Post Number 3 Mission Briefing

Once Tara had downloaded her scans to a PADD she followed the commodore into the conference room.

Cyndi looked up as Tara entered, tapping her com-badge "Commanders Parker, Doctors Long and Rogers, Lieutenants Sabbath, McKeon, Montgomery and O'Neil and Captain Rivers please report to the conference room."

Hearing the call Tabitha secured her terminal and grabbed her PaDD. As she exited she addressed one of her staff "Ensign I've been called to a meeting so if anyone should pop in for counseling please direct them to Lieutenant Oz" Tabitha instructed with a smile "I should be back shortly."

"Yes Ma'am I'll take care of it; enjoy your meeting" the Ensign replied with a smirk knowing meetings usually were not enjoyable.

Entering the Conference Room "Good Morning Commodore, Lieutenant" Tabitha stated before grabbing a seat at the table.

Dr Rogers had just completed his surgery of Harry the Cat till 0100 am and having rested he joined the team.

" Hello Commodore thanks for the invite." Bret greeted.

Lt Sabbath had hoped to arrive first to speak to the Commodore but his personal call had went longer than expected. When he was done Sabbath joined the team and entered as well and took his seat." Good morning Commodore."

Cyndi checked the time, "I want to thank you all for coming, we'll begin and when the Xo, his wife Emma and Lieutenant's Montgomery and McKeon arrive we'll fill them in on why I called this meeting. Lieutenant Herculoid discovered a planet on long range sensors. We've assumed orbit around it. Tara tell us what you've found."

Tara activated the viewer showing the planet. "My scans show no life forms at all, no insects, birds nothing just vast vegetation, it shows a vast jungle, temperatures are in the mid 70's. There are several bodies of water and even some mountains. The jungle does not seem to be very dense."

"I think since we're explorers and this is an uncharted area of space we could send an away team down to take a look and see why there is no life other than vegetation. Tara did say she's not sure about the bodies of water for life. I'm game to explore it. What say you all?" Cyndi asked.

Tabitha chimed in "We were able to interact with a primitive culture recently which was eye opening. Maybe this time we might find a civilization from decades ago....so yes I'm up for it" she concluded.

Sabbath still itched from that last encounter and added.
" I would be the contra indicator here. Given our technology I would suggest using drones to conduct the initial assessment. "

" I am interested in the bodies of water myself. I fancy a good fishing trip." Bret Rogers replied.

"We'd need to be on the surface for that, launching drones from the ship in orbit would not work," Cyndi reminded them. "As far as fishing, let's see what the planer offers first. Doctor Rogers are you up for an away mission? Captain Rivers I'd like you to go along as extra security, I'll be leading the away team."

"Commodore you sure that's wise?" Alesha asked

Cyndi nodded "I'm sure captain. Your concern is noted. Doctor Rogers are you okay with going on the away mission?"

" Hell yeah...I mean yes Commodore. Like I said I would love to check out those fishing holes. Besides you might need a Doctor down there. I heard about Lt Sabbath getting himself bit up by some kind of copper suckers. Who knows what's on this planet." Rogers replied.

"Doctor Rogers I didn't pick up any lifeforms at all on the planet," Tara reminded him.

"But taking medical along is needed as who knows what kind of fauna is down there or what lies in the water and is it safe to drink," Cyndi said "Away team will consist of myself, Doctors Long and Rogers, Captain Rivers will join us as added security, Lieutenants Sabbath, Herculoid and O'Neil." Cyndi turned to Ben "Commander Parker you will have the comm while I'm off the ship. Emma keep a transporter lock on the away team at all times. Any questions or concerns about the away teams?"

Sabbath then spoke up to make a recommendation.
" Commodore if we split into two parties we will cover more terrain."

"That would be a good suggestion lieutenant, let's wait until we're on the surface and see how it is before we split up," Cyndi replied "If things good good then we'll split into teams."

Sabbath raised an eyebrow and listened on.

With no further discussions Cyndi stood and looked at her assembled officers "Away team has been assigned. Standard phasers on stun even though reports say no life forms I still feel better if we're armed. There is one matter that needs to be addressed and that is Lieutenant O'Neil. Your out of uniform that needs to be taken care of."

Alister entered the briefing room and looked around, “My apologies I was in a virtual meeting with a number of other ships CIOs and the sector’s Intel chief.”

"That's what I figured was holding you up lieutenant," Cyndi said as she filled him in on what the meeting had been about. "With the planet having no life on it save for plants and trees and such I don't see a security issue. Lieutenant Herculoid did report several bodies of water but is unsure if there is any life in the water. I do want you to have your team ready to go on the away team."

Hearing Cyndi Tabitha was shocked and taken back a bit "Ma'am? With respect, I'm not sure why you believe I'm out of uniform" she replied knowing full well she was dressed for duty as per Star Fleet regulations.

"Lieutenant O'Neil the reason I said your out of uniform is because I'm promoting you to second officer," Cyndi said.

Hearing the explanation Tabitha was a little lost for words at the moment until her brain caught up to her mouth "Thank you Commodore for this opportunity and for your confidence in my abilities" as she paused "And yes I can see why I'm not in the proper uniform which I will rectify after the briefing" she replied still a little shocked at the news.

Cyndi smiled "I'll update things in the ships systems once this meeting is over and your welcome. You've earned it, congratulations. Unless there is any further discussions or questions let's meet in transporter room one in an hour."

"Thank you Commodore and the hour will give me a chance to change into the proper uniform" Tabitha replied with a grin.

Not hearing any further questions or comments "Okay that's it. I'll see you in Transporter Room one in a hour. Dismissed.
