to figure things out. As for the attitude, Lieutenant Kirk, you'd better stow that shit right quick. Got me?"

"Aye, Sir." Kirk looked at Green, giving her pleading eyes. "Please don't relieve me, Number One. I'll take a demerit on my record, extra duty, or both if that's what it takes. I ask for a chance to pull myself out of this funk."

Green was still angry over her antics on the Bridge, but people dealt with sorrow and angst differently, so she had to consider that. Giving a sigh as she hitched her hips and crossed her arms over her chest, here eyes looked directly into Jim's. "One chance, that's it, Kirk. One. As it stands the demerit will go on your record for insubordination, and if you behave yourself and correct yourself, that will be removed after a three month period. One mistake is all it will take to make it permanent, Lieutenant."

"Understood, Sir." Kirk replied.

Silk looked at Long. "May I see to her as my patient, Kris?"

Kristian nodded "It goes without saying I'm to get a full report."

After the two senior officers addressed their subordinates, Green got Long and Nira to walk with her to a far section of the chamber. "There is something going on with her, I feel it. But, we have to do this right or she can call foul. Kris, I need you to keep a close eye on her through Silk. As CMO you can override her badge and use it as a health monitor without her knowing. That way we can monitor if she has any further incidents."

"Consider it done, her uniform or lack of it was a flag to me. There is no way the commodore would permit any officer to look like that," Kristian said "It's almost like a dual personality."

"She's definitely not herself. At least, from what she has shown all this time. Nira." The Puazi looked her way, still keeping an eye on Kirk from across the room. "Access the logs as Investigator. Find out if she has had any communications within the last week. If not, then her story has a hole in it we need to look into. Do not access the messages, just yet. Just see if she had any."

"Will do, Commander."

"I swear," said Green. "Something about the way Silk examined her eyes gave her a chance to recruit an ally. I couldn't see the eyes as he kept getting in the way. But...I don't know, maybe I'm imagining things. The Force didn't give me anything."

"He blocked it on purpose, there are monitors in here as well. For not I'll give him the benefit of doubt and see where that leads," Kristian commented "I keep a phaser in my office just in case I need it. It's set on stun."

Green gave nods to what Long was saying. "We need the Security chief's permission to access internal sensors, unless it's for an investigation." She gave Nira a grin. "Be subtle, Nira. If anything seems strange then we will open an actual investigation. Right now we have conjecture and hearsay." Ro put a friendly hand on each of their shoulders before passing between them to return to Kirk, saying as she went. "Kris, I'm going to use you for a falsification, follow along."

Going back to Kirk and Silk, Green stood easy, all her anger and frustration seemingly gone. "Alright, Lieutenant. Be thankful Doctor Long can make a good case. My one chance for you will not include a demerit. But, the ship's logs, my logs, will state the insubordinate actions. As I said, you have ONE chance to get your poop in a group or bye bye Starfleet. This is not a joke or a threat, it is a promise."

Kirk swallowed hard a her eyes showed the puppy dog look (all acting, of course, with the aid of her inner voice). "Understood, Number One. You'll have my best from now on. I will also formally apologize to the Commodore in person. It's the least I can do."

Long and Nira had followed Green, so they had heard it all and were witnesses.

"I also think it's best if you remain here for twenty four hours so Doctor Silk can keep a closer eye on you," Kristian said.

Jim's head turned and she looked at Long, anger quite apparent in her eyes, a glare that could freeze lava, and her mouth partially opened to say something. But, as quickly as it had come the wrath in the eyes was gone and Kirk deflated. "Very well, Doctor. If you think that's best."

When Nira had witnessed that vehement expression she had stepped in next to Long, her fists clenched and ready to bludgeon Kirk if need be.

"She does," said Green. "Be glad it's only 24 hours. Doctor Silk, I want the full reports on her condition, sent through Doctor Long. Leave nothing out, Captain."

"You got it," said Silk.

Nira gave her mate a glare for his suspected part in this issue. "I have reports to get to, Number One. I will meet you for dinner?"

"Yes, Nira, that's fine. Dwight wants to meet you both. Kris, we'll talk later. Everyone, have a good night." Green turned on her heel and left, needing to go somewhere secluded and meditate. Kirk had pushed some buttons she did not need pushed right now.

"Doctor Silk I'll leave you to your patient, I'll be in my office updating charts and reports if you need me," Kristian said looking at Kirk for a minute she too had seen the look in her eyes. Something was off that was sure.
